I mean it's so clearly such a great stinking heap of horse shit, how can anyone actually believe it?
Another mum at playgroup today was telling me what kind of personality my 9 month old will have based solely on her star sign.
All pleasant enough stuff but she actually believed it.
What's wrong with people?

i thought there were 13 starsigns?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 01/02/2011 19:15

Has anyone clicked on my link about the star signs changing dates and the creation of a new star sign altogether?

bettybosseye · 01/02/2011 19:15

YABU (I bet you're a Scorpio - unreasonable-ness (unreasonability??) is a known trait)

I'm liking the idiot detector idea, other things that might set it off are enjoying jeremy kyle and believing that people can communicate with the dead.

How 'exact' Lamorna? Do they have to be born in the same town? the same building? the same room? at the same time to share personality traits Because if it's exactly the same time & place, that really means one baby......

MrsChemist · 01/02/2011 19:21

YANBU it is, without a doubt, utter bollocks.

Hullygully · 01/02/2011 19:21

Pluto was a Big Deal in my star sign and it got demoted. Thrown out just like that. I am now rudderless.

bettybosseye · 01/02/2011 19:23

Poor hullygully, you may be rudderless but you made me laugh.

OP posts:

Maybe businesses use them by not employing those that take them seriously?

MrsChemist · 01/02/2011 19:25

Has anyone seen Dave Gorman's important astrological experiment? It's great and well worth a watch if you can find a copy.

Hullygully · 01/02/2011 19:26

that's because i've got 15 trines in my third house.

Lamorna · 01/02/2011 19:26

If you start up a business and want them to be successful than you chose the best time to start-same if you want to go in a different direction.
Christeen Skinner is a famous one see here I don't know which businesses, they don't usually admit to it, but they find it a useful tool. You can ridicule it all you like but I wonder how many of you have studied it-not many I imagine.

Hullygully · 01/02/2011 19:33

I am going to be Christeen (love that spelling) when I grow up. Or I would be if I hadn't lost my rudder.

gerontius · 01/02/2011 19:38

I had to laugh at that woman's title of "business astrologer".

twirlymum · 01/02/2011 19:40

I would imagine the only businesses that would use it to determine which staff to employ would be those shops that sell bits of rose quartz and fairy shite.

By that of course, I mean fairy related shite, not fairy faeces. Because fairies don't exist.

Lamorna · 01/02/2011 19:41

I think she makes a lot of money, Hullygully, so can't be bad. She gets business through word of mouth, through success. If I were to set up a business I would certainly choose the right day, it would be silly not to. Gardeners who plant according to the moon find it very successful. It doesn't bother me if people mock! It certainly helps me understand people.

Snorbs · 01/02/2011 19:41

If Christeen Skinner had any kind of faith in the accuracy of her predictive skills then she could win a million dollars. Odd how she hasn't applied. And how fortunate sad that she can't reveal the names of any of the companies she's "consulted" for so that her claims can be verified.

Until there have been any proper scientific study that backs astrology, I'm quite happy to say that it's bullshit.

bettybosseye · 01/02/2011 19:41

I don't doubt that people like Christeen can make alot of money out of this stuff but that doesn't give it any credibility.

I just read my star sign and it really gave me hope because it made me believe I will fight off this incurable terminal illness I have, I guess not though, I shall just go and curl up in a corner and die Sad

Lamorna · 01/02/2011 19:43

She is a business astrologer and you can mock all you like twirlymum, but that isn't the sort of business she helps. She gets work and she makes money, they are business people and don't pay out for rubbish. She has been working for years at it.

bettybosseye · 01/02/2011 19:43

Lamorna, can you tell what star sign people are when you meet them? (genuine question)Smile

OP posts:
Lamorna · 01/02/2011 19:45

Some of her success here

Hullygully · 01/02/2011 19:45

I can.
