I'm not veggie (luckily!) but just noticed this on the carton. Do all infant formulas contain fish oil? Bizarre

Because it does and the harsh tone in which you use Leoni. Good on you, battled through, but not everyone is like you, and have to do the best they can in their situation why cant you see that, or at least have a little understanding Hmm. At the time I had no idea of the medication you could use to keep supply up, tbh I was not in the right frame of mind. Now after joining Mumsnet I am more informed. Gosh If I had read your postings then when I had difficulties it would have sent me over the edge.

Yes the most important thing is that the baby is fed whether it is bm or formula. Formula is an adequate substitute to bm, I have a happy and healthy little girl to show for it, I did not do too badly on it myself.

There Biscuit.

Have read the whole thread.

Leonie your opinions do not matter to me.

What matters to me is that you seem fit to berate others.

You come across as rabid, wholoeheartedly unpleasant, superior and unable to consider another point of view. Not massively nice traits.

Not that my opinion will matter to you.

Much as I hate myself for it, your opinion does matter to me, because it helps me to beat myself up about my utter failure as a breastfeeder. 3 times I tried and 3 times I failed, and ended up formula feeding. I won't bother going into my 'excuses' as to why I gave up, because they would probably fail to come up to your exacting standards.

You congratulate yourself on not, 'fannying about mincing words for fear of 'making FFers feel guilty' or 'upsetting someone'.' But don't you see how an attitude like yours alienates people from interesting and informative threads like these, about the issues surrounding breastfeeding and formula.

This is not an interesting or informative thread. Most of it is utterly horrible BFing bashing which shows absolutely no-one in a good light, much like many of the other threads into which MN has disintegrated.

Oh no really Sad altinkum, no we dont know whos behind the screen and what problems or challenges they face. The as the old saying goes 'sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me', they do and yes they can hurt more than stones.

lollymad · 16/02/2011 20:47

TCOB this did start as an interesting and informative thread - unfortunately it has been hijacked by a particularly opinionated (and by the way pro BFing) poster, who has managed to alienate almost everyone on here. Can't see I've seen any BFing bashing - more like self righteous 'I did it despite problems so everyone should' cobblers, with no considerations whatsoever for those who can't/couldn't BF, and feel bad enough about it already.

pigletmania · 16/02/2011 20:47

Think we all need one of these Wine, for those who dont drink at Brew

lollymad · 16/02/2011 20:49

Unless as altinkum says you were meaning Bottle Feeding, in which case ignore me completely! Grin

Altinkum - sorry, no, I breastfeed at the mo therefore am probably judged as one of the misguided BFing mafia/ Nazis/ insert your own horrible insult Sad. But I'm actually quite normal and cannot see that this awful thread has made anyone feel better about anything in their lives.

I have read the thread though to be honest I think it's one of the saddest I have seen so must stop coming back to it.
I just don't understand how we have arrived here. I've got a gorgeous 1940s book on childcare which says something along the lines of 'BF your baby if you can but if you can't then you must resolve to make a great success of bottle feeding.' All seems so simple. In RL I don't know BFers who don't like FFers and I don't know any FFers who don't like BFers but on here it seems so nasty Sad.
