to think other peoples babies are ugly

Ryoko · 22/01/2011 23:53

I'd say that 95% of babies are ugly, I look at them in the street and think my god look at those ears, the head of that one is a perfect square shape, thats a female! etc.

Then I look at mine and he's a handsome little chap and perfect, but I'm sure as I walk down the street with him someone else is thinking my god look at those ears etc.

Tall - no. she doesn't look like a cute little piglet from the film Babe. She looks like a proper big farmyard pig. I am just referring to her face and not her size btw. And yes, I know I am the cruellest person ever for thinking this. Luckily I am very good at keeping my thoughts to myself when required.

My (quite lovely looking in my objective opinion) five year old girl looks like a troll on her passport photo. Immigration officers faint in horror at the sight....

tallwivglasses · 23/01/2011 01:36

Well I'd need to see a picture but I know that's not possible (or ethical!)

Many ugly ducklings turn into swans, we all know that...

tallwivglasses · 23/01/2011 01:38

tiggy Grin That's not true!

PatPending · 23/01/2011 01:39

tallwivglasses .... psst ...being a Grandma is soooooo fab.
Love it!!

FaffTastic · 23/01/2011 01:39

You're right, she is only 2 so there is plenty of time. Unfortunately she takes after her father look-wise (BIL) who in his mid-30s and still has the face of a pig (and the personality to match but hey ho).

But I love her really, pig-nose and all Smile

lemonsquish · 23/01/2011 01:40

Ha ha, I remember when I was in hospital after having DDs. I looked at the others in the bay I was on and said how lovely they were, while thinking 'don't think much of yours'!!!! Its horrible to think that i thought like that. I think it must be nature making you more protective of your own babies.

PS I now think all babies are beautiful (just not as beautiful as mine were)

outnumbered2to1 · 23/01/2011 01:41

My DS1 came out looking like he was inside out. All bright red and wrinkly.

DS2 came out looking like a freeze dried walnut he has so many wrinkles.

but if you look at the pics on my profile you will see that at almost 7 and almost 4 they have filled out all their nooks and crannies and are absolutley gorgeous.....

tallwivglasses · 23/01/2011 01:57

Sorry, I can't help it, I think all babies are gorgeous.

PatPending, thanks Grin

ChunkyPickle · 23/01/2011 02:04

Obviously mine is better looking than almost every other baby I see (included the ones on the nappy packets)

He just pulls faces in pictures to make him look like a garden gnome Wink

Mishy1234 · 23/01/2011 06:48

When PFB was a few weeks old we went out for lunch. As we were leaving a woman looked at DS and said "they all look like slugs at this age don't they!". I couldn't believe she had been so rude about my gorgeous baby.

Looking back, she wasn't that far off the mark!

Samraves · 23/01/2011 08:44

Lol, this has made me laugh so much! I always thought all babies were ugly until I had my beautiful cute dd... Now I haven't seen any more beautiful babies, but I have see a few who are nearly as gorgeous. Most still look pretty ugly to me though!

CockneySparra · 23/01/2011 08:46

I love all babies. I've never thought a baby was ugly. I might think they have big ears or an odd shaped head or whatever...but I just couldn't think 'baby' and 'ugly' in the same sentence.

I can be objective, though. My Ds was a beautiful, beautiful baby. People used to stop me in the street to tell me how gorgeous he was. My DD, however, was a funny looking little chicken.

TheEvilDead2 · 23/01/2011 09:07

You should see baby TED2.

She is perfect. So there.

misdee · 23/01/2011 09:12

i make gorgeous babaies. no idea how as i am a minger pmsl

ManateeEquineOhara · 23/01/2011 09:18

I just told my son about this thread (as I was giggling away) - he said that people are just being weird so I should say that he looked like a bogey Hmm

He did not. He was gorgeous as was DD.

TattyDevine · 23/01/2011 09:20

Its funny how they keep changing though and the ugly duckling thing does happen a lot.

Some friends had a baby, they thought she was the most gorgeous thing ever, we thought she looked like your Christmas turkey, before you cook it.

Then she blossomed into quite a pretty blond toddlers, all fine.

Now she's a schoolgirl and she's gone a bit wrong again, and looks very overweight though is probably just about to have a growth spurt or something.

But then she'll probably have this growth spurt and a few years will go by and she'll be a teenager and she'll get some highlights and get a bit gangly and will look like a polish supermodel.

Then she might have 4 kids and it will go wrong again

etc...

poshsinglemum · 23/01/2011 09:20

YABU- most of them are so cute I don't even notice how ugly they are. My dd was plain georgeous. everyone said so!

PlasticLentilWeaver · 23/01/2011 09:27

Pan is wrong. All babies are fugly, except mine, who are universally acknowledged as beautiful.

I think its quite a normal response. I'm rubbish at cooing over babies, but have restrained myself from telling everyone else how unfortunate they are not to have perfection like me Grin

porcamiseria · 23/01/2011 09:28

OK to think this, but NOT to say it

you are MEAN

misdee · 23/01/2011 09:29

i would link a pic to my newest baby but now scared someone will say he is ugly [sobs at shattered beliefs]

nah he is a stunner, am not showing you cos you'll all be jealous. Wink

BoffinMum · 23/01/2011 09:31

I am with Queen Victoria on this.

I think most babies look like little old men or frogs, but are appealing nonetheless.

pigletmania · 23/01/2011 09:33

Each to their own!

memphis83 · 23/01/2011 09:35

when i was born i didnt have a name for 3 weeks so i was called ET, i came out chin 1st so my nose was flat to my face and i was yellow!!
my pfb was stuck in there trying to get out for over 40 hours so when he came out it looked like i had held him by his feet and hit his face against the wall, needless to say he is beautiful now Grin
a member of our family has had a baby and she looks like roland rat crossed with dumbo luckily even the mother thinks so!!

HumphreyCobbler · 23/01/2011 09:37

They gave me a dose of morphine after my CS with DD. I remember feeling sorry for the other mothers as their babies were ugly and mine was spectacularly beautiful. I thought "If they gave A-Levels for babies I would get an A* for this one"Blush

When the morphine wore off I realised that she had a rather flat interesting shaped nose. And was still covered in white stuff.
