Dh took one of our dc with him to Tesco earlier. They did a bit of shopping and then he took her to the cafe for a drink and a scone.
Whilst they were eating dh overheard another customer ask a cafe worker if he would keep an eye on her things, while she took her child to the loo.
The worker said yes.
The same worker then approached my dh and dd's table and said to dh..."check out the hot young mum when she comes out the toilet!!"Shock

Dh gave him one of these Hmm and turned away.
He told me when he got home,I was shocked and angry, not least because some perv had spoken like this infront of dd.

I rang Tesco and complained to the manager, who told me he was appalled.

my mum however, thought I was ott.
So,was I bu?

I stand by my comments that this was weird, innappropriate adn that his boss needs to tell him not to do it again

Then why the hell post on AIBU?

What a waste of fecking time Hmm

squeakytoy · 27/02/2011 22:13

If a man in the playground said I looked pretty,I'd think he was weird and make sure he didn't follow me home, especially if I had dc's with me!If a mum said it I'd say ah,thanks! and walk home feeling 'tractive

Have you spoken to anyone with training about these issues?

Bogeyface · 27/02/2011 22:14

Squeaky, clearly we are dealing with the "every man is a potential rapist" mentality. Save your (virtual) breath....

privategodfrey · 27/02/2011 22:15

Plus,Im not fighting the other womans corner, she may or may not have beenthrilled to find she was being lusted after by a tesco employee

How condescending is that! Fucks sake.

cantspel · 27/02/2011 22:17

Yeah but the mum who finds pretty might be gay and hitting on you so to be on the safe side you better not leave the house or at least buy yourself a burka.

Vallhala · 27/02/2011 22:19

:o @ squeaky

igetmorelovefromthecat · 27/02/2011 22:20

Must be something about Tesco cafes.

I used to have a car with an unfortunate numberplace, the letters on it were CUM. When DD1 was about 3 I went to Tesco, parked in a parent and child bay just outside the cafe, then went in and sat down with DD. After a while one of the blokes that worked in there and said "You're the lady with the interesting numberplate aren't you? Looks like you've had enough cum judging by that (gesturing towards DD1)."

I was Shock.

Wook · 27/02/2011 22:21

What's wrong with Tesco employees anyway?? Would it have been less inappropriate from a sharp suited lawyer in a rather more upmarket cafe? And, if said woman had been eating canapes rather than gravy and chips would dh have been more inclined to agree??

igetmorelovefromthecat · 27/02/2011 22:21

*numberPLATE, obviously!

privategodfrey · 27/02/2011 22:22

igetmorelovefromthecat

Now THAT was inappropriate!

squeakytoy · 27/02/2011 22:23

I actually couldnt have driven a car with that numberplate.. lol!!!

igetmorelovefromthecat · 27/02/2011 22:23

I couldn't quite believe it myself. It was a surreal moment.

GreenEyesandHam · 27/02/2011 22:23

igetmorelovefromthecat

That is shocking Shock

You bought a car that had CUM in the numberplate? Shock

:o

igetmorelovefromthecat · 27/02/2011 22:25

You have no idea squeakytoy! It was character building stuff. I would be driving around and people would point and laugh at me, I would get paranoid then think 'oh yeah, the numberplate'.

had the bloody thing for about 4 years as well.

igetmorelovefromthecat · 27/02/2011 22:26

GreenEyes I was desperate for a motor at the time having written my old one off, and it was a really good car at a bargain price. I did nearly turn around and walk away the moment I saw it though, I must admit.

igetmorelovefromthecat · 27/02/2011 22:27

It became affectionately known as 'the cum-mobile'.

GreenEyesandHam · 27/02/2011 22:30

Can't think why it was a bargain Wink

That's funny though lol :o

AngryBeaver · 27/02/2011 22:32

privategodfrey er,he WAS a tesco employee?how do you want me to refer to him?!
squeakytoy..so youi're seriosly telling me,that if a man came up to you and said, you look pretty today..you'd think that was normal behaviour? and not be Hmm
obviously I was being lighthearted about the following home thing.I'd thing it was weird if a random woman came up to me specificaly to tell me i was pretty too...of course i would.wouldn't you?!

OP posts:
AngryBeaver · 27/02/2011 22:33

igetmorelovefromthecat..i hope you complained Wink

Pancakeflipper · 27/02/2011 22:35

Oh it's so inappropiate. But I'm crying with laughter. The CUM mobile.... People pointing and laughing... Thank you for sharing that. Snorts unattractively with laughter... Smile

squeakytoy · 27/02/2011 22:35

I have often been told by random men that I look pretty/have gorgeous eyes/have a lovely smile... and on occasion probably a few things a bit more crude... I accept the polite compliments and I would simply roll my eyes at the ruder ones..

I certainly wouldnt throw a hissy over it, or complain to anyone.

privategodfrey · 27/02/2011 22:36

igetmorelovefromthecat..i hope you complained

Nah, she got her DP to do it when she got home.

AngryBeaver · 27/02/2011 22:36

bogeyface i said earlier,i accept the majority vote,i don't agree with it though.I'm allowed you know Smile

OP posts:
AngryBeaver · 27/02/2011 22:43

squeakytoy..again a comletely different thing.I have also had my fair share of men saying, nice tits or whatever.you can't control what people in the street/night out etc say to you.I also had to deal with a lot of sexual harrassment in my former job,no point complaining, it was very much an Old Boys Club. That was blatant.Like, trailing a finger accross the bit off skin exposed between your shirt and trousers as they walked past, pressing up against you when you bend over etc. Some of it was quite frightening. i took all that and didn't say a word.

This although nothing like that, was weird, involved my daughter and shouldn't of happened.

OP posts:
igetmorelovefromthecat · 27/02/2011 22:44

I didn't complain, no. Not saying it was OK but I couldn't be arsed. If I complained about every idiot I ever met I would never stop complaining. Life's too short.
