to think other peoples babies are ugly

I'd say that 95% of babies are ugly, I look at them in the street and think my god look at those ears, the head of that one is a perfect square shape, thats a female! etc.

Then I look at mine and he's a handsome little chap and perfect, but I'm sure as I walk down the street with him someone else is thinking my god look at those ears etc.

yabu ALL Mothers think theirs is the nicest...but they can usually still see the beauty in others.

YANBU. The other babies are hideous. Their mothers are weeping secret tears that theirs don't look like your little angel.

I know. I've been there. A friend told me my dd looked like a little Jewish accountant with a combover, but I know she was just jealous.

I realised thought that dd2 was quite the most exquisite speciman ever. But my friend told me she looked like she'd been whacked in the face with a pan. Ho hum.

all babies are ugly.

We only think ours are the exception to the rule. I look at the photos of mine as newborns and oh my god! I thought that they were the most gorgeous little bundles ever to have been born.

They actually looked like a cross between shrek and a bulldog

My neice looked like les dawson.

newborns are always ugly. Nature just cons us into thinking ours are wonderful so that we don't abandon them and run away screaming.

Looking back at photos, I was a beauuuuutiful little baby, it all started to go wrong when my mother mutilated me at the age of 6 by giving me a home-cut short back and sides. I don't think my confidence has ever recovered!

All babies are munters. I remember sitting up in the hospital bed after both of mine (separately, not twins) with relatives going 'Awwww isn't she/he gorgeous' and thinking "Good God are you BLIND? It's MINGING. Hope it looks better when it smooths out a bit..."

Even small children - they're all gorgeous.
It's once they hit 11 or 12...

Sorry Tall but there really is...2 of mine were shockers as babies..thinkk a pink E.T. Thankfully they changed as they got older but the baby photos speak for themselves. Just wait till they get boy/girl friends..those photos wil be worth a bribe!!

I agree with you, you get used to looking at your own baby, so different ones look odd and a bit wrong. My babies have all had nice massive big round heads, so babies with tiny pea heads just look wrong to me.

I actually had a woman say to me "your children don't look like the children around here, they are very cute" . Maybe it's the pea head thing.

I also have a niece who the family constantly say is beautiful etc, I say meh. My dd is much prettier,

Well she is.

I remember bragging to all and sundry about how Puurrfect! DS was when he was born - all plumperlicious and cute . And he didn't have a pointy misshapen head AT ALL! Oh no.

Then months later, I had a good look at the photos his Dad took of him when he was 3 hours old.

Pointy head - check.

Looked just like Winston Churchill - check.

Bright orange (jaundice) - check.

Some babies are ugly, but I don't think 95% of then are. They quite often don't look their best until a few days or so old though.

YANBU at all!

I've only ever seen one truly beautiful baby, except for mine who I obviously thought were beautiful at the time.
