To think that resources are being wasted on underserving scrubbers

It makes me very angry to think that deserving parents, like Riven and her partner, are being denied the help the help they so clearly need when there are others in our society who are bleeding the system dry and giving nothing back. Please let me explain what I mean.

Where I live (and in other parts of the country too, I'm sure) there is a certain "underclass" of young women - you know the ones I mean - little scrubbers who clearly model themselves on Vicky Pollard - who are provided with everything by the State. They have not suffered abandonment, divorce or bereavement. They have not been made redundant or struggled to find a job - they have never tried to get one. They have chosen to become single mothers, straightout of school in many cases, so that they qualify for social housing and benefits to live on, claiming that they cannot work because they have a child. They think the world owes them a living and it is their right to claim all these things. I do not mean to suggest that they are typical of single parents or council tenants generally because I know that they are not. They are a feckless, but very visible, minority.

Why should the country waste resouces on these selfish, irresponsible deadbeats who have chosen that lifestyle, at the expense of people in genuine need of help - the disabled, the vulnerable and those who through no fault of their own have ended up in very difficult circumstances?

Pascoe: all medical care is essential. For instance, you appear to think that 'surgery' is more important than 'nursing' (which I suspect is because you think that surgery is what men do and nursing, being what women do, can't possibly be important) - which displays a worrying level of medical ignorance. Just FYI any patient who has recieved surgery would need nursing care afterwards and might die if simply stitched up and left there.
I wouldn't exactly put 'guarding prisoners' ahead of waste disposal or maintaining the roads, either in terms of importance to society.
Have you ever spent time in one of those US backwoods hangouts full of wankers in fake combat gear, preparing for the Revolution/the Rapture? You'd probably have a lovely time. And don't worry about being buggered by Big Bubba on a Friday night, or accidetally shot by one of your fellow trigger-happy, needle-dicked 'freedom fighters', at least you won't be paying any taxes eh?

ToxicKitten · 21/01/2011 16:31

Feckless poor of the world unite!

Let us be feckless and happy regardless of what other people assume and get their knickers in a twist over.

If we are happy regardless that will really piss 'em off Grin

tethersend · 21/01/2011 16:40

Come now, BTP- don't be shy. You, like the rest of us who disagree with the OP live off the massive amount of tax ILikeMilk's DH and pascoe pay. Oh, hang on, not pascoe.

Do try to keep up.

cupcakebakerer · 21/01/2011 16:40

MrsDeVere: you raise a good point. I agree - there always is some 'backpeddling' as you put it. But I reckon the 'backpeddling' is a vain attempt of trying to have a fair discussion...i.e. people are prepared to admit that it's a small minority fiddling the system - but they do exist, don't they? Sadly there is no reasoning - not on these types of threads anyway.

I'm quite happy to go along with the assumption that I am a lazy feckless scrubber because I disagree with the OP.

The thought of living off some of these posters' hard-earned taxes gives me more satisfaction than any job ever could.

RobF · 21/01/2011 16:57

IMO the benefits system should be done away with. It has only been a negative for this country. People should get jobs, and if there are no jobs where they live, move to where there are jobs. End of.

Bringing up children on benefits is tantamount to child abuse IMO.

Funnily enough, I asked the daughter of a tax evading billionaire what she wanted to do when she grew up and she said 'raaah raaah raaah, I shall wear Jack Wills hoodies all the livelong day, and employ serfs like you to polish my, like, diamonds and stuff.' And that is for true, and it proves all my points.

What a flipping lie!

VinegarTits · 21/01/2011 17:00

pascoe = man scorned by a woman who dumped him ( for being a caveman wanker) then had the nerve to claim maintenance for their children?

Hopelesslydisorganised · 21/01/2011 17:01

It's great here isn't it?

Does DLA count as a benefit for my ASD son?
Does Child Benefit count as a benefit?
Do Tax Credits meet the benefits criteria too RobF?

If so I get all three - oh and get this - I work too. Amazing but there you go.

VinegarTits · 21/01/2011 17:04

And he has been over to twatsrus and recriuited rob, oh how entertaining Grin

Rocky12 · 21/01/2011 17:09

Ladies, please - I agree with everyone who says that the male no marks who create these children are equally to blame but one of the things that ONLY a women can do is have a baby.

Consequently - only have a child with someone that you know, who you can trust. I occasionally peek at the Lone Parents area. It is often full of women calling their ex partners every name under the sun but as a women I think we bear the higher burden of responsibility. We must choose carefully.

If you have never worked, are under the age of 20, have no qualifications and like a good time - be careful. You will be literally left holding the baby. Yes, you will get benefits but the way this government is going you will get less or (and I might be flamed for this!) be offered a place in a young mum and baby hostel.

tethersend · 21/01/2011 17:09

"Bringing up children on benefits is tantamount to child abuse IMO."

Thankfully, your opinion on what constitutes child abuse matters not a jot.

Although, thank you for strengthening the argument against the OP. Us bleeding heart liberals are ever so grateful for that.

JoanofArgos · 21/01/2011 17:10

'ladies, please'? Fuck off.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 21/01/2011 17:13

I just want to say that I OFTEN feel underserved and it's good that Mary Portas is looking into this.

Rocky12 · 21/01/2011 17:13

Can we stop the bad language please. It is not necessary
