Random old ladies touching my baby's hands!

AGHHHHHH

So this happened again...

In Tesco's the other day and my baby is in the trolley and I am shopping away when an old lady (I only put old as it has always been old ladies who have done this!) comes up to us and takes my baby's hand in hers...

I really really hate this! Why do people I do not know insist on touching my baby's hands? She puts them in her mouth still, I don't want random strangers who I don't know touching her hands.

Get orrrrfffff! I don't want people touching my baby's hands! One time, this other old lady who was coughing and sniffing came up and went to touch my baby's hand and was offended when I moved my baby away!

Do any of you ladies get annoyed by this or does it not bother you?!

What's a bit much? It's my opinion that the OP is a bit much. Actually the OP sounds borderline anti-social but maybe that's just me. I deplore the erosion of community and human interraction perpetrated by the 'oh my God, no germs on my baby please' brigade

Couldn't agree more!

MsKLo · 21/01/2011 21:06

friedtoacrisp it is not your opinion that is the matter here, it is the agressive way you chose to put it across and some of the statments that accompany your posts

friedtoacrisp · 21/01/2011 21:07

Well sorry but of course my opinion matters here - every bit as much as yours does. I can't help it if I find the feeble-minded a little trying to deal with. Sorry about that.

friedtoacrisp · 21/01/2011 21:07

Thank you mutz!

BlessedAssurance · 21/01/2011 21:08

wimple if a 'normal' person uses drugs and i see it on their hands then no they will not touch my precious baby:o

Ok,i admit that prostitute was not the right word to use so don't you give me a hard time about it,

but my question is why why should it be ok?
the same has been said about a pregnant belly,'let people touch your belly, you are rude to not allow them, they are only happy that you are going to have a child' wtf? when should personal space be 'personal',

How do you "see" drugs on someone's hands!? Am I being really naive here? Are you meaning open track marks?

HeathcliffMoorland · 21/01/2011 21:11

"I find the feeble-minded a little trying to deal with."

Sorry, I haven't actually seen any "feeble-mindedness" from the OP. Surely if your point is valid, there are more pleasant, convincing and intelligent ways to defend it?

WimpleOfTheBallet · 21/01/2011 21:11

If so I would change hairdressers! Find one with different customers!

marriednotdead · 21/01/2011 21:11

In answer to your question. Yes YABabitU.

I've had my DCs palms 'crossed with silver' when they were tiny and neither became ill from the filthy money.

Germs are essential to build immunity, and the odd incident like that is pretty harmless.

Relax a bit, please.

McHobbes · 21/01/2011 21:11

Yes i want to know too - answer please!

lucybrad · 21/01/2011 21:13

op I agree, I hate it when they do that. Talk look etc but dont touch. If I went up to an old lady and grabbed at her hand I would be arrested!

mercibien · 21/01/2011 21:14

give it a few years and you your children and you will be completly ignored.

Give it 50 more years and you will will be invisible as well, and treated by contempt by young mothers.Hmm

WimpleOfTheBallet · 21/01/2011 21:14

Oh my GOD Toughasoldboots! IF that was your first baby you win the NOT a pfb award!

I wouldn't mind anyone admiring or touching in the way you have said. I'd be flattered to be honest.

But I wipe the trolley handles (including anything DS2 might chew) before and after we go shopping - that's more of a ick to me.

MrsRigby · 21/01/2011 21:18

Possibly friedtoacrisp, quite possibly Grin

wimpleoftheballet I have just given birth (3 months ago) to my third child. So I guess all 3 of mine are PFBs Grin Grin Grin

lucybrad · 21/01/2011 21:18

why do people have to be so argumentative.

MsKLo · 21/01/2011 21:18

oh goodness!

poor you and poor baby!

OP posts:
WimpleOfTheBallet · 21/01/2011 21:20

Oh my GOD it gets worst Tough! Did it it the baby or just the pram! I'd probably have gone through the glass!

And lucybrad no you wouldn't...not if you were gving them a greeting and saying a kind word!

BlessedAssurance · 21/01/2011 21:20

How the feck do you see drugs on someones hands??considering that the drug of choice is some powder, and the person is dealing and putting some into their nose using their fingers, right next to the window where you can see them, then they see a cop and dash into the salon, sees your baby on your lap and make their way towards baby and grabs her fingers, that is my story,,believe it or not,,hell no,go away

MsKLo · 21/01/2011 21:20

have no problem with your opinion friedtoacrisp but being so agressive is just silly and making assumptions about how i am as a person makes you come across as silly too

i don't make assumptions how you are as a person or if your kids are 'freaks' from a comment you write

that is just rude and unecessary
