To hate smokers

I have just spent ten days in hospital with my gorgeous dd2 as she slowly recovered from pneumonia. I met lots of great doctors and nurses they were amazing. But the majority of parents were scum. Children kept being admitted with asthma, tiny children struggling to breathe. One 18 month old was on her third admission. Almost every parent smoked, and so did every person who came to visit these poor kids. Then every few hours they have to leave the kids and go for a fag. They made the ward stink.
Wouldn't you think your baby gasping for air and screaming in terror would be enough to stop you smoking?
Bloody scum

here's an YAB an U Twat, light smoker. Note I said light to distinguish me from those EVIL heavy smokers who kill their children...............

C0FFEE · 16/02/2011 23:00

Name them!

tell use which chemicals in a cigarette linger so long they are toxic hours later.

Fact is that the majority of chemicals in a cigarette are present around use anyway.

Any chemicals levels give off in a burning process of a cigarette is very low.

just get off siennablues case, she is only being honest, she obviously cares more for the wellbeing of her child than some other parents, perhaps the ones who are getting so defensive of their love of smoking.smokers have rights, non smokers don't,you can choose to polute the air we breath,we can't get away from it.

BooYhoo · 16/02/2011 23:06

"smokers have rights, non smokers don't,you can choose to polute the air we breath,we can't get away from it."

you could go inside?

out of interest, do you drive or use any form of mechanised transport?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 16/02/2011 23:06

"arsenic, hydrogen cyanide and polonium- 210, the substance used to murder former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko"

there you go. the third hand smoke risk chemicals that linger on smokers for hours. as requested.

Mists · 16/02/2011 23:06

Yes I have a waterproof padded "smoking coat" with a huge hood which is usually kept outside.

My son has been kept inside the house for the best part of four years though, can't risk exposing him to the fumes caused by the terrible people who own and drive cars. Filthy creatures. They disgust me and they smell too.

I suspect that my coat is healthier.

Nancy66 · 16/02/2011 23:11

Most smokers I know are pretty respectful. None ever expect to smoke in my home, most try and puff the smoke away from you outside. Most consider children if they are nearby.

crazypanda · 16/02/2011 23:12

go inside love,i don't think soso if you had your way we(non smokers)would not take our children out or go shopping then, you can't even stand outside a shop without getting a lungful of second hand smoke,or tread in heaps of cig ends, but then you will no doubt already know that if you are one of the smokers yourself.and for your info no i don't drive.

BooYhoo · 16/02/2011 23:14

my way??? i dont smoke LOVE.

so taking a taxi when you could walk, isn't selfish? or driving when you could take the bus isn't selfish?

raffle · 16/02/2011 23:17

Off for a guilt free ciggie, you have to lead a fairly green lifestyle never to bring your children into contact with chemicals. I'm almost positive that the chemicals tenuiously clinging to my clothes after my 3 fags a day is NOT going to cause a health drama for my DS.

BooYhoo · 16/02/2011 23:18

smoking helps lots of people relax. that is a benefit.

crazypanda · 16/02/2011 23:18

so you don't smoke, and i take it you don't mind people smoking around your dcs.i don't understand why you are getting on your high horse and defending smoking then, hope you never see a relative die of lung cancer.who was also a non smoker!.

raffle · 16/02/2011 23:20

Smoking is just selfish and vile. There are no benefits whatsoever.

Pixie - untrue, it gives me the benefit of bliss, pure bliss Smile

i'm with you on that.

BooYhoo · 16/02/2011 23:22

what do you mean my high horse, what am i being smug about?

i dont take my dcs where i think people will be smoking. if we have to walk through it, so be it, it is for a matter of seconds. they breathe in fumes from traffic the whole time they are outside.

my grandad died of lung cancer, i watched him die, thanks for that sensitive reminder.

BooYhoo · 16/02/2011 23:24

so does reading and long baths but we dont all want to read or have a long bath. some people prefer to smoke. and at the minute that isn't illegal so i say it's up to them if they do.

BooYhoo · 16/02/2011 23:25

"booyhoo, sounds like you've talked yourself into starting."

what?? where in my post did i say i was going to start smoking and why would that be any of your business if i did?
