to ask how you have your steak?

I went out for supper with friends, and the Mrs friend ordered her steak "super well done, without an inch of blood or redness", Mr Friend ordered it "blue, just a flash in the pan". I ordered it "medium rare".

How do you eat your steak? I can't understand why you would order it well done...?

Mooing.

verytellytubby · 10/02/2011 20:09

Medium rare. DH has it blue.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 10/02/2011 20:10

Rare. But am veggie at the mo, on a health kick post pregnancy...

Gleekfreak · 10/02/2011 20:10

Medium, so it's brown on outside, pink in middle but NO blood :o

TragicallyHip · 10/02/2011 20:10

Medium rare or sometimes just rare.

Can't fathom why people would have it burnt to a crisp Hmm

aPixie · 10/02/2011 20:11

Invisible. I hate steak.

My mum say's "I like my steak the way I like my men.... Dead"

namechangerbutcurious · 10/02/2011 20:11

Blue. Just sealed.

Thingumy · 10/02/2011 20:11

Medium rare if it's rump or sirloin

Blue if it's fillet.

Lovecat · 10/02/2011 20:11

I like it medium rare, but often ask for it just like your friend's DH if I suspect the restaurant doesn't take steal seriously - nowt worse than overdone steak in my book!

pointythings · 10/02/2011 20:12

Walk the cow through a warm room - done.

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 20:12

Medium rare or rare, depends on how good the restaurant is! Rarer in better joints. Weel don steak...whats the point? Might as well pour some Béarnaise on your shoe and eat that!

Lovecat · 10/02/2011 20:12

Steal? Steak!

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 20:12

Well done. Fucking on-screen keyboard!

LadyOfTheManor · 10/02/2011 20:12

Eurgh if it's fillet I go for a little more than medium!

My mother eats it flapping about on her plate.

Why does the "blood" aspect put people off?

Alive and in a field, attached to the rest of the animal it belongs to. :)

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/02/2011 20:13

Blue for fillet, rare for any other cut, tartare in France.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 10/02/2011 20:15

Mmmmmmm steak tartare.....

:(

dawntigga · 10/02/2011 20:15

Medium to medium rare.

EnjoysMeatTiggaxx

MrsChemist · 10/02/2011 20:17

Rare or medium rare.

tigitigi · 10/02/2011 20:17

100% well done and I send it back if there is any hint of pink, can't stand raw meat. I have had confrontations where chefs have refused to serve me the way I want it as they feel it is an insult to their choice of meat.

It is not squeamishness come from a farming family but think it tastes so much better cooked. My real preference is braised though

Foreverondiet · 10/02/2011 20:17

When I was pregnant I ordered well done and my friend also pregnant ordered super well done. Mine was burnt on both sides but some edible flesh in the middle. Friends was burnt to a crisp!!!!

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/02/2011 20:18

Can you not eat rare meat whilst pregnant then?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/02/2011 20:18

Rare. Mmmmmm.

LadyOfTheManor · 10/02/2011 20:19

Yes- at home I have refused to cook it "super well done" for Mrs friend, and always cook a different piece of meat for her...I feel that it is

a) a waste of meat to eat it like that

b) an insult to my excellent seasoning and cookng

c) a waste of a decent "joint" or "cut".

Just politely introduce the cow to the pan, "Cow, pan, pan, cow", then eat while it's still mooing. I agree with pointy, "Walk the cow through a warm room - done."

8 years of vegetarianism wasted... At least I try to make sure that the cow had a happy life and died quickly.
