...not really family viewing? I've barely watched x-factor in my life but I had thought everyone said that, for all its faults, it was something that had got families watching telly together. I was expecting wholesome boy bands and gutsy young girls. Clearly I'm naive and a prude.

Can you REALLY not see how there is a difference between a man seeing a woman in an otherwise child friendly setting who he happens to be attracted to

and children seeing an act that is designed to be very sexual?

really? REALLY?

countless · 11/12/2010 22:22

amijee- divorce him. now, tonight! she is so horrible, 21st century bonny langford mins charm

MollieO · 11/12/2010 22:22

I don't think aimjee actually understands what the issue is here hence her comments.

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 11/12/2010 22:24

Oh yes - she doesn't agree with youtherefore she doesn't understand?!?!!!
Brilliant.

Ormirian · 11/12/2010 22:24
Grin
MollieO · 11/12/2010 22:24

countless that's a bit harsh. I am sure that there are many men who find women in pigtails, dressed in dungarees and with a particularly irritating squeaky voice incredibly attractive. amijee sounds lucky to have found such a perfect match. Xmas Grin

amijee · 11/12/2010 22:24

Oh dear - sarcasm is lost on you and you all take yourselves so seriously. Take a chill pill!

MsSparkle · 11/12/2010 22:25

What is it your objecting to exactly? The performances or the time they were on?

MollieO · 11/12/2010 22:26

I was simply commenting on amijee's complete non-sequitur of commenting on whom her husband fancies. The fact that she posted it along with her other comments, indicates, at least to me, that she doesn't want to understand the issue of the sexualisation of children.

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 11/12/2010 22:27

I'm so tempted to say 'o yeh but yous all just jealuss' just to see you all go mad

FrustratedHippy · 11/12/2010 22:27

amijee you sound very cool yourself

MollieO · 11/12/2010 22:27

Not bothered by the performances just not family viewing on a show that is marketed as a family show.

corlan · 11/12/2010 22:28

amijee maybe I can spell this out for you. I didn't see Christina's performance but if I'm not wrong, Rihanna and her dancers were simulating having a man's penis put into them from behind and also simulating sliding up and down on said man's penis.

Do you still think it's OK for kids to watch that?

MollieO · 11/12/2010 22:28

Yes, you've guessed it. I am jealous. I'd love a pair of dungarees. Maybe amijee you could let me know where I could get some?

amijee · 11/12/2010 22:29

Lady - I think feeling like you have a crap body may contribute to the "shock horror at porn" type attitude.

[runs away to seek asylum somewhere like amsterdam]

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 11/12/2010 22:29

I didn't say you were- it's just what usually happens isn't it?

MsSparkle · 11/12/2010 22:29

I wasn't paying much attention to Rihannas performance, i think i will have to play it back cause it sounds like i missed alot!

oneortwo · 11/12/2010 22:30

objecting to the time/channel

but also a bit Sad that women with such strong voices feel the need to do that to stay in the game

but I should just take a chill pill and not worry about what version of normality my growing son is shown!

MollieO · 11/12/2010 22:30

Didn't see Rihanna's performance and it is not on the X factor youtube site (at least that I could find). Self censorship it seems. A bit too late.

walkinginaWUKTERwonderland · 11/12/2010 22:30

I'm objecting to both.
The time they were on - deliberately sexualised material should not be seen by children.

The performances - objectification of young women, with all that implies for young girls and society as a whole.

To be frank, it's not just the timing.

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 11/12/2010 22:32

I do hope all of you who saw it and aren't happy about it are going to complain to ITV. Please.

MollieO · 11/12/2010 22:32

amijee let me get this clear. Are you saying that only people with a 'crap body' are concerned with the sexualistion of children? Not sure why I am surprised by that as it makes a much sense as your other comments.

woolymindy · 11/12/2010 22:33

They do it for me but not at all for my dd's for whom i recorded the show - Rhianna was a bit close to the bone with eh arse wiggling too

i am getting old
