Her dh can cook and her babies are sooooo cute. Plus she's probably rich.

OP posts:

well said chip - and they were together before he was famous

poor Jules is getting stick for no reason

she is perfectly lovely!

FrustratedHippy · 20/12/2010 22:42

bunting agree to differ

lucky1979 · 20/12/2010 22:48

Thing that annoys me about her (and him but she's been more vocal about it) is the whining about press intrusion in one breath, then lining up, kids and all, for photoshoots and tv programmes as soon as they have something else to flog.

Although to be fair they've done that less recently.

Edmundo · 20/12/2010 22:48

Poor Jools :( I do hope she doesn't read this.

She has four gorgeous children, is gorgeous herself, has an amazing house and a devoted husband. I'm not jealous but she does seem to have it all!

Good on her.

figcake · 20/12/2010 22:48

Tatty - you come across as a very loyal friend.Smile

I doubt that any "jealousy" would be related to her having displayed any kind of intellectual superiority. It is more likely to be motivated by the fact that she comes across as being quite ordinary on every count (and in a nice way), yet has access to a privileged lifestyle (and even then on her OWN terms; as she seems to have her head screwed on tightly enough to call the shots. This was obvious from her very first televised appearances as Jamie's other-half, well before they married and had children).

I hate the tabloid phrase 'girl-next-door' but it does seem to apply to her as much as that other childhood sweetheart, Mrs Rooney.

bupcakesandcunting · 20/12/2010 22:51

Actually I remember now why she winds me up so. During one of Jamie's programmes, think it was Jamie's School Dinners, it emerged that a red top were running a story about him having an alleged affair. Jools chucked a right mardy and rightly so. I was with her right up until she whined "they're trying to ruin my perfect family!" and belted off up the stairs. Don't know why but it made me tut and roll my eyes a bit.

TheCrackFox · 20/12/2010 22:52

I'd hate to be famous - the things that Slebs must read about themselves on the internet must be upsetting.

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 22:53

Mrs Rooney! I find it hard to have any respect for her when her husband treats her like shit but she stays anyway - she wouldn't get the littlewoods contract otherwise eh?!

bupcakesandcunting · 20/12/2010 22:56

I reckon Colleen would have more success if she ditched Shrek. She'd get a career as the British Oprah or something.

blueshoes · 20/12/2010 22:57

I was not aware JO had brain cells of the sort worth admiring. The few excerpts of her book I read were enough for me to think her intellectual prowess of a rather unoriginal underwhelming kind. Perhaps I should have read the whole book ...

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 23:00

He is such a dick (shrek I mean)
Zero respect for his wife and child and she is not respepcting herself by staying with him

Ughhhhh

figcake · 20/12/2010 23:01

I guess that the point I was trying to make about Colleen and Jules is that the fact that they were snogging their (then unknown) OHs behind the bike-shed during their teenage years before celebrity came knocking at their respective doors, means that they don't have to be beautiful, clever or successful in their own right, in order to justify why they are still worthy of their OHs 10 years later. They are granted a kind of immunity from the usual sleb criteria which is richly deserved as neither is foul-mouthed or trashy or has screwed-up at any point.

blueshoes · 20/12/2010 23:04

Is it, figcake? I never heard of such amnesty.

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/12/2010 23:06

I think people may dislike her because of her reputation of being a helicopter parent, and will not let her children eat party food at parties, taking along a little tupperware box of carrot stick etc.

I don't have a strong opinion on the woman either way tbh. But the fact she calls herself 'Jools' pisses me off in itself.

Jools. I ask you.

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 23:07

Yes but ms Rooney has sold out to the fame and money by choosing to stay with that disgusting toad

Poor her

And the poor prozzies who had to shag him, they deserve all the money they could get for that!

Ughhhhh!

madonnawhore · 20/12/2010 23:07

You lot are so mean!

I've always liked Jools.

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/12/2010 23:07

I agree bupcakes re Colleen.

She should dump him, she would be the next young working class mother icon.

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 23:09

I don't care for jools myself but it is her name and she can do with it as she wants!

If she wants to be a helicopter parent that's ok too but surely we should take these stories with a pinch of salt? I've seen his kids eat sweet stuff on telly so they don't ban it for them!

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/12/2010 23:10

Ah yes thatr helicopter thing may be a load of crap.

I think I read that story on mumsnet anyway Wink

bupcakesandcunting · 20/12/2010 23:10

Coleen is a thicko for not kicking Shrek out on his sorry arse. He is so not worthy of her, she is about fifty leagues above his league.

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 23:11

More than that - a gazillion leagues

But now she has lost respecttttttt because she sold herself out

expatinscotland · 20/12/2010 23:12

Can't see him having an affair.

At any rate, it's no one's business.

Haven't bothered to read the whole thread.

Meh.

I'm sure her life has ups and downs like anyone's.

bupcakesandcunting · 20/12/2010 23:17

I was gunning for her to leave him after the last hooker debacle, I was reading Closer going "you GO girlfriend!", doing the Ricki Lake rotating fist on air thing. Was sure she was going to do it. She ain't staying for the dough so she must love old Shrek features. Confused

darleneconnor · 20/12/2010 23:19

She seems quite sweet to me. Not the smartest cookie in the tin but that's hardly a crime is it?

I read her book when I was pregnant with DC2, it wasn't exactly ground-breaking but what else do you expect from a 'sleb's (probably ghost written) musings.

I dont think she has it that easy. She had PCOS and had to take clomid to get pg with Poppy. Then got pg again almost immediately- that must have been exhausting!

From what I've read she is a single Mum 5/6 days a week and I dont think she has a nanny, like most rich Mums of 4 do, I expect.

What's so bad about her DH? People tell me my DP is quite like him Confused

There really is no need to be so bitchy about her, I bet she is a MNer.

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 23:19

I like closer too but I like new more for the Peter andre and Natalie Cassidy columns ;-)
