to be [hmm] about a poster when I PM them and get this...

gillybean2 · 16/02/2011 16:18

OK so I don't often PM people, but do occassionally.

Today I tried to PM someone and when I clicked send it came up with a message:
"Sorry but PMs aren't the quickest way to get in contact with Justine..." and went on to give an MN email address to contact her at instead.

So I'm now Hmm about the OP as the implcation from this message is that this person is someone at MNHQ posting annonymously.

I might add that I also PM someone else today and didn't get that message and have never seen it before either.

Of course it could just be a bug. But I'm still rather Hmm. Especially as the OP is posting as a dad...

What would you think?

ROFL Rhinestone Grin.

I feel perfectly lucid for the time being...

Rhinestone · 18/02/2011 12:54

That's because you're 'the One' Bonsoir!

I bagsey Trinity so I can look good in PVC catsuits!

HelenMumsnet · 18/02/2011 14:31

@Rhinestone

This is all a bit 'Matrix' isn't it! Think MNHQ will shortly be inventing a 'blue pill' thread to make us all forget.....

Ooh, tempting...

Eleison · 18/02/2011 14:32

Careful, I bet Helen has slipped the blue pill into the Mug emoticon.

HelenMumsnet · 18/02/2011 14:44

@Eleison

Careful, I bet Helen has slipped the blue pill into the Mug emoticon.

That's why we changed it from a cup, Eleison. More liquid to dissolve it in...

You still haven't confirmed that Justine is in fact Justin. Grin

caughtinanet · 18/02/2011 15:01

And is Catherine in fact Colin ?Grin

We have no reason to suspect that Justine is anything other than a genuine poster.

Justin, on the other hand...

HelenMumsnet · 18/02/2011 15:22

OP went to PM ANother..but got the 'why not send an email to MNHQ instead' type gubbins and because of this you reckon JustineMumsNet is a troll?

so you went to PM a troll Grin

madwomanintheattic · 18/02/2011 16:20

No, no, no

In truth, tis all my fault Shock

We've just realise that some people have been PMing Justine but not getting a reply because Justine is far too incompetent busy to open her inbox.

So we asked NikitaTech to set up an automatic thingy that told you, if you tried to PM Justine, that it's not the best way to get hold of her.

But it went a bit wrong. And for 20 horrid seconds, people were getting that message whoever they tried to PM...

NikitaTech has just about got over the shock...

GlynistheGimmer · 18/02/2011 17:27

aw [snigger]

makes HelenMumsNet a big cuppa Brew

never mind, in ten years time none of this will matter Grin

gillybean2 · 18/02/2011 17:36

Helen I'm not entirely convinced...

I asked earlier in this thread if anyone else had got a similar message. And so far no-one else has said they did. Ok so it is entirely possible that no-one who has posted here tried to PM in those 20 seconds...

But it wasn't just 20 seconds...

When I got the message I tried to send it again a couple of times and then re-pasted the name when I got the message. That in itself probably took me 20 seconds...

Then I PM someone else and that worked fine; PM sent and no message came up.

Then I tried the original person again and got the message come up as before re Justine.

And that was certainly a lot more than 20 seconds later...

I'm perfectly happy to accept that things go wrong, and clearly something technical was changed which made something odd happen. What that was could have several explanations of course.

But I'm thinking that if you knew you had asked tech to do something technical and it had gone wrong and was fixed in 20 seconds, why is the explanation only now being given some 2 days later. I have deliberately not reposted on the thread when it went quite hoping that an explanation would be forthcoming, either on the thread or by email. But now someone has posted I think it fair to ask...

Nothing was said in the MNHQ email reply to me over 2 hours later other than you've asked a tech to look at it and that you'd posted on this thread. If you knew there was an issue some 2 plus hours before hand I think the response, on this thread and to me by email, would have been a bit more informative at the time or shortly afterwards.

I'm not suggesting that Justine is a troll btw. I'm still Hmm by it all, and freely admit to being a sceptical person who is optimistically hoping for a reaonable explanation.

That said I would add that I have enjoyed some of the light hearted responses here which has helped a bit with my Hmm somewhat but not entirely.

LOL GillyBean2 - I think we are all sceptical in the light of the absence of a rapid and convincing explanation!

HelenMumsnet · 18/02/2011 17:43

Well, that's the truth. Honest guvnor.

Not sure the MNHQer who got back to you knew much about it, though. She was working from home and probably didn't see NikitaTech turn white.

It may have been longer than 20seconds, tbh. I was sparing her blushes

FriggFRIGG · 18/02/2011 17:45

OOOOooooohhhhh.... gillybean!

justine is a trrol,justine is a trrooll,justine is a trrooolll....

helen, you must not say buggered. That's virry, virry rude.

Eleison · 18/02/2011 18:09

I like the intense dissection of events here. I'm beginning to think that not only is Justine a troll but also ... she shot President Kennedy.

madwomanintheattic · 18/02/2011 19:10

and has got elvis in her shed.

definitely.

but now we all know that justine can't be bothered to check her messages anyway... Grin

(helenmumsnet is in so much trouble for that one>

does nikitatech know she's the scapegoat? did you have to give her a raise before you were allowed to sully her professional reputation all over the web? Grin
