To think local cat owners

WoTmania · 14/02/2011 12:39

could make their own gardens more appealing for their cats so said cats don't come and poo in my vegetable garden and use their own instead?

It drives me up the wall. We end up have to put netting everywhere and sticks and upturned crtaes and still the poxy things manage to dig up everything and poo. Angry

So, AIBU

Cats are marking territory. If you don't have a cat to mark your garden as theirs then someone else's cat will.

Nature red in tooth and claw.

BaroqinAroundTheCunt · 16/02/2011 21:00

I don't want rats, and mice, and bats shitting in my garden either.

toeragsnotriches · 16/02/2011 21:01

MrsSparkle perhaps the cats of your acquaintance would come and give our local feline hoodlums a masterclass in polite pooing? Because they poo all over my lawn.

ClenchedBottom · 16/02/2011 21:03

"Well cats are by nature, wild animals."

Fine - so why oh why oh why have so many people chosen to keep them as pets then?

No offence, but I don't think we will ever agree on this. I really don't think some owners grasp the sheer screaming frustation of it.

MrsSparkle · 16/02/2011 21:04

Well i could ask him i supposeGrin

Please don't put anti freeze down though!

DrNortherner · 16/02/2011 21:06

YABU, it's just what cats do.

You wanna stop them coming in your garden? Get a dog. They don't come anywhere near ours Grin

ClenchedBottom · 16/02/2011 21:08

Ok, this might sound a bit mean and I don't wish to upset anyone but..... to me, cats are supremely selfish beings. And somehow, owning them seems to rub off on their owners who then think it's fine to let their beloved moggie out to poo wherever it likes because obviously it's only going to be in a flowerbed, no-one will go near it, if anyone's children run through they're obviously just out of control anyway, it won't stink to high heaven and back, clearly no cat ever ever poos on a lawn etc etc and anyone who thinks otherwise is obviously just a meanspirited animal hater.

There, I've said it.

([slinks away to hide under a stone emoticon]
PS lion poo doesn't work.

MrsSparkle · 16/02/2011 21:08

ClenchedBottom look, like i said, if people don't have them as pets, they become wild/feral cats. Now have you ever met a feral cat? Trust me, you don't want to. Cats whether they are someones pet or wild, are still going to poo in your garden. If they weren't pets they wouldn't be neutered either so more wild cats for you!

A cat is a cat. Be it wild or a pet, your not going to it stop pooing in your garden so getting angry with cat owners is pointless. A wild cat would poo in your garden just as much as a pet one would.

HelenBaaBaaBlackSheep · 16/02/2011 21:09

Don't back on it - I have a dog and the cats still come in. But then the dog likes cats :)

HelenBaaBaaBlackSheep · 16/02/2011 21:09

^ bank on it I mean

DrNortherner · 16/02/2011 21:10

Cats and cat owners are selfish because cats shit in peoples gardens.

Oh yes, we should train them to use the toilet and remember to flush Hmm

MrsSparkle · 16/02/2011 21:12

Didn't the dad in meet the parents have a cat wh used the toilet and flushed?Grin

ClenchedBottom · 16/02/2011 21:13

If they weren't pets they wouldn't be so well fed either, would they? - So surely there wouldn't so so many of them? I'm not saying that at this point in time we can reverse the situation - I honestly wish that we could - but I'm fed up with hearing about how we've all just got to accept it. My neighbours choose to have lots of cats. Why exactly should we put up with them crapping all over our garden (the cats, I should clarify - if the neighbours start it too I'm going to have serious words with them!)

ClenchedBottom · 16/02/2011 21:14

"Cats and cat owners are selfish because cats shit in peoples gardens.

Oh yes, we should train them to use the toilet and remember to flush"

No, it's selfish because we are told not to make a fuss about it - you completely miss my point.

DrNortherner · 16/02/2011 21:15

Yes Mrs Sparkle he did!

Clenchedbottom - cats are amazing survivors and will find food believe you me. They are expert hunters and scavengers. Anyway what are you suggesting - that we ban folk from owning cats? Hmm

DrNortherner · 16/02/2011 21:16

But making a fuss about it is in fact pointless because cat owners can not prevent their cats from shitting in your garden. Same as we can't stop pigeons from shitting on your kitchen window.

MrsSparkle · 16/02/2011 21:17

No they wouldn't be so well fed which means they would hunt for food. Cats have a very natural hunting instinct and you would also have them roaming around looking for food in your bins. If the human race died out cats would be one of the last living things so they are tough survivers by nature.

MrsSparkle · 16/02/2011 21:21

I don't dispute how annoying it must be to have cat poo that isn't your cat in your garden. But being angry at cat owners is pointless and will not solve your problem if you stop letting them have cats as pets.

toeragsnotriches · 16/02/2011 21:24

Oh good! Let's get them a date. Absolutely no hint of anti freeze from me but I can't vouch for the behaviour of the cats. They are quite tough. And rough looking. We do live in Hackney, you know. Wink

MrsSparkle · 16/02/2011 21:27

My cat is a big, fluffy old softy. He comes and sits with me each evening on the sofa and purrs. I love my cat, he has been with me for 10 years and will miss him greatly when he goesSad

outnumbered2to1 · 16/02/2011 21:28

i scoop the cat poo out of my flower garden and put it in a nice wee plastic bag and give it to the cat's owner. That's only when i'm not fast enough with the water spray to stop the horrid little bugger digging up my freshly planted flowers and crapping all over my garden

anonandlikeit · 16/02/2011 21:29

YOUR pets are shitting all over MY garden, cats aren't selfish the owners are.

If you can't control a pet don't bloody own one when you have neighbours.

I don't let my kids come & shit in your garden so don't allow your cats to come & shit in mine,

MrsSparkle · 16/02/2011 21:30

Would you prefer it then if wild cats came pooing in your garden? Who would you blame then?

toeragsnotriches · 16/02/2011 21:31

Grin outnumbered2to1

Our neighbour's garden is soooo overgrown (the cat's owner) I just chuck it back over the fence. I mean, we're talking fairytale overgrown. She'll never notice. And I feel marginally better. And it cracks up the kids. (I am a bad bad mother, I know.)

DreamsInBinary · 16/02/2011 21:33

How would you feel if I lived next door and my dog pooed in your garden every day? Would that be OK?
