following on from thread below about a poster wondering if she should as her dh to stay at home as she thought her son had swine flu .... she was looking forward to a bottle of wine once her dh was gone!!

i'd never drink if i was on my own with my son!!

I don't undertand all this "but what would happen if there was an accident?".

Have you ever thought they'd get a taxi? Like I have to when there is an accident as I don't drive. None of my children have yet been put at risk because of my non driver status.

Am I an irresponsible parent for not being able to drive, ever?

Also a bottle of wine only makes me feel slightlt fuzzy headed. Not at all pissed or drunk. I have a high tolerance to alcohol. Just because the op says she is having a bottle does not eman she is going to get steaming drunk and pass out in a pile of her own vommit.

JoBettany · 15/01/2011 15:55

scuzy at least you started a thread! I've been on here a wee while and still haven't. Grin

Ooopsadaisy · 15/01/2011 15:55

Hi Moon.

I agree that scuzy has maybe not used the clearest wording here.

I am just trying to find out exactly the discussion she is trying to have.

I have interpreted it as a debate about whether it is appropriate to drink alcohol whilst alone with dcs. I might be wrong.

It should really be under the other thread but scuzy has not done this to deliberately upset anyone as far as I can tell.

I'm just trying to play nice.

I think it's a reasonable and valid discussion to have and we will all have differing views/experiences/tolerance to alcohol etc.

scuzy · 15/01/2011 15:55

sigh

i just thought a bottle of wine was alot is all!!

I need waay more than a bottle of wine to get drunk.

JoBettany · 15/01/2011 15:57

Some people don't get drunk on one bottle though. I certainly would!

scuzy · 15/01/2011 15:57

bup listen i hope your little one is ok. this wasnt aimed at you your thread got me thinking but i do know i should have phrased it all better. i apologise

OP posts:
MoonUnitAlpha · 15/01/2011 15:58

A bottle over the course of an evening isn't a massive amount, and I don't even have that high a tolerance for it.

scuzy · 15/01/2011 15:59

jaysus maybe i should start drinking!! lol

OP posts:
bupcakesandcunting · 15/01/2011 15:59

Oh piss off.

Two glasses of wine do not render me an incapable parent. Next time you need to air your feelings do it to my face.

EricNorthmansMistress · 15/01/2011 16:00

I agree with tyzer. But you seem to have got that. For future reference - it's extremely rude to start a thread being rude about someone else's parenting instead of challenging them directly. Put yourself in her shoes and imagine how you'd feel?

YABU to be so judgemental about someone enjoying a bottle of wine, too. After a bottle of wine over an evening I would be more than capable of hearing DS if he woke, administering emergency first aid and calling an ambulance. Beak out.

Ooopsadaisy · 15/01/2011 16:00

dooinmecleanin - there you go you see!

A bottle of wine and I'm spannered.

I would not be able to deal with a sick dc appropriately after that.

We are all so different.

ok scuzy - you can come back out now.

scuzy · 15/01/2011 16:00

alrightythen!!

ChippingIn · 15/01/2011 16:01

MilkNoSugarPlease · 15/01/2011 16:01

Er as far as I can see, your OP was aimed at the OP on the other thread

And fwiw, YABVU and completely fucking ridiculous

MilkNoSugarPlease · 15/01/2011 16:02

Go on then Chippy, you do the mentioning NM honours :o

belgo · 15/01/2011 16:03

I think we have made our point - scuzy has admitted it was an error of judgement.

scuzy · 15/01/2011 16:03

so how do i delete this thread? serious question

OP posts:
amelem · 15/01/2011 16:03

Bup I am starting to feel really sorry for you sounds like you are having a crap stressful day, hope your DS is better soon. Nowt wrong with a few glasses of wine to relax.

OP should have read my other thread "AIBU to mainline crack through my toenails when DS is playing on the floor?"
