some of the opinions posted are hideously ignorant, largly offensive show the poster to be a cunt.

it has nothing to do with polictical correctness or netmums fluffyness.

it is all to do with the poster being a total and utter wanker

OP posts:

It's lonely on the moral high ground, and they can see better to sling their crappy theories.
Why shouldn't we put on our docs and some shit kicking music and join in the scrap if that's what would make us feel better?
Better to fight than weep and rock whilst your children are under attack.
IMO.

balloonballs · 07/02/2011 20:36

A wank of cunty mcCuntys.

My spread sheet is overloading It's gonna blow captain, it can't take no more.

MrsRichardHammond · 07/02/2011 20:36

Sometimes it's better to state your position and walk away imo

Goblinchild · 07/02/2011 20:36

Give it all you've got Scotty.

SoupDragon · 07/02/2011 20:36

Lawks a mercy! I didn't realise that we shold not voice our opinions with

gordyslovesheep · 07/02/2011 20:37

YANBU and it's a fitting description

On BMC this thread worked because it was mainly humours and any arguments easily resolved - but BMC is a small and tight knit community

MN is massive and has a fair few 'ohhh look at me being all shocking' and 'lets get them worked up for fun' type cunts with a fair few ' a bit thick and reads the sun slowly' peeps - so it falls into petty point scoring and nasty comments

which is sad as I like both sites and have found a lot of MN's are funny, witty and sane x

talkingnonsense · 07/02/2011 20:37

I thought most people were being quite funny and Tongue in cheek, but the mobility car one, eg, was grim- but the poster was pulled up on it. It was quite nice to just vent.

balloonballs · 07/02/2011 20:38

Is the thread gone?

MrsRichardHammond · 07/02/2011 20:38

Swearwords are fine, i swear plenty thanks, but resorting to insults etc i don't think helps matters. JMO of course :)

Goblinchild · 07/02/2011 20:40

My opinion is that ADHD exists as a recognised and disabling condition that affects the ability of an individual to access education and other rights that should be available to all, Mrs RH.
Yet you will always have doubters and finger-pointers that insist it is poor parenting, poor diet or being born under the wrong star sign.
And I feel they are ignorant, harmful and should be pilloried.
Stocks are far too comfortable for the likes of them.

Fair enough but you would do far more to fight your corner if you did so in a manner that educates and appeals than demeans and insults.

Goblinchild · 07/02/2011 20:46

Peachy tried that MRH, but sometimes the message doesn't get through.
So it may need to be made more emphatically, and with shorter, less taxing vocabulary.

Lovely to see you swanning around and not just on the Feminist board Lady R.

I don't think it could be denied that ADHD IS overdiagnosed and that these cases do not help your cause at all. Thats what i think anyway.

BitOfFun · 07/02/2011 20:48

I avoided it entirely- you could just tell from the title that it was serious cunty territory.

Francagoestohollywood · 07/02/2011 20:49

I posted on it, thinking it was a lighthearted thread, but then I left, due to a huge number of reactionary stances which I didn't find remotely funny.

cobbledtogether · 07/02/2011 20:51

OP, YANBU

Being a bigot is never "just for fun" and ending an offensive post with a :) just makes you look even more of a twat.

I don't think it is over diagnosed - afaik it is v hard to get a diagnoses. It's the parents who say " oh he's a bit ADHD" with no professional support or evidence, and therefore do all the Children who actually have ADHD a disservice because it cheapens the whole idea. Like muddling allergies and intolerences, when you can die from an allergy, but people don't realise how serious it is, iyswim, because they only know people who get tummy ache from onions for example.

MrsRichardHammond · 07/02/2011 20:53

Fair point.

Perhaps it's more aimed at the "my child isn't naughty he's just got mild adhd" brigade the "my child has to have a syndrome to explain my poor parenting" set rather than the parents who fight tooth and nail to do whats best for their DC's

BurnAfterReading · 07/02/2011 20:55

MrsRH - my ex nephew was a right little fucker, his behaviour was rotten, he was rotten to the core - in fact if he appeared on news in 10 years time being charged with an awful crime, i would not be surprised, his grandparents said they thought he had ADHD and used that as an excuse when he behaved terribly in church.

He did not and does not have ADHD. His parents were awful people and too lazy to teach him properly or even discipline him.

I think this may be the reason for your opinion (I may be wrong) but I do understand where you are coming from - with ADHD being an excuse for bad behaviour, but saying it as a general thing gets peoples backs up - because there are sufferers I think and it's a hard thing to deal with.

Sorry I wanted to expand on this but gotta go see to dd ..... apologies for typing and running :)

MrsRichardHammond · 07/02/2011 20:56

Thanks Burn you've just summed it up perfectly for me :)

balloonballs · 07/02/2011 20:58

Mrs hammond for the love of god what is wrong with you?

Why are you repeating yourself? You've made your point about ADH, which by the way I was unaware was anyones cause now just leave it.
