...to think my cat is gifted and talented?

Most of the time he just lies in front of the fire, licks his arse and dribbles, but when he wants to to wake up in the morning and feed him, he will repeatedly tap my arm with his paw. And if I doze off he will tap me even harder.

Anyone else got a feline genius?

mine knows exactly what time i've set my alarm clock. she then proceeds to wail excruciatingly loudly 10 minutes before i am supposed to get up.

MaureenMLove · 19/12/2010 16:48

God yes! Sign him up!

My feline lovely was the same. He used to try and wake me and if he couldn't he'd put his paw in my mouth!

He was also not bloody stupid. If it was raining and he needed to wee, I used to have to take him outside under an umbrellam, as he wouldn't go otherwise!

Longtinsellyjosie · 19/12/2010 16:48

Like this?

Truckulent · 19/12/2010 16:53

One of mine freaked me out:

All DC were in bed asleep, I was in bed watching a horror film, I didn't even hear him come in the room, never mind on the bed, and he tapped me on the shoulder. I don't know who scared who the most.

msrisotto · 19/12/2010 16:55

My cat jumps up and meows in my face, thanks darling! I don't think she's G+T though, she falls off things too much, especially for a cat.

LaWeaselMys · 19/12/2010 16:56

DPs old cat (who stayed with his parents when he left home) lies on your chest puts his paws down flat and slowly digs his claws in until you get up.

Our current cat just sits on us and stares balefully at DP. Or me. Whoever looks more awake.

LaWeaselMys · 19/12/2010 16:59

He can open closed doors too, even ones with knobs instead of handles.

Freaks me out everytime!

IvantaOuiOui · 19/12/2010 16:59

I think he should be spending time with other gifted cats and achieving his full potential. Unfortunately our other cat is as thick as mince, but very loving. I like the sound of the cat who needed an umbrella to wee under.

My cat used to jump up on the bed in the morning and nudge me in the head till I got up and fed her!

onceamai · 19/12/2010 17:09

Yep all of that and lines up a dead mouse next to his food bowls so well as if to say and when I've finished the Hills Science Diet, I'll have you for pudding.

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 19/12/2010 17:12

My cat is very g + t
he as different voices that mean different things

'ingaw' means hello

'brrii brrrrri' means oh look something I want to kill

'eeeeeyaaaaawwww-uh' means fucking pay attention I'm staaaarving/need a shit.

Also he is completely orange.

msrisotto · 19/12/2010 17:14

Lady - I'm not sure who is more special, your cat....or you!Grin

Abcinthia · 19/12/2010 17:15

My cat knocks on my bedroom door if he wants to come in and the door is shut.

One of my old cats, I taught to open the door. I used to balance treats on the handle and she'd jump up and pull the handle down to get the treat. After a while I stopped putting the treats there but she kept opening the doors to get inside.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 19/12/2010 17:18

Well MY cat knows to vomit in his litter tray

Unfortunately tho he goes through phases of crapping next to the electricity box Xmas Hmm

Hassledge · 19/12/2010 17:19

My cat's ears pricked up when there was talk of cats on the TV last night. I thought that was pretty damned gifted.

The other cat, the one I don't like, can open the back door but that's not gifted, that's just precocious.

IvantaOuiOui · 19/12/2010 17:23

My cat vomits in his water bowl. Bleugh.

valleyqueen · 19/12/2010 17:24

My cat also talks outside my bedroom door exactly 10 mins before the alarm is due. She also goes for a poo in her tray the second I get into bed knowing full well I will get straight back up to clean it out.

BlitzenAndCupidsSleighDodger · 19/12/2010 17:27

My cat can talk, but I wouldn't say he was G&T.

ClaireDeLoon · 19/12/2010 17:30

My parents cat rings a bell when she wants to go out.

purplepidjbauble · 19/12/2010 17:34

My cat comes when he's called. I thought it was just for me calling in a certain way, but no - it even works for DP's 3yo nephew Xmas Shock

He enjoys playing fetch with his toy mice.

He loves going out on his harness and lead to be walked.

He is in the process of assessment by the Pets as Therapy charity so he can come to work with me (I work with adults with learning difficulties)

Pic of him being daft on my profile, will see if I can find the one of him at the last Harry Potter party at my local bookshop - he went as Crookshanks!

MissAnthropy · 19/12/2010 17:39

Our cat isn't g&t as much as he's bloody cunning.

He does knock on the bathroom window when you're in there, you go and let him in and then he climbs on the windowsill in the bathroom and knocks to go out. He then laughs.

He does the opening doors thing too. He can knock dd's door off the latch (warmest room in the house as the boiler's housed in her cupboard) and close it behind him.

shandyleer · 19/12/2010 17:39

Both of our cats knock on the back door to be let in and out (can't manage the bell though Grin)

TinselinaBumSquash · 19/12/2010 17:41

My Cat is sociable to a very high level, she gives the filthies of looks to people and if you look at her and talk she meows back in a 'don't fucking speak to me' kind of way.

purplepidjbauble · 19/12/2010 17:41

Done Xmas Smile
