Do you take people at face value on here?

You know some posters tend to enter a thread with "Well I'm a Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Head Teacher" or whatever...well do you give their post any more creedence because of it or do you just disregard it completely and read what they have to say as if they'd never mentioned it?

Bearing in mind any of us can be anything we claim to be?

It reads like a bloody hollywood movie but if i'm being honest I totally believe the story..I'd be gutted to find out it was a lie because I actually cried real tears!

thats sad bump. that someone would try to suck people in like that.

i tend to belive most people but think im a good judge of character even on the internet, but you never can tell.

I look for consistancy in people but your story kind of disproves that.

I think the internet is just a reflection of RL. The vast majority of people are nice, normal, pretty much honest. A few are utter fuckers, a few are fantasists, are few are wired to the moon. But mainly, just fine, with maybe a few barriers removed due to anonymity and such.

The only reason I mention my profession is because I'm trying to explain why I know what I do about a particular topic.
Whatever I post it's always (i) backed up with references (ii) links to the relevant offical websites/sources (iii) proviso to see their GP/go back/contact relevant person.

I started posting about the subject area (relevant to me) because there were threads going on with information that wasn't up to date and at the least, hoped to make available and increase awareness of the official sources of information.
