I’m skint and think this is a good way to pay off some debts – AIBU?

I?m a single parent and although I have a day job it?s minimum wage, so like most people money is tight. I have debts to pay off and anything extra is very much needed so I can get back on an even keel. I started doing webcam work a few months ago after a suggestion from a friend who?s in a similar industry (she?s an escort), and it?s helping me to pay off my debts and give me a bit of extra cash to treat my DC. I can?t do a second job outside the house as I have no evening childcare for my DC, so in that respect it?s ideal. At present I only work on the cams for approx. 3 hours on Friday and Saturday nights when DCs in bed and although there are some time wasters on the site I work from, most of the blokes are fine (with some interesting requests!) and I have a few regulars, one of which spends approx £40-50 a time when he has a show with me.

I know the moral majority won?t approve and will say that I?m being exploited, used, abused etc. but they are the ones paying a lot of money to see me put on a show, so surely it's the other way around! I just dress up, watch TV until a show is requested then do a bit of a dance and a strip tease and watch the money to stack up as the minutes pass - so who?s the fool?! I?m not a victim, as I choose to do this and actually enjoy the fact that these men are paying me to put on a show for them. They can?t touch me, have no idea where I live or even what my real name is, so it?s safe from that point of view, and if I don?t like them for any reason I can kick them out of my ?room?. Obviously I?ve only been doing it a few months and the novelty may wear off, but if things go well, my friend has suggested I could branch out into the odd bit of escorting as well to up my income a bit more.

AIBU doing this to make a bit of much-needed extra cash?

By that I mean be adult ffs, there is no need to name call to make your point if your point stands well by itself.

MrSpoc · 10/02/2011 17:31

Here Here LDNmummy, you talk much sense

why dont you re-read. i have only replyed in the same manner to people who have clearly got an isssue with me. in fact my calling someone a little girl was very mild compared to the spineless Cunt i got before. Would you not agree?

Aitch · 10/02/2011 17:40

"MrSpoc Thu 10-Feb-11 15:12:16

Aitch it is very relivant. how many women prostitues sleep with women who pay them?

If it a stupid statement you made."

afaia female prostitutes sleep with women if they are paid to do so. that's rather the point, isn't it?

meretrix, i think your posts are really interesting. and in a way they answer mrspoc's 'we all sell ourselves in our jobs' line. i would not want to work in a job that i wasn't happy with, ethically, or one that i felt i was being damaged by, regardless of the role, or indeed regardless of the wage. i know a few bankers, for example, who it seemed to me lost themselves completely in their jobs and became hard, cruel people who found it difficult to take muuch joy from their relationships. consequently i wouldn't advise my child to become a banker.

it seems to me, meretrix, that you are saying that there is more existential danger to be aware of wrt prostitution than simple physical violence. it all sounds v complicated in your head, i hope you sort it all through. and were the fish fingers good? Wink

QueenBathsheba · 10/02/2011 17:41

Mr Spok stated earlier that he doesn't know why some men would pay for sex.

In terms of internet sex, it's primarily to do with 2 things, availability and the fact that these men are sold sex in the same way that companies sell cars or any other commodity. Men are influenced and come to believe that they can not live without it, they must purchase sex on the net (Camming or porn films) At a subtle level any minor unhappiness with their partners becomes an opportunity for someone else to make shit loads of money.

It's not just women that are being exploited, men are exploited for their cash, women for their bodies and no one gains.

i did answer the question. i use the language because it is english. there is nothing wrong with using littles girl.

You do realise your post is also very contradicting. I lack intelligance becasue i mirror other people. You will find the ability to mirror other people is a great skills to have and is used in many jobs. Banking, Supply Chain, Sales, Businesss development

Now why dont you aks the same question the the perosn i replyed to why they felt the need to call me a

Slime ball
Spinless Twat
Talk Shite
Plus many more

all because i disagree with thier view point. but you wont because you are a hipocrite

JimmyChooChoo · 10/02/2011 17:52

MrSpoc-I never called you a cuntShock
I would never call anyone that.
I called you spineless because you said you would be more than happy to drive your daughter around to punters houses to sell sex.
Even if that was said as a joke it's still sick.

MrSpoc · 10/02/2011 17:53

jimmy i got it wrong you only called me a Spinless Twat. that ism uch better.

scurryfunge · 10/02/2011 17:54

But hey, if the cap fits....

MrSpoc · 10/02/2011 17:55

oh scurry, and i was starting to really like you.

GORGEOUSX · 10/02/2011 18:16

Mr Spoc - unfortunately you are experiencing a typical reaction on MN.

There are an awful lot of posters who love to hurl insults around and be aggressive and argumentative because they've got nothing better to do.

I'm soooo bored of MN and the hysterical women on here who get so wrapped up in words on a screen.

Chatelaine · 10/02/2011 18:17

Girls, girls, it's all getting a bit scary now, back off and breath

QueenBathsheba · 10/02/2011 18:18

GERGEOUSX bye then Smile

JimmyChooChoo · 10/02/2011 18:27

Yes GORGEOUSX goodbye! If that's the 'typical reaction on MN' then why are you on it?

QueenBathsheba · 10/02/2011 18:41

Iv'e got lots of things to do unfortunately, but I love it here. Smile and no hysterics here, only the side splitting giggling sort.

LDNmummy · 10/02/2011 18:44

Yes GORGEOUSX I totally agree with you. Been a member for only a few weeks now but understand why other mum forums criticise MN users when I see this kind of behaviour. Very childish and unecessary.

Alot of hysteria and name calling over something some of these women have no experience of in the first place.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2011 18:45

I think a more interesting question for MrSpoc to answer would be ""Would you support your son in selling access to his anus to any john who fancies buying it ?"

What say you ?

Would you drive him around to his customers and advise him on how to "stay safe" ?

reluctanthomosapien · 10/02/2011 18:46

Do you need to have been a prostitute to have a valid opinion for or against?

scurryfunge · 10/02/2011 18:48

Massive assumptions being made there LDN and no hysteria here.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2011 18:48

LDN...have you done webcamming or escorting work then ?

reluctanthomosapien · 10/02/2011 18:49

Also, since you are not a mother, LDNMother, does that invalidate all your opinions or views on what a mother might feel about the prospect of her daughter becoming a prostitute?

reluctanthomosapien · 10/02/2011 18:50

And since MrSpoc is a man who has never been or used a prostitute, why do you think his opinion is valid?
