not really, what about it offends you?

Gemsy83 · 18/03/2011 19:45

Her songs lately are just totally sexually orientated and crude imo. And thats the kind of stuff kids will hear and go round singing.

I don't like it either but it's symptomatic of the age we live in. Not all her fault.

Was a bit pissed off that "My Umbrella" was number one was DS was born. Or should I have said, "Top of the Hit Parade" Grin

squeakytoy · 18/03/2011 19:58

Has music ever been any different in the last 30 or 40 years??

ddubsgirl · 18/03/2011 19:58

hardly new tho,my era it was madonna getting all the heat for being to racey

compo · 18/03/2011 19:59

Really ?
I like all her songs
loved Umbrella
love Whats my name
but my fave is Take A Bow, great breakup song

Claz1001 · 18/03/2011 20:00

My 4 year old DD sings along to Rihanna. A bit worrying, but thankfully she hasn't asked me to explain the lyrics! I actually quite like Rihanna.

nikki1978 · 18/03/2011 20:00

I hate that line in her new song "Sex in the air, I don't mind, I love the smell of it"

She is alright but the songs are all very sexual. I wouldn't be happy if my 11 year old was listening to her.

Cat98 · 18/03/2011 20:00

Yanbu, completely agree.

twinkytonk · 18/03/2011 20:01

I don't think she's that bad but there will always be someone. Like ddubsgirl it was madonna when I was younger.

gordyslovesheep · 18/03/2011 20:03

Sam Fox sang 'touch me touch me - I wanna feel your body' in 1986 - nothing changes - sex sells - I prefer Rihanna anyday!

Jellykat · 18/03/2011 20:05

I dislike her, of course i've never met her Smile.. but surely following the whole Chris Brown assault case - which sent a clear message.. she shouldn't be advocating 'Pain as pleasure' via her S&M single.

Yes, i know it's 2 different aspects of violent behaviour, but i'm not a 14 year old kid...

ddubsgirl · 18/03/2011 20:06

*use to have that on 7" single..............

anyone see the n-dubs vid i love pussy?? now that was a bit Shock

EricNorthmansMistress · 18/03/2011 20:11

YANBU I think she's a bit of a wanker. Her reaction when she found out that Radio one had changed the name of her song from S&M to Come on was publically twattish. Why the fuck should a radio station play an unedited song all about hardcore sex? I'm no Mary Whitehouse but some things should be kept out of children's frames of reference, IMO.

partyhats · 18/03/2011 20:15

I am glad I am not alone in disliking her. I have to switch the radio off any time one of her trashy songs come on. I don't want to listen to filth like that and certainly do not want my dds to. Sex may sell but must she allow herself to be manipulated by record company bosses (male I expect) like that. Tramp

ddubsgirl · 18/03/2011 20:16

remembers when relax got banned Wink

Grainger · 18/03/2011 20:20

I can't stand her although I will admitt that some of her songs are catchy. Hated Umbrella brella brella though.

I also don't think she's that hot. The red hair is just stupid looking and she looked like she was wearing a flowery sofa at one stage on the Brits.

DaisyDaresYOU · 18/03/2011 20:20

I remember singing Madonna's songs when little.Looking back I think she was worse than Rihanna is.What is it with her cruch being on display all the time in her videos eww

ddubsgirl · 18/03/2011 20:24

i think most songs now can be fun of sexual things, kids most of the time dont get it,now we have 24hr music channels etc, madonnas justify my love vid was banned yet in todays terms, its mild!have seen worse than rihannas songs/videos.

Crystaldolphin · 18/03/2011 20:27

I think her music is just cheesy, generic RnB and utterly shite. Her expressionless, flat face irritates me as well. Never liked any of her music.

I think chris browns music is loads better, sorry but I do, although i hope he has had some hard core therapy for his issues.

RoundOrangeHead · 18/03/2011 20:27

yes, another madonna fan here growing up

don't think Rihanna claims to be a role model for young girls, I don't let my dd watch any of her videos

I quite like her though, she seems to be a confident young woman

Lollybrolly · 18/03/2011 20:27

Have to say I am not that keen on her. I like some of her songs - the few that are not totally sexual.

Am no prude but some of her songs make me want to boak.
The one where she says are you big enough for me?? springs to mind as being my personal top hated one!!

My 12yo sang along to her latest one last Sunday night (cringe) when we were listening to the charts in the car. She then said her friend at school absolutely loves Rhianna - that Rhianna is her friends heroine, her friend idolises her and wants to be her Hmm Great aspirations for a 12yo not!!!!

Raahh · 18/03/2011 20:28

Yanbu- she is EVERYWHERE, and seems to appear on every song on the radio.

Over exposed in EVERY sense of the word, imo.

One day, she will front adverts for Iceland.Grin

[ok, I am old and jealous- she is tall, rich and thin- but her music is rubbishGrin]

upahill · 18/03/2011 20:28

I don't mind Rhianna.
I don't want to be surrounded by child friendly songs all the time.

Maybe the problem is when the songs are being broadcasted.

RoundOrangeHead · 18/03/2011 20:28

i remember the Frankie record sleeve, some hand down the front of a bloke's underpants

frankie were bad and we all loved them at school
