Just happened upon the last one and liked it, so ...

I don't think The King's Speech is that great a film; I think the directing was often unimaginative, cliched and banal and the script obvious. And Helena Bonham Carter wasn't that good.

Good morning, boos :)

James Martin - yes. MIL has an creepy enthusiastic crush on James Martin. I find him repugnant.

ScramVonChubby · 21/03/2011 10:38

Unless soemone has a paediatric medicine qualification then theya re not entitled to an opinion on whether my kids ahve SN: yes they may look sometimes as if theya re simply naughty, that is becuiase I have spent YEARS of my life working towards that aim and without constant input and slog they would be right back to where they were without teh support network we have managed to put in place.

And ADHD CAN be genuine, and when diagnosed medically do; it's hard to get a dx, and probably related genetically to ASD. (Mine don't have adhd, so not defensive).

People who imagine a dx for their kids have no link whatsoever to people who ACTUALLY have one and their existence should not be used to diss the rest of us.

And I thought the morning shift had got the light heartedness back. Hey ho...

Almost time for Waybuloo. That's how exciting my life is.

boosmummie · 21/03/2011 10:42

I find him repugnant too!!

boosmummie · 21/03/2011 10:43

I got Humf so mine's already way better than yours.....

ScramVonChubby · 21/03/2011 10:45

Home births are a valid option.

My entire birth was 35 minutes- teh MW barely amde it, he'd have been delivered in Tesco car park had we tried to get to hospital witnessed by a car full of his siblings. On a cold April night.

but people who opt for HB's should do so in an informed manner becuase it is a risk- juggling decision.

WalterFlipsticks · 21/03/2011 11:28

I wouldn't live in London if I was paid to, London is shite.
Lancashire has shite parts but where I live is certainly not shite, it is beautiful

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 21/03/2011 11:31

boosmummie · 21/03/2011 11:36

Yes it dipped a bit, but I think we pulled it back up to inane crap....

RebeccaMumsnet · 21/03/2011 11:42

Hi there
We have had several reports about this thread and wanted to say that although Mumsnet is about free speech, we are also about giving each other (as parents and as individuals from all walks of life) respect and support.

We understand everyone has the need to vent at times but doing so by vilifying other people's parenting choices or situations does rub right up against our Talk philosophy of mutual respect.

We do think it's worth reminding you all that we do ask our members to remember that parenting comes in all shapes and sizes and because we can all find it a pretty hard job at times, the one thing we could always do with is a little support.
Please do report anything that you feel crosses the line and we will take a look.

Hes fine, still quite sicky, but cheerful enough :)
Got a bit of an infected ear too, but nothing that shouldnt clear up on its own.

I would have hoped that MNHQ could have noticed that the general tone of the thread is not what it was last time, and that it was just one or two posters... :(

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/03/2011 11:52

people who say rubbish like "ADHD is made up" are:

a) ignorant

b) insensitive

c) lucky they don't have to live with it.

YouTry · 21/03/2011 11:55

Ok, so no comments about parenting. Still loads of things I can think of to be unreasonable about... Not impressed by Holly Willoughby today. She seems so vacuous (I think that's a word...) Do you think she's on MN? Not at the moment though, as she's on telly, obviously!

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 21/03/2011 11:58

I leave playhouse disney on all day

Mainly for me though Grin

sterrryerryoh · 21/03/2011 12:09

DH Lawrence used too many words in his novels

lesley33 · 21/03/2011 12:11

Oppositional defiance disorder is a description of symptoms. It does not explain what has caused the symptoms.

It is the same as syndrome. Cot death syndrome describes the symptom e.g. sudden death for no discernible reason.

In both cases there will likely be a number of reasons for the symptoms.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 21/03/2011 12:13

[facepalm]

LadyOfTheManor · 21/03/2011 12:42

Sterry "C*nt" being one of them. He loved that word.

I agree with that one LeQ !!!
I've been (unsuccessfully) attempting to read Wuthering Heights since school!! Grin

ScramVonChubby · 21/03/2011 13:05

allsquare absolutely

And you know what well done each and every person who avoided posting nastiness

But it tkaes one or two posts to cause quite real distress to somewone who is vulnerable- just been told their child has to be assessed for a condition or whatever. So it's great ythose have been deleted and MN posted waht they did without taking the action they did last time and delte the thread.

And come on LeQ, Penny Vincenzi? Ouch! My book shelf is less than highbrow I admit but noooo...... ;-)

Brad Pitt doesn;t look as if he smells of piss: he looks as if he smells of lynx. Which is about the same level of taste IMO. I hate hate hate the muck. If youc an't find a decent scent, stick to soap I say. Can't go wrong with soap.

Otherwise, a bit of MaccyD's does not ahrm amongst the good home cooked food I provide for every other meal; BF/FF is one choice only out of the millions that make up aprenting and any good there is in BF could be undone via many other things so not worth moralising (BF'er myself, extended), hated slumdog millionaire and if I won teh lottery you wouldn;t see me for the shoes, silk and restaurant bills before settling in a lovely house with a little farm style shop outside in Devon where I could hire someone to come in when I couldn;t be arsed or all I could spend the day making jams and cakes if the fancy took me.

And Ricky gervais wears his pants for 7 days without changing them.

Also intensely dislike the writings of Shakespeare (if that was even his name)
DH Lawrence just needed to chill the f*ck out, Lady, didn't he?
