Ermd giyadas - please explain that there is not such thing as racism? Git me lots of examples of how it doesn't ever happen. I don't get what you are saying whatsoever.

giyadas · 21/01/2011 14:45

where did I say there was no such thing as racism?

Yep your right - you said there was no such think as reverse racism (I left out that word) -my mistake - huge fucking apologies.

But awaiting your answer.

ThePosieParker · 21/01/2011 14:47

My sister was attacked, she's white [gasp], in an area in England, St Pauls, by a gang of black teens calling her white whore...she's tiny and very unwhorelike. Is that racist? She's the dominant culture.

ThePosieParker · 21/01/2011 14:49

"This effectively means No Germans".....NOT ACTUALLY though, is it?

klauskinskiinthekinotech · 21/01/2011 14:49

This one uses public funds though Hope for and it does nothing to help with integration does it? It is also run by a white British man so he is a hypocrite. It still cannot be justified really.

giveitago · 21/01/2011 14:50

Oh and I can't fucking spell right now but my question still stands.

MrSpoc · 21/01/2011 14:51

oviously not ThePosieParker, no whitre person could ever exepriance racism as they are the dominent culture.

OP posts:
ThePosieParker · 21/01/2011 14:53

The more I think about this the more I think that this group is anti British, the only reason I can think of that they wouldn't want Brits there is to bitch about us.

klauskinskiinthekinotech · 21/01/2011 14:55

There are an awful lot of hypocrites on Mnet at the moment, I think I will start a thread on it. Oh and giyadas reverse racism was exactly one of the terms used by the man at the Coop press office, perhaps he should have known better though

NellieForbush · 21/01/2011 14:55

ok if there was a 'Womens support group' that didn't allow white women I would be pretty disgusted. Which is effectively what this is isn't it.

fedupofnamechanging · 21/01/2011 14:56

I suppose women's support groups are for women who've had really bad experiences and feel safer amongst other women. Also it does not exclude on the grounds of skin colour. If it was just a get together and chat group, then I do think it's wrong to exclude men, if the group is funded by public money. Nothing against groups excluding people if they don't fulfil the criteria, just in receiving public money and then doing so.

The women in this group are just getting together and chatting, therefore it is not right to exclude white British women.

giveitago · 21/01/2011 14:57

Erm- actually I'm being thick here - there's IS not such thing as reverse racism - as there's only racism and I firmly KNOW it be a universal thing.

MrSpoc · 21/01/2011 14:59

NellieForbush - no its not a support group of any kind, its just a toddler play group that does not like white british women.

OP posts:
MrSpoc · 21/01/2011 15:01

So how come no one has answered my question if its racism to for a group of ethnic girls to pick on a white girl by calling her names like "whitey" is this racist?

OP posts:
MrSpoc · 21/01/2011 15:03

And I agree there is no such term as reverse racism (this sounds wrong altogether).

It is just Racism no matter who dishes it out.

OP posts:
klauskinskiinthekinotech · 21/01/2011 15:03

They are all hiding now MrSpoc, the hypocrites can never give a truly convincing answer on these sorts of isssues.

MrSpoc · 21/01/2011 15:04

ahh i see.

OP posts:
scurryfunge · 21/01/2011 15:04

See MrSpoc, you have just about answered your own question.

And what the fuck is an ethnic girl?

giveitago · 21/01/2011 15:06

Yup - racism- no matter background or you views.

Racism is racism -no such thing as reverse racism - just racism. Nasty word but it is what it is. Very sad.

giyadas · 21/01/2011 15:08

give - well you wait for my answer and I'll wait for you to regain a bit of civility.

Posie - individuals may have personal prejudices but racism is systemic. It needs to have instituional and cultural power. I'm sorry to hear of your sister, yes the youths were driven by hatred, as are many attacks by both white and black people but it wasn't done with the power of british culture backing them up.
e.g. We live in a sexist society where rape isn't taken seriously. Our very culture contributes to it not being taken seriously. If one man rapes one woman, that is a hate crime but because our culture condones it in many samll ways it becomes systemic, therefore sexist.
I've tried to explain to the best of my ability, sorry if the analogy is a bit crude.

rockinhippy · 21/01/2011 15:10

I had practically the same thing happen to me in Clapham posieparker, my first ever stay in London was an eye opener to say the leastShock

& I'm pleased to say that "reverse" racism (all just racism to me :)) DOES hold up in this country...I had an old friend who was hounded out of his LA Flat due to racist taunts & vandalism by his ethnic neighbours,...... okay he was a hairy @rsed biker who wore a German helmet on his bike, but as his best friend was black & a regular visitor to his home, he could hardly be accused of being racist....... his complaints to the Police & council WERE eventually taken seriously, charges brought& he was rehoused.......probably the only time I've heard it taken seriously though

MIFLAW · 21/01/2011 15:10

Rockinhippy

Maybe it was a playgroup designed specifically to allow those children to maintain their native tongue?

Perhaps your use of English was, in fact, the only reason they didn't want you there?

Or perhaps they just didn't understand you?
