to be curious to know how many of us are middle class mothers who wear Boden?

I always enjoy the wide cross section of opinions, attitudes and experiences on Mumsnet. But other media seems keen to present Mumsnet as white middle class Boden adorned mothers.

I know I'm not, but how many of us are? Grin

Sorry if this has been asked before, but couldn't find anything in the older threads.

I am. And I'm not ashamed to admit it. Grin

WoodRose · 04/01/2011 23:23

I am a white, middle class, middle aged woman who doesn't wear Boden because I think the quality is dreadful. I do, however, occasionally buy a few pieces for my children who love the bright colours and graphics.

porcamiseria · 05/01/2011 09:21

another boden thread!!!!

too expensive by far

NorwegianMoon · 05/01/2011 11:50

boden is cliche and so obvious. its made just the same as other clothes only they charge more. i would never wear boden but then i dress like an indian princess most days and walk around barefoot!

sungirltan · 05/01/2011 11:53

white middle class, check.

mother, check

got lots of wanky things in my wardrobe/house

don't have any boden. tbh i might have if they had shops. i quite like some of the stuff in the catalogue and may buy some bits for dd BUT i like to to things on in the shop. thats all

notrightnow · 05/01/2011 12:02

white middle class mother ... yup
Boden wearer ... yes, because their trousers fit and the necklines aren't too low

I'm also uptight, strict, prudish and judgemental Wink

middle class - christ knows. I earn a little below the average London wage, but my job has 'exec' in the title, and pays about what my dad earned at the end of his working life. My dad was an architect, but we never ate out and only went 'abroad' once. I do not own a house and have no relatives who could act as guarantors, but I live in a posh bit of my suburb. If I go to where I grew up, I'm 'posh'. If I meet proper middle-class people down here, I'm 'northern'. I eat houmous and listen to Radio 4, if it helps.

Boden - I have a couple of skirts from there. I like skirts. They were not expensive.

Mother - no, I came here for S&B and was sufficiently amused to stick around.

Aims80 · 05/01/2011 15:50

I am middle class but I'd never heard of Boden until I read this thread (just googled them!)

White - yes
Mother - no
Middle Class - no freaking clue. I'm foreign, so I reckon that would stick me in the "classless" category
Wears Boden - never

geezmyfeetarecold · 05/01/2011 15:57

I am too middle class to wear boden as the sizes are too small. Poor skinny women...sigh

OTheHugeManatee · 05/01/2011 15:57

Who's the MN-er with the spreadsheet?

Surely this thread is a goldmine.

Never seen any item of clothing from Boden, heard 'of' it on here. Is it an expensive brand?

gordyslovesheep · 05/01/2011 15:59

Middle Class - guilty

Middle aged - no I am only 40 - I intend to live until I am 120

Mother - yes

Wears Boden - no - my kids have one or two bit from the sale bit it's not me!

geezmyfeetarecold · 05/01/2011 15:59

my receptionist wears it

jaffacakeaddict · 05/01/2011 16:04

I'm middle class and do wear it. I don't feel ashamed. Most of the clothes that I have bought have been pretty good quality and wash well. I don't feel middle aged. Is 35 middle aged? I can be an opinionated cow but do try to keep it in check!

LittleMumSmall · 05/01/2011 16:06

Yep, I tick all the boxes :)

geezmyfeetarecold · 05/01/2011 16:08

actually I just checked and didnt think they did past size 12 so am surprised.
It isnt very funky though

EdgarAleNPie · 05/01/2011 17:03

i have one boden via ebay skirt.
i am a mother.
i refuse to be defined by class

judge away :)

i would.

Honeydragon · 05/01/2011 17:07

Right.... this isn't helping on top of my last summary

daily mail....still wrong about mumsnet stereotype

the average mumsnetter likes Boden cut and sizing but would willingly shop elsewhere

JakeBrake - sorry if you read them allGrin....I wanted to try and quash the stereotype of typical mumsnetter, I think I've done that. In the interests of fairness perhaps I should nip to the other site and ask the same question. Then I can point the daily Mail, The Wright Stuff and other associated media to bog off there instead Wink

Honeydragon · 05/01/2011 17:11
