Tonight is the end of term school disco and as I have woman flu I arranged lifts for DD to get her there abd home again. The disco ended at 9.30pm and at 9.43pm DD rang me to say that the parents thought the disco ended at 10pm!! We live 30mins drive from school.

I am furious and feel like just shutting the door in their faces once DD is home (and safely in the house). She is 11ys. AIBU??

You're overreacting to people on here as well as to the situation. It was an honest mistake. Nobody is in danger. You would be wrong to show anger or hostility about it.

And as for being "genuinely shocked" that people don't agree with you and then telling everyone to fuck off: Biscuit

Kendodd · 10/12/2010 22:25

So, is she home yet? Have you slammed doors in this kind persons face?

Summerbird73 · 10/12/2010 22:25

anyone else feeling anxious for the kind neighbour at this point in time?!

Summerbird73 · 10/12/2010 22:26

x posts Kendodd!!

Ingles2 · 10/12/2010 22:26

unfortunately you can't trust anyone else to be as perfect as you and that is why we mums can never be ill.
You only have yourself to blame for not picking her up yourself or checking the finishing time.
Sorry....
I know that's not what you wanted to hear.

taintedsnow · 10/12/2010 22:27

Fucking hell. It's a less than ideal situation, but it's a genuine mistake. If you treat your neighbours like crap for absolutely no reason, YABVVU.

SerendipitousHarlot · 10/12/2010 22:27

Yes, because when they finally arrive home, I suspect the OP will be apopleptic with rage Confused

Well I'm sure the OP was angry when she had the call from her DD saying she hadn't been picked up. The worst thing she should have done is post in AIBU. However I think responses she's had alsosound angry and rude. The OP also said she is ill.

Have none of you got any empathy? summer my summary would be....feeling shit, waiting for DD to come home so you can finally get to bed, get phonecall to say DD is upset she hasnt been picked up, worried about DD, feel angry..vents anger, gets told you are being ridiculous, tell people to fuck off..

spikeycow · 10/12/2010 22:29

OK, it's irritating when people cock up. But I'm the least laid back person ever and even I think you're being a bit unreasonable. Everyone makes mistakes and the main thing is she'll be home safe

BoysAreLikeDogs · 10/12/2010 22:29

hah hah hah

spikeycow · 10/12/2010 22:30

Don't show your irritation OP you'll regret it when you calm down

pozzled · 10/12/2010 22:31

In fairness to the OP, I certainly wouldn't have felt the need to check the time with the other parents. I would just assume they knew as they had access to the same information.

Kendodd · 10/12/2010 22:31

Where are you OP? Busy slamming doors?

stainesmassif · 10/12/2010 22:31

Just have a nice hug with your dd when she gets in, a lemsip and a quick namechange tomorrow, you'll feel right as rain!

I'd be irritated at the mistake if I was feeling unwell and it meant another half an hour before I got to go to bed. However, it would never occur to me to be rude and shut the door in the face of someone doing me a favour.

pozzled · 10/12/2010 22:41

"even tho there are adults around cleaning up presumeably they arent taking responsibility for the kids, so unless they are sensible, thats 30mins in which to wander off unsupervised"

If the adults are not taking responsibility there is something seriously wrong. I have been that adult many times (through school events, Guide events etc) and there is absolutely no way I would let 11 year-olds wander off at that time of night. As I said before, if it turns out that they're not being properly supervised the OP has every right to be angry with the school.

HalfTermHero · 10/12/2010 22:47

Fuck you right back, OP.
