to want to bellow "When will you all LEARN???" <sensitive - about the headline story>

Again - a warning; this is about the headlines about Birmingham. DO NOT read if you don't want to.

I just want to yell at someone "WHEN will you LEARN?"

There are enough serious case reviews now that all have common themes of possible reasons and ways to avoid such events occuring.... but still it happens and still it comes to the headlines.

WHY? it is SO wrong and SO unfair

imo the crb only shows that a person has not been in trouble with the law.
it is not completely failsafe

Alambil · 06/01/2011 22:17

I'm not talking about the man himself. I couldn't care less about him.

I'm talking about the lessons from all the serious case reviews (which talk about procedures and the way things are handled; they are NOT about blame or legalities). I read the Plymouth nursery serious case review last week at work. It talked about issues that should have meant the place being shut down, had procedures and processes happened correctly. I'm left wondering what similarities there'll be this time...

that's all.

Why are people assuming he was not crb checked. A crb check only shows if you've been caught doing something previously. This may be the first offence or he may not have been caught until now.

It's a haenous thing he's accused of. But what have "we" or "they" got to learn from it?

lal123 · 06/01/2011 22:17

But as far as they know he didn't abuse children in the nursery? There is nothing to suggest that the nursery staff/management did anything wrong???

NimpyWindowmash · 06/01/2011 22:17

LittleMisshissyFit, can you really, honestly, not have a guess?

geezmyfeetarecold · 06/01/2011 22:18

I have had so many crbs in my life. What do they tell you? Nothing about me or my personality or my lifetsyle. Just that I have a cleab record.

geezmyfeetarecold · 06/01/2011 22:18

clean..

MsHighwater · 06/01/2011 22:18

Might be a bit early, and the details a bit sketchy to be sure who needs to learn what from this case.

Just a thought...

FabbyChic · 06/01/2011 22:18

They have proof from his computer, he obviously took photographs how else would they have known he gave oral sex to the baby?

Please, of course he needs killing.

lal123 · 06/01/2011 22:19

baby? what baby? all I can see in news reports is that it involves a child under 13?

hairyfairylights · 06/01/2011 22:20

hissyfit forcing of something sexual into the
mouth.

hairyfairylights · 06/01/2011 22:20

Alambil · 06/01/2011 22:20

Who said he needs killing? have I even said he's guilty? we don't know yet... but there may well be a Serious Case Review regardless of criminal findings.

I'm just left wondering how many more of these reviews there will be before agencies pick up the common strands between them all (and there are a few, if not a lot) and change things... thus preventing such occurences (a bit; we can't irradicate it obviously)

lal123 · 06/01/2011 22:20

apologies - see it in Sky now.

QueenGigantaurofMnet · 06/01/2011 22:21

well if it is found that he was allowed to work unsupervised without the correct procedures around safeguarding and security checks having been made then those in management should IMO be charged with neglect of duty.

BUT unless he has already come to the attention of authorities even if those checks had been carried out there is little they would/could have done to prevent this incident.

Unfortunately it will always be that paedophiles seek to work with young and vulnerable children. it is the nature of the beast.

peppapighastakenovermylife · 06/01/2011 22:21

What are we all supposed to learn? I sincerely hope it is not 'do not put your chidren in nursery, they will grow up without love, neglected and abused' Hmm

As statistically children are far far more likely to be abused by someone they know.

Anyway I am jumping the gun, I await the OP's explanation.

hairyfairylights · 06/01/2011 22:22

lal the under 13 part refers to the law. The statement says aged two or three.

PatientGriselda · 06/01/2011 22:22

Which agencies are you talking about, lewisfan?

GypsyMoth · 06/01/2011 22:22

lewis.....you've only been in your new job 5 mins,do you really think you should be declaring things you've read there, here,on a public forum???

gordyslovesheep · 06/01/2011 22:22

oh now come on lets hang him now because we don't know the facts but I bet he's guilty - fetch my pitch fork

I read serious case reviews for work - actually anyone can read them they are now a matter of public record

until the SCR for this case (if he's found guilty) is done you can NOT say 'when will we learn' sorry :)

LittleMissHissyFit · 06/01/2011 22:23

I didn't know which way around, and brain really couldn't comprehend.

geezmyfeetarecold · 06/01/2011 22:23

I find it quite odd that this kind of thing could happen. I have used a few nurseries in my life and there never seems to be a room that is "empty" or private enough for this kind of thing to go on.

QueenGigantaurofMnet · 06/01/2011 22:24

Tiff - i think Lewis has read major case reviews, they are public.

i don't think she is posting about the cases she has acually worked with.

gordyslovesheep · 06/01/2011 22:25

Lewis you are new to your job - oh that explains an awful lot - trust me you will learn - sadly - lessons don;t get learned and agencies are overly precious about sharing info

but we can;t say that about this case because no one knows the FACTS yet :)

Sirzy · 06/01/2011 22:25

Very little is known by Joe bloggs about what happened so it is impossible to judge

What needs to be remembered is cases like this are so rare and in most nurseries children are perfectly safe
