as a christmas present .... Not my main Xmas pressie - part of my stocking ...
Am IBU to feel that he sees me as sexless and pretty unattractive ? I'm only 38 FGS!
I have recently had a baby so am very self conscious about my body and whether he sees me as woman or mummy .. But still ...

A SLANKET ????? Sad

You are not alone, OP. I was also a less than enthusiastic recipient of a slanket from DH. Not impressed, as I had told him that I hated them. He kept pestering me to say what I wanted for Xmas, and I told him, so he went and bought me something completely different that he knew I wouldn't like. Confused Wouldn't mind, but it wa sthe only thing he bought me, too.

The US census classes folk from 35 as middle aged, so yes, you are middle aged, or two years from it in the uk so perhaps it's an investment for you to grow old and snuggly together.

Are you feeling a bit sensitive about your advancing years?

Always fun watching my friend get a bit pissed in hers and have to disentangle herself to go to the toilet!

threefeethighandrising · 02/01/2011 03:01

What's a slanket?! Confused

I seem to have entered a parallel universe where slankets are commonly known about. I've never heard of them!

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 02/01/2011 08:15

I got one for xmas from DH after dropping many hints. Love it Grin

If you want to get rid of the static, wash it and add plenty of fabric conditioner. I'm spark free now! (Thank you kind MNer for that tip)

Fibilou · 02/01/2011 08:19

What is a slanket ?

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 02/01/2011 08:38

A blanket with sleeves.

TheVeryLazyLadybird · 02/01/2011 09:23

My slanket doesn't create static... thats my favourite thing about it!
On Christmas day evening I snuggled up on the sofa under my slanket and my sister curled up, not daring to move, under a cheap static filled blanket that made her hair stand on end! Grin

I wasn't sharing.

BendyBobCratchit · 02/01/2011 11:11

I can't say I'd be delighted if it were me, but they seem to be rather the in thing this winter so maybe it was bought because of that?

I think they're pretty awful really. They look like the sort of thing dished out by the Red Cross after a disaster has occurred.

ZeroMistletoeZeroTinsel · 02/01/2011 11:15

This is ridiculous, the first time I ever encountered a slanket was when a 25 year old friend showed me theirs. I don't think of it as an old person thing at all, I think you are being very unreasonable.

Greenkit · 02/01/2011 11:49

How can you be so ungrateful woman!

He got you a warm snugly blankly and other presents.

What did you get him??

WilfShelf · 02/01/2011 11:58

It's not an age thing.. It's a taste thing...

panettoinydog · 02/01/2011 12:02

exactly wilf

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 02/01/2011 12:04

Wilf, I don't wear my slanket out on the town so who cares what it looks like? Function over form.

clutha · 02/01/2011 12:24

its not a referance to being middle aged at all

they make and market them heavily for kids, as well
my nephew and my sister both got one for xmas, they love them

flaime · 02/01/2011 12:55

My DH would never buy me one of those, but only because they don't sell them in the supermarket he uses to buy my pressies every christmas / birthday eve Sad

clutha · 02/01/2011 14:34

LOL

they did in ASDA when i did my xmas shopping Grin

lurkermalurker · 02/01/2011 16:20

YABU, get a grip, your husband bought you something to keep you snuggled in at night...and it was part of a stocking, so his spoiling didn't exactly stop at a slanket did it! If he'd bought you suck it all in knickers or an ironing board then you have a right to moan.

I never wanted a Slanket but now I'm thinking it would be an improvement on two hub-caps and a colander..

panettoinydog · 03/01/2011 10:12

I'd much rather get suck-it-in knickers than a slanket.

ScienceDad · 03/01/2011 10:49

YABVU. Slanketts are awesome. :D
