Is there any celebrity well known person that is admired/deemed acceptable by the whole of MN?

I doubt it.

Grin

I'll start by throwing Lauren Laverne and Timmy Mallet into the mix.

YY too soft.

She hasn't kids of her own and I've heard her say she's sad about it.

She started that book scheme thing for kids in US and brought it over here - Rainbow Foundation thing, I think.

And she wrote The Grass is Blue and Here You Come Again.

Gotta love her.

HeadfirstForHalos · 24/03/2011 19:55

I agree to Kathy Burke!

I don't dislike Dolly, but when I think of her I can't get images of big bouncy boobs out of my head Grin

freshmint · 24/03/2011 19:55

not sure I admire johnny deep

how about moving away from celebs to someone who has actually achieved something really admirable?

I hugely admire Bill Gates. For technological genius and then giving all his money away to tackle huge medical issues in the developing world.

Does anyone not admire him?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/03/2011 19:55

I was hoping for admire but, knowing MN, I have lowered my expectations so I will go with tolerate deem acceptable, MardyB.

Eddie Izzard?

TaudrieTattoo · 24/03/2011 19:55

She would have been a wonderful mum

JellyBelly10 · 24/03/2011 19:55

Davina McCall?

MardyBra · 24/03/2011 19:56

A huge NO to the husband stealing Angelina Jolie.

takewhatyoucan · 24/03/2011 19:56

Detest Gordon Brown.

Johnny Depp a good call!

ShirleyKnot · 24/03/2011 19:56

dolly. Deffo.

NarcolepsyQueen · 24/03/2011 19:56

Davina McCall was a total druggie though

MardyBra · 24/03/2011 19:57

Bill Gates - good one!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/03/2011 19:57

Yep, freshmint, it does have to be slebs.

Sportsters?

Academics?

Politicians?

Entrepreneurs?

It just has to be a consensus.

I like Dolly, too!

I give you Moira Stewart.

Can anyone say anything bad about her? She's freaking marvellous.

NarcolepsyQueen · 24/03/2011 19:57

Still Eddie Izzard for me Grin

TaudrieTattoo · 24/03/2011 19:57

Nothing wrong with big bouncy boobs

And anyone who answers the question "how do you feel about being called a dumb blonde?" with "I don't mind, because I know I'm not dumb, and I sure as hell ain't blonde" has to be sainted, surely?

I also admire the queen
come on she is admirable

any more for bill gates?

JK Rowling is admirable too. Triumph over adversity and giving shedloads of cash to charity. Oh, and writes good books

I really admire Baroness Hale but understand that I may be casting that to the abyss

LetThereBeRock · 24/03/2011 19:59

No to Obama.

And a Mumsnetter on here discussed her dislike,or at least lack of admiration for Nelson Mandela, the other day.

LetThereBeRock · 24/03/2011 19:59

And no to The Queen.

ObscureReference · 24/03/2011 19:59

Victoria Cohen?

MardyBra · 24/03/2011 19:59

Do they have to be living Chaos?

What about Winston Churchill?

JellyBelly10 · 24/03/2011 19:59

Yes but Narcolepsy Davina was a drug addict, she isn't any more, she mended her life and has become one of the most famous women in the media and is just a really unthreatening, likeable, straight-forward woman who loves being a mum and is basically really nice! What's not to like? She overcame her past problems...for me that's good.

freshmint · 24/03/2011 20:00

I will give you dolly. Most admirable. Although the whole enlarging -tits-to-gigantic-proportions-to-get-noticed thing really sticks in my feminist craw

But hey, she was one of the first and has redeemed herself since

wobblyweeble82 · 24/03/2011 20:00

Julie Walters. Who couldn't like Julie Walters?
