So my dh bought me a slanket.....

as a christmas present .... Not my main Xmas pressie - part of my stocking ...
Am IBU to feel that he sees me as sexless and pretty unattractive ? I'm only 38 FGS!
I have recently had a baby so am very self conscious about my body and whether he sees me as woman or mummy .. But still ...

A SLANKET ????? Sad

My mother once felt offended that a family friend bought her a fleece night dress and a microwave hot pillow for Christmas. She was REALLY offended by it. Does she think I'm an old woman, etc?! I didn't hear the end of it. She took it back and got gift vouchers.

Weirdly my mother wears the most impractical night dresses, with so sleeves, only thin straps and is constantly moaning about how cold she is in winter.

Perhaps he thoguht it would be comfortable for you to curl up with on the sofa?

Completely off topic, do you midn me asking how old you were when you had your baby? I think I'm going from TTC to being single again, on the verge of a break up and I'm running out of hope.

YABU a slanket is the best thing ever. DH got me one for our anniversary. Its fantastic! Esp for MNing and keeping warm at the same time.

I'd love a slanket! I went on and on for months and still no fecker listened.

My Mum did buy me a shopping trolley though. It's stripey.

I've even started eyeing up a onesie.

Ooooh showofhands my trolleys stripy too.
Yup he got the fridge at the sale price, it is 2m high, a absolute monster. I am 5.2" and cannot reach the top shelf Grin tis a bloody posh fridge freezer though compared to what we had. Mind you burying our food in the snow would have been posher food storage than the old fridge!

My slanket was my main present. And I love it very much! 'Tis what I wanted.

And now he'll feel guilty all year too cos I bought him a £450 digital camera.

So I rather hope I'll get an even bigger present next year!!!

I got one too and am delighted. I'm 38 with 2 DC and I KNOW my DH still sees me as sexy but I am constantly moaning about the cold and dragging DD2's blankets down to the sofa. I love my slanket.

Think about it, how many OHs not only encourage their partners to slob on the sofa for a few weeks after birth, but provide the equipment to do so in extra comfort? Surely so much better than one of those horribly brusque types who think you should be back to pre-baby shape and lustfulness as well as running a spotless household with the other hand, after a few days' recovery? I would value the implied "licence to slob" higher than the item itself. (But to be fair, I am a slob!)

I work in Boots & have sold loads of these over the Christmas period,& the funniest sale was a young couple looking for a gift for his Nana,

him - 'Look at this,she would be well buzzing if we got her this'

her - 'do you reckon'?

him - 'yeah she would well love it,i'm getting it'

It just made me chuckle to think of Nana buzzing.

I got a slanket for Christmas last year & am wearing it this very minute Smile.

Washing the slanket takes out all the static by the way....

IMO he bought you two really thoughtful presents - handbag was obviously just what you want and is the person you are going to go back to (promise!!! it will happen, but right now you are in the post partum depths) and the slanket thing was really kind because it is about what he thought you might need, not about what he expects of you. I know that there has been a lot of chat in general about what slankets really mean, but he is a MAN and will not have understood the finer social nuances, just thought that he wants to literally make you feel wrapped up and snuggly. So really, he thinks you are a yummy Mummy!

DH & I had a "double Slanket" bought for us by a close friend. Our house has no heating and so she thought we would like it. She also bought us a beautiful wine rack, so I think she was actually suggesting we should get pissed on the sofa whilst keeping warm!

My stepchildren were joking all year long that they'd get DH a slanket... Am so relieved that they didn't! Somebody got their mum (DH's exW) one though and it is still the source of hilarity...

They make people look like they're in a cult.

Much prefer our snuggly dressing gowns.

Anyway... YANBU to be miffed but men just see practicality rather than implications of age etc, I'm sure he just wanted you to be comfy.
