Peed off with Amazon

bubaluba · 16/12/2010 21:39

I placed 2 orders with Amazon on 5th Dec that have still to turn up. The estimated delivery dates were 10th and 14th Dec (not sure why 4 days apart when I ordered them half an hour apart). I e-mailed them yesterday to say they hadn't turned up and got the standard e-mail saying wait until 20th/21st Dec. If they have not arrived by then they will either resend but state I won't receive until after Christmas or will give me a full refund. To add salt into the wound, I received an e-mail today reminding me about the last date for Christmas orders!

I am seriously annoyed as I think their response is crap. I don't understand why they can't offer free next day delivery in these instances.

Not sure if I have any rights to receive my order within the advertised time?

Oh I'm sure I can do fine without don't worry, just people saying to go to the High Street to buy it!

I agree with everybody who says 'it is not the end of the world.' I really do!

and it isin't - its just christmas presents. I also know that my DS4 will understand. However, none of that is the point here.

I am so broke that it has become funny...in a weird way. I was nominated for a MN Secret Santa. I cant tell you how much I cried when I got the email. It has made my year. I have received the most amazing gifts. When my Amazon voucher came I was amazed and beyond giddy. It meant that my DS4 would have a smashing Christmas.

Even if the second game doesn't come before Christmas it wont spoil my sons day. He is a clever boy and understands.

Its just oh I dont know I have run out of the appropriate words. Unfortunately I cant go and get a replacement.

Never mind...we have lived through much, much, much worse than not getting a Christmas gift we ordered.

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 22:45

they don't refund it juney

what happens is you email them to say it hasn't arrived (even though it says dispatched)

they don't give you an option, you then get an email back which says they have investigated the order, it's clear something has gone wrong, so they are sending you out another one which will be there in X days (that never arrived either but that's another story)

they ask you to confirm this - they send an email and ask you to respond to it - with this response, they can claim back from Royal Mail/courier, for non delivery of the item (as they obviously have some sort of insurance in place).

juneybean · 16/12/2010 22:46

Oh no I know they WILL refund it hehe, I just mean by the time it goes back into my account etc etc. but no matter it's not life or death.

backwardpossom · 16/12/2010 22:46

Well, that's a different issue altogether, hogfather - was the item in stock when you ordered it?

juney well, I know I would have money to fall back on, or a credit card if needs be, but obviously not everyone would have that option.

I knew there was an advantage to being an Aberdonian. It's true what they say about us being tight...

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 22:47

I mean you can get a refund, but it isn't offered in the first instance. The first thing they do is send another one.

I think if you want a refund, you have to specifically request that BEFORE they send another iyswim.

But even then, they need you to confirm certain details so they can get their money back.

juneybean · 16/12/2010 22:47

Well I don't want a refund !

I want my product haha, but I'm saying people on here have said to go to the high street and buy a replacement then send the other back but I'm sure many others on here cannot afford to pay out twice.

bubaluba · 16/12/2010 22:49

Brio trains and track pieces (less to trip over/put away)
Disney and CBeebies CDs (will have to listen to my music on trip up North on Boxing Day)

Maybe Amazon/Royal Mail/whoever is actually doing me a favour!

I was waiting for a flask - for me - as I have to stand on the sidelines in the freezing cold weather, watching ds play football, without a cafe in sight.

And my local argos had run out of the flask I wanted. So I ordered it on Amazon.

Anyway, I eventually gave up and got it from John Lewis and told Amazon not to bother (after 3 weeks, I think they had stopped bothering tbh).

Am also waiting for a book of first Carols for dd - it's for Grade 1 piano learners. She wanted to learn some carols for xmas and I was going to teach her :-(. I ordered that at the end of November :-(.

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 22:53

what book are you getting for yourself pointy?

hogfather · 16/12/2010 22:56

backwardpossum yes afraid so - I checked and there were lots in stock - unless there has been a rush on ordering gluten free cookery books and a beer receipe book Grin

panettoinydog · 16/12/2010 23:00

I am buying myself a book on knitting cushions, believe it or not

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 23:05

I didn't know you could knit cushions tbh

has probably sold out, like the flasks. Cold weather presents grrr. If we'd all been after swimming costumes and sun cream, we'd be laughing now.

mychildrenarebarmy · 16/12/2010 23:05

NB: I have plenty of time on my hands, I am waiting for an order being sent via city link.

City Link, the UK's leading premium express delivery (currently displaying none of these qualities) company, providing high quality (define high quality), flexible (how is closing your collection points flexible?) and innovative (do something bloody innovative then and hire extra staff, extra vans and deliver the bloody parcels) service solutions across the UK, Ireland and Worldwide (unless you live somewhere or are expecting a parcel from somewhere that has seen a flake of snow in the last month (or anywhere between the start and finish locations of said parcel)).
Established in 1969, and operating over 2,500 vehicles from a national network of corporately owned Depots focusing on exceeding our Customers? expectations at all times. (Just how low are your customers expectations?!)

Some other important facts about City Link:

? Annual turnover in excess of £350m (bloody spend some of it on clearing the backlog then)
?Market leading service provider of guaranteed Next Day & Timed delivery services (mental note, request delivery of a dictionary to the head of city link. ps don't send it via city link)
?Value Added Services include International, Ireland, Post, Print Logistics and Sameday
?Our Customer centric focus enables us to develop bespoke solutions to meet the needs of our Customers (unless it requires answering phones or emails)

Do you think I could sue for loss of rationality caused by city link?? Hmm

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 23:07

I have a feeling I will get back to work in Jan and find 6 flasks waiting for me

panettoinydog · 16/12/2010 23:10

tsk. There's nothing you can't knit.

mychildrenarebarmy · 16/12/2010 23:11

panettoinydog Shall we get started on some delivery vans and drivers? Wink

hogfather · 16/12/2010 23:13

my cousin is well into her knitting and I have got her a book called Knitivity for crimbo - knit your own nativity scene!!

Incidently brought from a bricks and mortar shop!!!

backwardpossom · 16/12/2010 23:17

There's nothing you can't knit

Too true

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 23:17

I still can't picture a knitted cushion. Does it look like a jumper but cushion shaped?

melikalikimaka · 16/12/2010 23:18

It's a bit hit and miss, an order of ink for my printer should of arrived yesterday, still waiting. But some toiletries came on 1st day of expected delivery. I'm ok about it really.

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 23:21

ah ok, have googled and seen one lol. How funny that I've never seen one in real life. Maybe we don't have many knitted cushions darn sarf.

I never pictured you as a woman of knitting prowess pointy. I shall see you in a different light.

This time last year a friend ordered my xmas present from amazon - it didn't arrive. So just after xmas he raised hell with amazon who promptly sent out another one which arrived in good time.

Fast forward to february and the original parcel arrived, 2 copies for the price of 1!!!!
