It sounds yummy GOML. The stronger the better for me.

I have never had fondue. Is it as good as it sounds?

SnowMuchToBits · 09/12/2010 20:26

I don't know what the best cheddar is. But i will go and ask our lovely local cheese shop. They sell al sorts of really yummy cheeses, and are sure to be able to recommend something. Xmas Smile

SnowMuchToBits · 09/12/2010 20:27

Fondue is yum! But unfortunately dh hates it... Xmas Sad

GrizzlyMacDuff · 09/12/2010 20:27

only when it is on bogof in morrisons/sainsbos.

DasherandSmugly · 09/12/2010 20:28

Try some Montgomery SMTB it's fabulous.

I must do a fondue party. I wonder if I can get everyone to dress as Margot and Jerry

SnowMuchToBits · 09/12/2010 20:30

Where can you buy Montgomery?

Fondue involves my favourite food (cheese) and my favourite drink (white wine). What's not to like about it????

TurkeyMartini · 09/12/2010 20:31

Montgomery's is lovely. I had a job in a poncey artisan cheese shop once and that was my favourite cheddar. Not the most expensive one they sold, but the nicest.

alexpolismum · 09/12/2010 20:32

Why did I click on this? I love cheese, and I miss a good cheddar!

I find cheese here in Greece quite bland in comparison with a good vintage cheddar. Or some nice stilton. Or that nice Y Fenny in Wales. Or in fact quite a long list!

Feta cheese is all very well, but you get bored of it. I can't wait to go back to the UK for my annual cheese binge!

DasherandSmugly · 09/12/2010 20:34

I can it from Hamish Johnston SOTB which is my local poncey lifestyle business cheese shop. Haven't seen it in any supermarkets.

Tolalola · 09/12/2010 20:34

Oooh yy agree with the Welsh Collier's one. It's sooo good.

Or another Welsh one called Afon something (Valley?). But I don't think that one comes packaged, you have to get it from the deli.

DasherandSmugly · 09/12/2010 20:35

My friend runs a French restaurant and he loves Montgomery cheddar (he got me into it) and he is French so it must be good.

I think Feta is a very versatile cheese though. Can imagine missing other cheeses though.

alexpolismum · 09/12/2010 20:35

is that Afon Cleddau? I remember eating some of that, it was lovely.

Tolalola · 09/12/2010 20:36

Yes! Afon Cleddau.

tomhardyismydh · 09/12/2010 20:36

smart price extra mauture is much tangier and tastier than CC. wykes farm extra mature is second best to smart price if it is on offer.

have just discovered the lake district cheese co. extra tasty mature is on offer at morrisons, that is yummy, crumbly grainy and strong

alexpolismum · 09/12/2010 20:37

it's not that I don't like feta, it's very nice, but I do want to have other nice cheeses as well. Although feta does go very nicely with a jacket potato, with spring onions!

mumbar · 09/12/2010 20:38

My DS whos been raised on 'value own' brands will only eat Cathedral City mature cheddar cheese!! The rest just doesn't 'taste right'!!! BTW he's 6yo!!

Bookswapper · 09/12/2010 20:39

try Orkney cheddar...in black wax..you can get it in tesco...

AnnoyingOrange · 09/12/2010 20:45

my ds loves catherdral city mature Smile

scoobytoo · 09/12/2010 20:58

YABU

Good grief Cathedral City best cheddar and I suppose Maccy D's is the best burger?

What about Keens, denhay, appleby's or Montgomery to name but a few?

DasherandSmugly · 09/12/2010 21:04

I like feta with quinoa, prawns, rocket and harissa.

kelly2525 · 09/12/2010 21:05

Tickler cheddar for me

Olifin · 09/12/2010 21:06

I came on to nominate Colliers and am delighted to find so many mentions already:) It is awesome. With a little bit of red onion chutney. Mmmmmmmm.

scoobytoo · 09/12/2010 21:09

Hamish Johnston is my local cheese shop Dasherand smugly!

Mytholmroyd · 09/12/2010 21:10

Another vote for M&S's cornish cruncher (and yes, I always buy the 99p taster packs too!). I havent tasted anything to beat it. Who makes it???

Wyke farms vintage is also good but I havent been able to find it recently.

misdee · 09/12/2010 21:17

scooby, of course its burgerking who do the best burger Wink

actually i am just hoping that babyboy isnt allergic to milk as dont fancy going cheese-free for a year+ again like i did with dd4.
