Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Yes BOTH ankles and still recovering 2 years down the line, think it's a bit of an understatement to say I have had a rotten couple of years! Grin I slipped in the garden on wet grass, the grass was long and couldn't see where the grass was uneven and went over and dislocated and broke my right ankle in 3 or 4 places ( can't remember without getting xray out) and the other one tore muscles and ligament and harline fractures. Oddly the bones healed well after surgery, it's the tissue damage that takes so darn long.

Mmmmmmmmm baked blueberry muffins YUM!!! Grin

I've had an odd day, not unpleasant and I won't bore you with details but I'll be glad to cosy up in front of the telly once ds is in bed. Hope everyone else here is ok?........

elmofan · 17/01/2011 17:04

Shock valium that sounds dreadful very painful Sad you poor thing . I hope your day gets better x

gomummy -38 Shock

I had to pick ds up from school early today as
he had another migraine . We are all due to get the swine flu jab on Wednesday morning so going to mention the headaches to GP then .

valiumredhead · 17/01/2011 17:32

Oooooo migraines are so awful elmo that's horrid, poor ds.

Tiredmumno1 · 17/01/2011 18:28

Aww valium Sad

elmo poor ds, hope he is ok now.

gomummy in answer to your earlier questions, i see the consultant again early next month, i shall try twisting his arm to find out the sex Grin, and two names that we are thinking about is alicia grace, and adam james, still thinking though as its not final Smile

valiumredhead · 17/01/2011 18:35

My best friend when I was 6 was called Alicia - I LOVE that name Grin

Teaandcakeplease · 17/01/2011 19:05

Those are all lovely names Tiredmum.

Eek at the broken Ankles and tissue damage.

Tiredmum your names are absolutely lovely. Give the consultant's arm an extra little turn for me, ok? ;)

Valium that sounds brutal. :(

Poor DS, Elmo. I suffer terribly from migraines and have my whole life. I can tell you that he is v. lucky to have you. They weren't diagnosed as migraine by a neurologist until I was about 10, so for my first few years of school my parents decided that I just didn't like school and was "faking" (even though I'd vomit from them, etc....sorry, tmi), so wouldn't pick me up and bring me home. It was absolutely horrible. A supportive parent would have made a huge difference.

Yep, it's not so warm here right now. When I feel cold I just call my relatives up north and then I feel all toasty in comparison, lol! Just did that! Grin

elmofan · 18/01/2011 15:48

Love those names Tiredmum Smile

I suffer from migraines too gomummy so i suppose i know the signs of one coming on in ds , he goes very pale , with dark circles under his eyes & is often sick with them . My GP has put them down to stress - related to the bullying he has gone through Sad he had an MRI scan to rule out any abnormalities . The problem with children suffering from migraines is that the doctors are very reluctant to give medication to children under 12yrs . ATM ds is getting at least 1 bad headache a week & it can last between 1-3 days depending on the severity of the migraine .
(he has managed to fool his teacher once before to get off early but he knows he can't fool me lol ) Grin

CheerfulYank · 18/01/2011 16:06

Poor DS, Elmo. Migraines are terrible; I get them too. If I keep on the gluten-free diet (I have celiac disease) they stay away for the most part, but I have to be very careful to get enough sleep, not have artificial aweeteners, etc.

Holy cow Valium, poor you! A broken ankle hurts like anything from what I've heard, let alone two!

Tiredmum I love those names! I can't wait! Tell the consultant that I'm mulling a visit to the UK to slap hell out of Elmo's DS' bully and I can stop by and give him one if he doesn't tell you the gender. (It's hilarious to even type that because I'm the least violent person ever :o)

Hahah gomummy, it finally made it above zero this morning (I think it was about 3 degrees F) and I was thinking, woo-hoo, spring is on its way! :)

gomummygo · 18/01/2011 18:38

Envy Cheerful - above 0?! Envy Envy Won't see that until April at least I'll bet. Never know though, this whole climate change situation has been doing strange things the last few years. Blush

Poor DS Elmo. Ikwym on the meds, I had nothing useful until I was 11yo. Totally believe it could be the stress he has been coping with. :( Really feel for him, wish I could help.

