Socialist brainwashing, eh? Crivens!

How on earth do free schools give parity to opportunity to all? And I think 'not blaming' class, wealth, race, gender and so on for things 'not falling into your lap' is an insidious way of saying that the right wing are not interested in addressing sexism, racism, class barriers or financial ones.

In what possible sense is Cameron attempting to achience parity of opportunity, then?

moondog · 18/03/2011 18:32

I'm not being sarcastic by the way.
I mean it.
I fell victim to it myself.

moondog · 18/03/2011 18:33

'And I think 'not blaming' class, wealth, race, gender and so on for things 'not falling into your lap' is an insidious way of saying that the right wing are not interested in addressing sexism, racism, class barriers or financial ones.'

That's a curious construct you have made, one for which there is no evidence.

JoanofArgos · 18/03/2011 18:35

Well if you are saying that you think the right thing to do is not to blame wealth, class, gender or race for anything which does or doesn't fall into your lap in life, then aren't you saying that people who do attribute things 'not falling into their laps' are wrong and lazy (your word?).

moondog · 18/03/2011 19:17

Interesting how you sneaked in that 'anything' there.

Undoubtedly there are times when those things have worked against individuals. However it happens far less often than socialist would have you believe.

It suits their agenda to maintain it is the case as then they can continue to wage a non existent class/colour/sex way which deflects attention from how generally crappy everything is when they run the show.

It also allows the perpetuation of a victim culture and a client state.
We need to stop setting up 'services' for every bloody thing going.
Someone earlier on lamented the 'slashing' of

The music service
The outdoor ed service
The ed welfare service
the health education service
and the schools and governor support services

Whose to say any of it was any good anyway? Governer support services? What's that? Are these the people who want to send me (school governer) on ridiculous 'awareness sessions' every two weeks? Ed. welfare? If education was any good, we wouldn't need a welfare service surely?

I want his children

JoanofArgos · 18/03/2011 22:28

who was to say it was any good? Well, a lot of the people who used it, maybe?

And I don't think it works to say if education was any good you wouldn't need welfare officers: do you want Geography teachers to be welfare officers?

SWC you're a very silly and rude woman and you're shit at arguing, so I shall ignore you unless you say anything so foolish that I can't stick to it.

So, see you soon, probably.

Well your arguments are very much made up as you go along, this is the trouble.

Lost respect for you after all your 'well tell me I shouldn't send my kid to private school, eh eh eh, seeing as he has particular special needs that can't be addressed in a mainstream school eh eh eh'
'Ok SWC, don't know your situation, but sure you didn't have a choice, not really commenting'
'Oh so you are basically saying you feel sorry for me eh eh eh'

YOu don't make an awful lot of sense, to be honest. Sorry.

JoanofArgos · 18/03/2011 23:04

what is? something the Daily Telegraph don't like?

Well, yes!

moondog · 18/03/2011 23:06

Assemble your thoughts Joan.
Shall we give you a minute?

JoanofArgos · 18/03/2011 23:11

well why don't you tell me what it is that I am, so that I can agree that I am it or say that I am not it?

Am I Peter Oborne?

SWC, I do see that saying someone is pissed is a novel take on saying she is a moron when you don't agree with her, and I'll be honest, I admire your efforts to mix things up a bit, I really do!

I tried to say a while back that I don't know your or your child's specific circumstances, and from what you say I guess you're not looking at Eton or anything but somewhere very specifically tailored to helping him with specific issues.

But that wasn't good enough for you, and you seem to like to have it all ways round with the 'chose private because mainstream wouldn't be right' and the 'private is better anyway' camps, so I'm really not sure where you're genuinely coming from.

I am sure your situation is exceptional and far too complex for my tiny mind to comprehend, and I wish you all the luck in the world.

But the fact remains you are terrible at arguing, incredibly defensive, and - it pains me to say it - not very bright.

Complemented? Yes, they do go terribly well together. And don't worry about having discussed things ineptly, it's fine. Have you had a drink, love?

Well, I just assumed it was on the basis of that exchange that you were so very venomous, but perhaps not.

I'm sorry too for bringing up the very personal matters you chose to share with a select few people on the world wide web. Very much below the belt.

So, you keep saying that I'm 'insance' (sic, I think?), based on whatever that's based on, and I'll just think what I think but not acknowledge what it's based on.
