Tonight is the end of term school disco and as I have woman flu I arranged lifts for DD to get her there abd home again. The disco ended at 9.30pm and at 9.43pm DD rang me to say that the parents thought the disco ended at 10pm!! We live 30mins drive from school.

I am furious and feel like just shutting the door in their faces once DD is home (and safely in the house). She is 11ys. AIBU??

Yes you can Georgimama. You can hide any thread you want.

I seem to remember telling my parents things like this ended later than they really did so we could all hang around and chat after...never got away with it though.

"I have to say, if I was that 'worried' about my dd I would have
a] insisted she passed the phone to an adult at the venue
b] Jumped straight in the car to get her or at the very least called the parents who were collecting her to check they were en route.
c] Stayed on the phone to my dd if she was really tha scared and ensured she were safe."

Indeed

be grateful your dd was getting a lift home

my dc had a school disco friday night finishing at 9pm and as babs goes to bed at 7, a friends mum kindly dropped her off for me

we live in the other direction from her and we have lots of snow/frozen slush on roads

i said a huge thank you to the mum

yes its annoying that the other mum got the time wrong, but you could have rang them and confirmed disco finished at 9.30

your dd was at school, she was with a friend and all the adults (pta/teachers etc) would make sure all children were collected before going home their-selves