Oooh Oooh Cheerful if you take me with you I'd be happy to do the necessary slapping? Grin

elmofan · 18/01/2011 20:24
Grin

Ooh im looking forward to spring , it was -2 here this morning [Brrrrrr]

gomummygo · 18/01/2011 22:09

Envy @ -2 Elmo! That IS spring. Grin

Teaandcakeplease · 19/01/2011 22:32

Ooo too chilly for me. The power of mumsnet, one desperate thread begun by Riven this morning and now she'll be headline news tomorrow: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1129157-have-asked-ss-to-take-dd-into-care/AllOnOnePage#site-wide_281 Amazing. Hope she gets the help she needs now.

valiumredhead · 20/01/2011 11:27

Morning everyone! :)

Woke up and saw lots about Riven on the news - hope it's not too overwhelming for her and she gets some help asap! Every time I see 'Slippy Dave' , as he's known in this house, I want to sock him one! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I have ds off school as he's poorly AGAIN!!!! He has had SO many bugs recently.

elmofan · 20/01/2011 11:47

poor Riven Sad thanks for the link tea , i was sick yesterday so missed all the threads about her troubles , really hope she gets all the help she needs . Her DD is soooo cute .

Hope your ds feels better soon Valium how old is he ? when dd (now 5) started school she was sick every week too .

Oh Gomummy i really hope you get great summers to make up for the bad winters .

valiumredhead · 20/01/2011 12:13

Elmo ds is 9 and has just started a new school with 600 kids - so lots of new germs!! He hadn't had any bugs since year 1 before starting year 5.

Hope you are feeling better today?

Your username reminds me of when ds was about 3 and we went out for a big family meal, lots of older cousins there and while we were waiting for our food to arrive we started to play 'I Spy.' The letter was L and ds piped up "I know!!!! it's ELMO!" Grin

elmofan · 20/01/2011 12:55

LOL Valium Grin @ L for ELMO

Elmo was a big hit in my household too when the dc's were little .

Aw hopefully he will build up some resistance soon , Kids just LOVE to share their germs Grin

Have to go back to my GP later - i'm such a wimp as i hate going to the doctors but as my blood pressure was very high yesterday he wants to re-check it today .

valiumredhead · 20/01/2011 13:42

elmo I have to do mine at home as it's ALWAYS high when I go anywhere near a surgerey or hospital. Hope it's lower today for you.

valiumredhead · 20/01/2011 13:43

I hate not having an edit facility for my typos! Grin

elmofan · 20/01/2011 14:12

Thanks Valium Smile
I've an appointment for 4pm so fingers crossed it lower today .

CheerfulYank · 20/01/2011 16:02

Ugh, speaking of bugs I've got the worst cold. It all seems to have settled in my throat and ears and I feel horrible. I'm at work but took an overdose on cold meds and, tbh, feel slightly stoned. Confused

Poor Riven! I wish I could help in some way, I know lots about CP and could help her out, I'm insanely frustrated that she's so far away. I just want to pop over and tell her to go away for the weekend and I'll take care of everything. :(

Tiredmumno1 · 20/01/2011 16:28

Lol cheerful n gomummy i shall warn the consultant you are on the way Grin

sorry i havent been about to much, we pulled the boys out of their school yesterday, but lucky enough sorted out a new school which they started today, so that was a bit crazy and bloomin quick, thank goodness Smile

RooBear · 20/01/2011 17:14

hi, can I return? I went away to have a baby but things appear to be settling down now! I'll bring jelly babies and fruit gums...

Sending my love to Riven as well x

gomummygo · 20/01/2011 18:04

Ikwym about wishing to be able to help Riven too Cheerful. I have a friend with a similar situation (DC needs 24/7 care, no real sleep, v. little respite), it is really, really hard for their family. It's not just about funding/being able to afford assistance either, as the properly trained assistance is so hard to find even if you have the funds. :(

Wow Tiredmum, hope everything is ok with your boys? Pulled them out of their school? Hope you are all alright.

Welcome back RooBear...went away to have a baby?

Feel as though I've missed a lot!

:)
