to want to bellow "When will you all LEARN???" <sensitive - about the headline story>

Again - a warning; this is about the headlines about Birmingham. DO NOT read if you don't want to.

I just want to yell at someone "WHEN will you LEARN?"

There are enough serious case reviews now that all have common themes of possible reasons and ways to avoid such events occuring.... but still it happens and still it comes to the headlines.

WHY? it is SO wrong and SO unfair

Please don't beat me for my ignorance, but I am in Ireland and have missed what these headlines are about?

MmeLindt · 06/01/2011 22:08

Um. I am totally lost.

meltedmarsbars · 06/01/2011 22:08

Nursery worker arrested suspected abuse I think

NimpyWindowmash · 06/01/2011 22:09

serious sexual assault on small child in a nursery

MsHighwater · 06/01/2011 22:09

Nope, sorry. No idea what you are trying to say. Please explain (yes, I realise you mean the nursery nurse case but what have we all to learn?)

OneLieIn · 06/01/2011 22:09

Thanks mars bars, was thinking it was about the lack of rubbish collection in Birmingham...:-)

Alambil · 06/01/2011 22:10

Birmingham nursery worker "arrested for two counts of rape against a child aged 2 or 3 years old"

femalevictormeldrew · 06/01/2011 22:10

How very sad Sad

gordyslovesheep · 06/01/2011 22:10

another one at a loss as to who has to learn what?

NimpyWindowmash · 06/01/2011 22:10

sorry. alleged serious sexual assault.

AnnOnimous · 06/01/2011 22:10

If it is the nursery case, what do we need to learn?

He must have been CRB checked to work in a nursery, unless we assume that everyone is a paedophile and everyone is double or triple supervised to watch their every move, what lesson can we learn.

We can, as a society, hate that this has happened, and keep up CRB checks etc, but I am not sure what point the OP is making, other than natural horror at the situation.

FabbyChic · 06/01/2011 22:11

The headline I saw on Sky News was enough to make me want to kill the man.

I can't understand why they would employ a 20 year old without CRB checks and leave him unsupervised.

I doubt he live for long inside if he goes away that is, he better for his own safety.

story here

QueenGigantaurofMnet · 06/01/2011 22:12

sorry, i too am Confused

what is it "we" should be learning?

was this guy already on the register or something?

GypsyMoth · 06/01/2011 22:12

why do WE need to learn anything???

gordyslovesheep · 06/01/2011 22:12

oh for the love of - sigh - you want to 'kill them man' without you know looking at the evidence or s trial or anything - there are not enough eye rolls - sorry

GypsyMoth · 06/01/2011 22:12

god i hate threads like this that start off bossy!

Alambil · 06/01/2011 22:13

well, we (as in workers in such places and the management) have to learn that child protection is TOP priority; ofsted said risk assessments have not been completed wrt safety of children. Why? why was that not a red flag?

I bet, if there is another Serious Case Review, it'll say things about communication between workers and management, between agencies (ofsted, council, nursery etc), notification of policies, implementation of policies and training regarding child protection and whistleblowing; they all have so far (well, the 6 I've read for work, anyway)....

OP posts:
geezmyfeetarecold · 06/01/2011 22:13

Learn what?

lal123 · 06/01/2011 22:14

Is there any evidence that he wasn't CRB checked? Did he have previous convictions or was he on the sex offences register? The Sky story doesn't mention it? It does say that there's no evidence that any of the children in the nursery were abused...

gordyslovesheep · 06/01/2011 22:14

what is to be learned - are 20 year old more dangerous than 21 year olds?

and how do you know he wasn;t CRB checked ?

I am confused

geezmyfeetarecold · 06/01/2011 22:14

sorry, late post

PatPending · 06/01/2011 22:14

So had no CRB check been done?

Awful case Sad

illgetyoubutler · 06/01/2011 22:15
Sad Farking hell. My DD is nearly three. The thought of this happening to her.... How devestating for the victim(s) and their families.
porcamiseria · 06/01/2011 22:15

vile story, awful

but learn what? paedos are very good at slipping through the net, we cant stop em all

I bet he was CRB checked

LittleMissHissyFit · 06/01/2011 22:15

dare I even ask this, and I apologise if anyone is offended, but WTF is oral rape?
