Peed off with Amazon

bubaluba · 16/12/2010 21:39

I placed 2 orders with Amazon on 5th Dec that have still to turn up. The estimated delivery dates were 10th and 14th Dec (not sure why 4 days apart when I ordered them half an hour apart). I e-mailed them yesterday to say they hadn't turned up and got the standard e-mail saying wait until 20th/21st Dec. If they have not arrived by then they will either resend but state I won't receive until after Christmas or will give me a full refund. To add salt into the wound, I received an e-mail today reminding me about the last date for Christmas orders!

I am seriously annoyed as I think their response is crap. I don't understand why they can't offer free next day delivery in these instances.

Not sure if I have any rights to receive my order within the advertised time?

I don't think it is unreasonable to think that orders ordered two weeks ago might be here by now TBH. These are goods we have paid for.

Other retailers are still getting things delivered. The same day I ordered the book from Amazon I also ordered an item from Sony. The Sony item arrived within 2 or 3 days. Still waiting for Amazon to deliver.

Yes, we had snow here in Sheffield. But that was almost two weeks ago now and it only stopped the traffic on main roads for 1-2 days. Amazon IIRR is further south and the area was less affected by snow than we were.

BrandyButterPie · 16/12/2010 22:11

It is possible to track by royal mail on some items. I have no tracking number, even on a coffee machine that I have ordered, which must be too big to fit in normal post.

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 22:11

lol v good laid back possum

I tell you what I find annoying. I am about to go on leave. I get all my parcels delivered to work. 3 haven't turned up. So now, if they do turn up, they are going to arrive at work and I am at home. And do I want to go into work when I am on leave, in case they do turn up? you can guess the answer to that one ;-).

Hulababy · 16/12/2010 22:11

SGM - no post at such times here. Took over a week after the snow to start getting regular post at all again.

splashy · 16/12/2010 22:12

Op that's nothing. I'm still waiting for my Nov 29th order to materialise. It has been posted, but has been in transit for a while now. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I won't have the xmas present to give my friend before she goes home :(

NineLadiesDancingThroughLife · 16/12/2010 22:13

I know loads of people who have all ordered the same CD from Amazon - ordered pre-release. Half of them got it before the CD release date, some on the day, some are still waiting for it nearly 3 weeks after it came out Confused

Because there are so many people waiting for the same CD, we are getting many facebook updates on the progress of Amazon's deliveries.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 16/12/2010 22:14

I am missing something as well, ordered a whole lot of stuff. The order did say that they would all come together...they didn't.
I have everything but one item they all came royal mail tracked and this one is languishing in a RM sorting office about 700 miles away from me and has been for 11 days now.

backwardpossom · 16/12/2010 22:14

It's possom FFS... Xmas Wink

That's a shame fox but I fail to see how that's Amazon's fault? Royal Mail, perhaps, but Amazon?

BTW, I live in the far north of Scotland, so as well as being laid back, I'm just used to not getting post when the weather's shit.

My second Wii game is coming from darn sarf....we are in shitty Bolton....I could have walked there, picked it up, and been back at my house by now!!! It fascinates me how UK is always baffled by snow and ice in the Winter!!

bubaluba · 16/12/2010 22:15

Backward - If they know they have a high volume of orders backing up due to weather etc maybe they shouldn't be running an e-mail campaign advising customers they can still order in time for Christmas? I am sure they have a Royal Mail account and would claim back any losses from Royal Mail

And no it won't be the end of the world, just a disappointed 5yo - I have paid for goods and they have not arrived. In terms of the cost to their business, I am sure they would pass on any losses. They are likely to have a Royal Mail account and would claim back any losses from Royal Mail...

we never stopped getting post here in London tbh, maybe there was that one day we didn't (when it snowed a bit heavier than the other days) but other than that, our postie was always out and about

plenty of other retailers are managing to deliver - John Lewis for example, was only one day late!

These orders are like weeks and weeks late!

lucky1979 · 16/12/2010 22:16

I think the idea to reorder might be a good one, I ordered a whole range of things for Christmas last week and they turned up the next day so they're seemingly back on track.

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 22:17

yes I agree possum, re Royal Mail tbh. They are shitey shite in situations like this.

But it's still amazon representing they can get orders here on time, the eejits.

I just want a bit of honesty.

BrandyButterPie · 16/12/2010 22:18

I wouldn't mind one or two days more, but I've not had any acknowledgement that my items (with next day delivery paid for) are going to be so late. Even the website says 2 - 3 days!

suzikettles · 16/12/2010 22:18

This is what worries me - my 2 deliveries were scanned into a HDLN warehouse 9 days ago. The next day the tracking message was "delayed because of adverse weather". No update since then.

I'd like to know whether they're at the bottom of a massive pile with more and more orders coming in and getting sent out first - will I have to wait until the backlog clears until my parcel leaves? (If it's actually there and hasn't been lost). Because realistically, with Amazon still emphasising that there's time to order for Christmas my parcel isn't going to make it out of there before January.

backwardpossom · 16/12/2010 22:19

Could you not nip to a shop and get the thing for the 5yo and then return the Amazon stuff when it does eventually turn up, buba ?

Exactly Stewie - also a bit of perspective, no?

shabbapinkfrog · 16/12/2010 22:21

Yes I would rather Amazon say 'the weather has caused loads of problems for us and we have totally fecked messed up promising that orders will come before Xmas. Please bear with us we will do everything in our power to sort this out.'

panettoinydog · 16/12/2010 22:22

I'm with possum. There has been major disruption in many parts.

If I don't get the stuff, it's a bit annoying but I can make do without it. I suppose I could cancel and go out and buy the stuff.

juneybean · 16/12/2010 22:22

I ordered mine on 27th Nov, it was dispatched 28th November with a delivery estimate of 3rd Dec.... still waiting!

Says dispatched by Royal Mail
Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.

foxinsocks · 16/12/2010 22:23

you patient people are all in scotland, did you notice ;-)

we have had v v little disruption down here, so a delay of almost 3 weeks in getting a parcel feels monumentally excessive when everyone else is managing to deliver within a couple of days

panettoinydog · 16/12/2010 22:24

ah, you perceptive fox.

Yes, I suppose it helps that we have seen everything grind to a halt first hand.

Fidgety fox.
