AIBU to think perhaps people should be looking after their children instead of arguing with strangers on the internet?

Firstly, I fully expect you all to flame me - feel free.
Secondly, I am aware of the obvious contradiction in suggesting that people should have better things to do than be on MN, when I am clearly on MN in order to type this, so please try to resist the urge to endlessly point this out.

I am name changing for this, but this is the second time I have been on MN since my daughter was born 5 months ago.

I used to come on MN quite a lot. It was helpful when I was pregnant and constantly obsessing about childbirth and pregnancy in general. I also think it is probably a really useful source of support for things like feeding, sleeping, special needs etc.

However, now that my baby is here, I find that I have more than enough to do looking after her and trying to keep up with everything else in my life.

I am amazed at the number of people who seem to have a number of children, and yet have time to argue prolifically with total strangers over the internet about their useless husbands/annoying children/vile mother in law/tedious customer service complaints at the supermarket, etc etc etc.

Seriously? Have you nothing better to do?If you have children, I find it hard to believe that you don't!!

Some people can just manage their time better.

You'll find it easier soon, I promise.

Hell, they even go to school eventually.

Or you go to work.

Its not all about the babies forever, promise x

manicbmc · 19/02/2011 20:51

My kids are old. I have all the time in the world. When they were younger I'd wait til they had gone to bed before some time to unwind on the internet.

So, yes, you are being unreasonable. What others do with their time is up to them.

miniwedge · 19/02/2011 20:51

If you're going to name change could you at least try to start an original thread?

Ta.

Sassybeast · 19/02/2011 20:51

I can look after the kids AND argue with strangers. It's a skill one acquires over the years Grin

TattyDevine · 19/02/2011 20:52

Some people have really fab husbands who are really hands-on and great fathers too. That frees up loads of time. Sorry if you drew the short straw there x

BitOfFun · 19/02/2011 20:52

My children are older, so at school. And as they aren't babies, they sleep a fair bit too.

You'll get the hang of it, honestly.

MarionCole · 19/02/2011 20:52

They do go to bed, you know.

KidderminsterKate · 19/02/2011 20:52

dont really know about the arguing bit but I'm a lone parent so the internet is my social life and I spend a fair amount of time on it.

not sure I do have anything better to do than go on the internet - your suggestions please OP?

yogididabooboo · 19/02/2011 20:52

some of us are so good at parenting we manage to do both. don't worry, one day you might learn to

MoonUnitAlpha · 19/02/2011 20:52

How hard is it to look after a baby ffs? It doesn't take up all your waking hours.

Maybe some of us are just better at time management than you?

Kerrianne · 19/02/2011 20:52

I kind of agree in a way.

But why did you feel the need to name change? Is it so that no-one can check up on how much time you really spend here? Grin

If you have something to say and you feel strongly about it, then why not just stand up and say it or are you scared of 'folk on t'internet'?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 19/02/2011 20:52

you can do both.

NorthernGobshite · 19/02/2011 20:52

How naive.
I hope you get some perspective as baby grows. Being a mother doesn't eliminate all other interests and activities.

mitochondria · 19/02/2011 20:53

Mine are in bed.

IreneHeron · 19/02/2011 20:53

Are you Matthew Wright?

dairyleadunker · 19/02/2011 20:53

Agree with mrs get on with it.

piratecat · 19/02/2011 20:53

there are more than 10 posters having an all day conversation op.

there's 1000's dipping in and out.

what are you talking about, and why.

BooyFuckingHoo · 19/02/2011 20:55

er, at 10 to 9 in teh evening my dcs are in bed. why is it any of your business anyway?

saffy85 · 19/02/2011 20:55

Multi tasking love. That's all it is. One day you'll be able to do it too.

JeremyVile · 19/02/2011 20:55

I quite agree.

All of you with babies should sod off frankly.

MooMooFarm · 19/02/2011 20:55

Well mine insist on watching Ant & Dec on a Saturday night, but DH & I can't stand them! So I'm on here doing a bit of browsing and DH is reading over my shoulder if there's any juicy bits - is that ok?
