You're a complete arsehole.

OP posts:
Niecie · 18/03/2011 23:52

Weird OP.

Some people give on a monthly basis, they plan their giving and work out the causes closest to their hearts and how much they can afford to pay. I know some people who give 10% of the income to charity every single month. They give all that and their OP feels she can call them arseholes for not giving even more just because its on the telly for one evening every 2 years.

Tell us OP, if you feel so strongly about this, how often do you give? I hope it is more often than once every 2 years for you to sit in judgement of others as you are. There are other charities you know who need help all the time. Not just when celebs decide to throw a big event like tonight. Or do you only give if a celeb says so?

Either way what business of yours if people chose to give away everything own or nothing?

As I say, just a weird op. Hmm

silverfrog · 18/03/2011 23:52

ah, well I'm completely and utterly off the hook then - tv not on at all htis evening, not a hint of Radio 1's record breaking show on my rdio (or tv, come to think of it) over the last couple of days.

closest I have got to it all is dd1's non-uniform day at school (and given that only meant a different t shirt, not much effort htere either!)

oh well, at least I'll sleep ok tonight knowing I'm not an arsehole.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 18/03/2011 23:53

£110 on a scarf Shock!

OP = did you miss the bit on Comic Relief tonight (I didn't watch it but it's usually similar each year) where they showed what work they support in the UK? Has it every occurred to you that people that you are accusing of being aresholes on this thread may actually be some of the people who will be benefitting from the money that you have supposedly and others have donated?

Those with mental health issues, those that have (or are) suffered from Domestic and sexual abuse, those who have older children with drug or alcohol problems, those who have children with special needs, those who rely on local community projects??

No - I didn't think so Hmm

penguin73 · 18/03/2011 23:55

Are you actually considering any of the point posted here Lila and interested in other opinions or just being argumentative for the sake of it?

NeverGoogleZombieJuice · 18/03/2011 23:56

yes OP - please answer penguins post.

and please consider this...you are a wanker

HowBreastfeedingWorks · 19/03/2011 00:01

Hey, Lila, do you boycott Nestle?

www.analyticalarmadillo.co.uk/2011/02/irony-in-raising-money-for-comic-relief.html

You might want to consider it. I won't call you names if you don't, though, because that's juvenile and unhelpful Smile

List of Nestle products here for anyone who'd like to, but isn't quite sure what they make.

overthehillmum · 19/03/2011 00:02

I never watch comic relief, I am banned by my partner because I get really upset and would donate every penny that was in my account, my partner reminds me that:

we sponsor a child in India at £22.00 a month since about three years ago, I write to him and donate extra at christmas and his birthday.
I buy two big issues a week from two different sellers because they are at different stations that I pass
I give to every bucket appeal that involves children or disasters
I buy every raffle ticket offered to me
I do a charitable run every year for homeless people.

Am I an arsehole?

I only do the charitable thing now because of years of unrelenting poverty and not being able to afford things for me or my children I now have a great job, lovely life, lovely partner and really appreciate what I have and I want to give back, but I do resent the once a year guilt trip that is laid on us....!!! Am I an arsehole!!

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 19/03/2011 00:02

I'm not a fucking arsehole, I spent over 100 quid at christmas on bloody donkeys, chickens water thingys and nets on behalf of the dcs (christmas gift to the school)

I make regular donations directly to our local NAS (not the national branch because they do sod all in our area)

And rarely go past a collection bucket without putting something into it

I mainly support small local charities because they're often overlooked plus they don't have directors on huge wages

When my mum died, me and my sisters and brother all made rather large charitable donations from the quite small amount of money we each inherited

My own opinion on the situation in Africa is that everyone in the country could empty their bank accounts and hand it over, they will still have a shit government who has let its people down badly. Sad but true

No bugger knew that because I didn't feel the need to tell anyone until you pissed me off. So a big fat Biscuit to ya

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/03/2011 00:02

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/03/2011 00:07

Shock - I don't buy Kitkats - I only eat fair trade chocolate (unless it's bought for me...........so therefore the Baileys Chocolate Cups and the Thorntons I had for my birthday pass Wink). and I never buy Nescafe coffee either (all that's fair trade as well - and the sugar, and tea and hot chocolate).......shit loosing my areshole credentials aren't I Shock

However - my cat eats Felix and Go-Cat.........and on the rare occasions that I eat breakfast I can't keep my hands off the Cinnamon Grahams Blush

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/03/2011 00:09

Mind - I am heartily relieved to see that Branston Pickle no longer makes the list Wink

valleyqueen · 19/03/2011 00:10

Shit. That £1000 I raised for cancer research was a waste then.
