I am over a week late for my period, I have sore boobs a couple of times which is unusual for me as I only get them when pregnant. This baby wasnt planned (none were, just lovely little gifts :) ). I could go after school to a clinic and get tested or I can wait until my Drs appointment Friday, this would give me more time for my period to come but I dont know if I can wait to know.

So do I wait, or do I go after school?

Ladies?

Why can't you just buy a test and do it at home?

Beasknees · 23/03/2011 14:06

as toby says. Just do it.

nickelbabyhatcher · 23/03/2011 14:07

I am asking in a nice way....

how is it possible to have unplanned babies?
one, yes i can see how that happens, but wouldn't you then get an implant etc so being pregnant again if it is unplanned is (almost) impossible?

Anyway, exciting!!! Let us know the result! May i suggest up turning sofas, looking behind furniture etc to find some spare change and then GO AND BUY A TEST asap!! Otherwise, go to clinic!! :)

KnittedBreast · 23/03/2011 14:21

here we go.... unplanned babies are those you didnt activly try to concieve. I didnt go, tonight darling lets make a child.

accidents happen, they are not always a bad thing!

I think I will go to the clinic, 4pm- too far away :)

Depends how you would feel if it were negative. When I was TTC I couldn't bear the disappointment of a negative so waited as long as I could until I was sure.

IWantAnotherBaby · 23/03/2011 14:23

Test now! Most GP surgeries will not do a test for you, so you'll need to do one yourself anyway.

KnittedBreast · 23/03/2011 14:24

I dont know how I would feel, im not sure how I would feel if it is positive. Itl be what it is and I will deal with it when I know. still nervous though!

Good luck!!

KnittedBreast · 23/03/2011 14:26

really? i didnt know that...when i go to the docs i will be asking for some meds that i know you cannot take whilst pregnant so i was hoping thats why they would test after i mention i am late.... another reason to go today. problem is this clinin only tests the under 25s, i have just turned 25. pushing it slightly

Quenelle · 23/03/2011 14:34

Best to find out asap then. Good luck with the result.

Am36butfeel66 · 23/03/2011 14:35

My gp surgery has a big sign up now saying that they don't do pregnancy tests anymore. You have to test yourself and then contact the midwife when you know you are pregnant!. I personally cannot understand the logic in this at all. Could you maybe buy a cheaper brand test for yourself? I'm not sure how accurate they would be, but I know they sell them.

nickelbabyhatcher · 23/03/2011 14:36

I tested yesterday.

Grin Nickel. Welcome to the club!

Just test Knitted and let us know. You can get cheap pregnancy tests, I've even seen them at the pound shop.

nickelbabyhatcher · 23/03/2011 14:43

i'm very Grin at hte moment but also a bit [bleurgh]

only tested yesterday - so advent sunday appears to be the current guess!

KnittedBreast · 23/03/2011 14:46

nickelbabyhatcher · 23/03/2011 14:50

mine was from sainsbury's.
i think it was £3.99?
i can't remember - we bought a pack of two acouple of months ago and got bfn, then used the other one on monday.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/03/2011 14:56

You can get a pack of two from Sainsburys for about £4, or superdrug do own branded ones, and Boots of course. Or really cheap dipstick ones from Amazon work just as well, but you'd have to wait for delivery on those obviously. Cheap ones really are just as good as CB and FR.

LittleWhiteWolf · 23/03/2011 15:00

DRs surgeries will not do pregnancy tests for you. Lets face it if you're over a week late any test is going to be sensitive enough to pick up on that. Drs don't confirm pregnancies either (much to my mums surprise). HPTs are very reliable these days.
If you want to test, you'll have to find some cash for it. Supermarket and Boots own brands are reliable but inexpensive

Am36butfeel66 · 23/03/2011 15:05

Why dont you head to clinic for 4pm and see if they will see you...start crying if they say you are too old...it might make them more sympathetic to you? Hmm
If the clinic won't test you while you are out could you try your local supermarket to buy one if their own label tests?
I think my gp surgery is trying to cut the health budget by not doing preg tests anymore...next you will be having to buy your own vaccinations for you dc on amazon or something to bring to the gp to be given! :)
Good luck and keep us posted

myproblemblob · 23/03/2011 15:05

I did a test recently and my period started while peeing on the stick... talk about timing!

Am36butfeel66 · 23/03/2011 15:11

Oh that's awful myproblem you ok?

my only problem with preg tests is I dropped mine down the loo, and as I only had one test at the time I had to go in and fish it out!
