to be curious to know how many of us are middle class mothers who wear Boden?

I always enjoy the wide cross section of opinions, attitudes and experiences on Mumsnet. But other media seems keen to present Mumsnet as white middle class Boden adorned mothers.

I know I'm not, but how many of us are? Grin

Sorry if this has been asked before, but couldn't find anything in the older threads.

Nope, not guilty m'lud.

Debenhams is about as posh as I get, Primani and Matalan labels are more familiar Grin

In my defence, good quality/well fitting lingerie makes most cheap crap clothing fit better.

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 01/01/2011 21:46

Yep that's me. Middle class. Mother. Loves my Boden I does.

Also do a mean line in Joules, Monsoon, Laura Ashley, Fat Face and any other Very Middle Class Mummy Clothes you can think of.

Mostly from lack of imagination, enthusiasm and time I would guess.

stoppinchingthedummy · 01/01/2011 21:46

ok i might sound stupid- i promise im not im just sleep deprived but can someone clarify "middle class" please - i certainly dont wear boden ...

onepieceoflollipop · 01/01/2011 21:47

Middle class - probably
White - yes
Mother - yes (of two)
Boden - I have one denim skirt (lovely) and one ruffle t-shirt (not so lovely)

However I tend to buy one or two items from loads of different places. Recent shops include Fat Face, White Stuff, Asda, Debenhams, M&S (no particular order).

onepieceoflollipop · 01/01/2011 21:48

SSB we seem to have a lot in common Grin

last thing I bought in Laura Ashley was too tight though, do the clothes come up smaller than other shops?

1234ThumbScrew · 01/01/2011 21:50

Stopping the dummy - what do you sit on? A settee, couch, sofa

Megletitsnow · 01/01/2011 21:50

Lower middle class. White. Hampshire.

No boden, its a bit grown up for me. Although DD does have a mini-boden cashmere cardie hand-me-down that is very much loved.

Usually dotty P's, primark and random finds fron TK Maxx for me.

Honeydragon · 01/01/2011 21:51

I'm not sure what middle class is either stoppinchingthedummy I thought I might have been, but have been assured I don't have enough money or the right kind of job Grin

effymeffy · 01/01/2011 21:51

For me? Goodness no i am only 25 Grin. However DD (6) always has a Boden coat and a few bits from there.

Hassled · 01/01/2011 21:52

Very middle class here and I own two Boden items, one of which I don't wear. So yes, I'm the stereotype. My only defence is the lack of anything Cath Kidston in the house.

notnowbernard · 01/01/2011 21:53

Middle class - no

Mother - yes

Boden - no

snowflake69 · 01/01/2011 21:53

I have never even heard of Boden. Where do they sell it?

I don't have any Cath Kidston

However I do have some Emma Bridgewater (sorry) Grin

arabicabean · 01/01/2011 21:57

I expect most people would say upper middle class about me. Definitely no Boden, but some labels I wear:

MaxMara
Bottega Veneta
Peal
Crumpet
Missoni
High St - Hobbs, Jaeger

GrizzlyMacDuff · 01/01/2011 21:58

Oh this is the thread of camps isn't it?

What quiche do i fit into. What is currently popular? I will have that one, thanks.

verytellytubby · 01/01/2011 21:59

Middle-class but don't wear Boden.

Garcia10 · 01/01/2011 21:59

This is the first time I have heard of Boden (I'm obviously not middle class!). Just looked on the webiste and it seems about the same price and quality as Per Una.

And what is wrong with Cath Kidston? There are some baffling POVs on this forum - well to me anyway.

BaronessBomburst · 01/01/2011 21:59

Middle class - yes
But wouldn't know what Boden was if it jumped up and bit me on the arse. My clothes come from anywhere as long as it's cheap but doesn't look it. Grin

1234ThumbScrew · 01/01/2011 21:59

Quiche?

Chaotica · 01/01/2011 22:00

Guilty of being middle class and a mother here. But not on the charges of being a white Boden-wearer.

I did once buy dd a boden jacket off the market though. Didn't notice it was boden until some months later.

tholeon · 01/01/2011 22:00

now how are we all defining class here? That's a more interesting question...

GrizzlyMacDuff · 01/01/2011 22:00

yes. quiche. If you really are in a quiche, you know it Wink

BaronessBomburst · 01/01/2011 22:00

Cath Kidson has flowers on it. Nuff said.
