To wish that incompetent car drivers should stick to public transport?

Having nearly been involved in an accident this morning due to the woman driver indicating one way and then turning the other, AIBU to suggest that some people should simply not be allowed to drive?

The overly timid and indecisive drivers are almost as bad as the loons who drive everywhere at 100 miles an hour. People on mobiles, applying eyeliner, smoking cigarettes, eating food ... the list of idiocy I see goes on and on.

AIBU to think that many drivers should be limited to public transport until they learn to drive adequately?

those little fuckers who sit in the middle lane.
Gits who drive at 21 miles an hour with driving gloves on.
Numptys who leave a 500 yrd gap in traffic jams. Kill them all bastards.
oo twats who break for no reason at all in the outside lane.
Cunties who slow down when they are overtaking people on the outside lane.
I could go on and on

methsdrinker · 09/02/2011 22:24

sods who zoom past schools especially the ones with their music so loud that their ears are bleeding

methsdrinker · 09/02/2011 22:29

twats on bikes who drive two abreast.
A Lorry and car is harder than you are Mooove.

Lorries who practically skin you when you are on your bike they are so close to you.
I am on a bike i am a delicate soft thing give me room

CockularDepravity · 09/02/2011 22:30

I'm rather envious of the rage that you are mustering here, methsdrinker. I thought that I got upset.

OP posts:
methsdrinker · 09/02/2011 22:30

loons who don't look in their mirrors when opening the door of their car and practically swipe you off your bike as they lurch out of their 4 x 4

VivaLeBeaver · 09/02/2011 22:31

The person in the 4x4 who reversed into me today and totalled my car. He couldn't see me as he has a "big blind spot" in his huge 4x4. Right outside school at drop off time as well - how dangerous.

methsdrinker · 09/02/2011 22:32

CD shit day at work, crap drive home, kids being whiney due to me being a late absent parent. Its just the guilt of being a working mum and having to drive near a load of twats.

I feel strangley cleansed though

CockularDepravity · 09/02/2011 22:34

Drivers who maintain the same speed even when the speed limit changes. You cannot drive at 40 in a 30 zone and you shouldn't then continue to drive at 40 when it becomes a 70 zone.

Utter, utter clowns.

The same goes for the twat I saw going around a roundabout, texting on his fucking mobile phone AngryShock

Idiot!!

nemofish · 09/02/2011 22:36

So you have never made a mistake while driving then, OP?

I would think that a huge proportion of drivers were unsure and hesitant when starting driver just after passing their test.

The truth is we don't all start driving like we have been doing it for years. It's tough shit and you just have to put up with it, you can't stop new drivers driving Hmm and if you are not speeding, and keeping the correct distance from the neurotic driver car, then hopefully barring them doing something absolutely fucking stupid you should be fine.

Wouldn't an experienced driver note the road position of a car, not just the indication? Huh? Huh?

ivykaty44 · 09/02/2011 22:38

never underestimate the stupidity of some people/drivers

CockularDepravity · 09/02/2011 22:41

nemofish, I knew within your first sentence that you had only just started driving. You sound terribly defensive.

In time, you'll come to understand my point.

Dropdeadfred · 09/02/2011 22:42

Lol Nemofish - I passed my test in Jan this year - still hope i don't do half the stuff emnioned in this thread...but hey, we ar not all 'seasoned' drivers!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/02/2011 22:42

DH was in a serious car accident several yeats ago when he was hit head on near Kirkby Stephen by a Renault Master Van, luckily he was in brand new Vectra at the time and they are built like tanks!

The van driver was over taking a skip lorry on a blind bend on a foggy morning. He was prosecuted for careless driving Angry

Dropdeadfred · 09/02/2011 22:43

emnioned = mentioned Blush

Dropdeadfred · 09/02/2011 22:44

Kara - thank fuck he was okay!!! Shock

Amieesmum · 09/02/2011 22:56

AND the stupid twat that drove into my car at the hospital today cos they were trying to steal the parking space i was already driving into! Fucking idiot!!! I'd qued for 15 minutes like every one else, WHY should he steal MY space, that i'd waited for! Grrr!

methsdrinker · 09/02/2011 22:57

nemofish The people I get annoyed at are the people who have been driving for years and are just crap drivers.
We were all beginners once. It still amazes me how crap I was when I started. I still do the odd daft thing now.
please though if you are on a motorway do not hog the middle lane.
Please please drive faster than lorries thats at least 58 miles an hour. Cos if you don't then lorries over take you and clog up the whole motorway.

Hmmm. Is starting to sound like you're talking about yourself :o

Of course you can drive at 30 in a 40 zone or 40 in a 70 zone. It may be legal to drive up to the limit - but that doesn't mean its always sensible or safe to do so (and that's not to say I never drive above 15 mph nor curse the stereotypical driver in a flat cap that goes at 70 on the straights and 25 round the bends...).

I feel safest assuming that all other drivers have the potential to be imbeciles and, as such, should be treated with the utmost caution Wink

Tangle · 09/02/2011 22:58

Not to mention those people who can't make italics work Blush

doubleease · 09/02/2011 23:11

Meths How do you know, when you are behind someone, whether they have been driving for years?

lesley33 · 09/02/2011 23:19

I passed my test only a year ago and I'm afraid I am a crap driver. I don't do stupid things like use my mobile and drive. But am I sometimes overly hesitant; do I end up going in the wrong lane going round a roundabout; do I fail to see a speed bump and hit it at 30 miles an hour?

Yes to all these faults and many more. Sorry to all the other drivers who get annoyed with me. But I don't do it on purpose - I'm just not a great driver. Although I haven't had an accident....yet.

NormanTheForeman · 09/02/2011 23:25

I learned to drive. I wasn't very good at it. I gave it up and use public transport.

A lot of people scoff at me and say I should have carried on driving, but I didn't want to take the (very real) risk that I might end up killing or seriously injuring soemone.
