...and have rotten eggs and tomatos thrown at them.
How dare they go on holiday and be allowed to have christmas presents etc
They should live on bread and dripping.

Does it really matter what the 310 is spent on whether its transport/presents etc. Disabled people have been given a very tough deal in life and I'm surprised so many people are begrudging them an extra £10 at christmas.

pagwatch · 04/12/2010 12:41

I am just popping in to see which of the ' they don't deserve it so shouldn't have it ' brigade have confirmed that they of course have never claimed child benefit....
....no ? None yet?

Don' t eat the rich Riven , my lovely one. Rich food is bad for you.

Lol at camel. Dd has never got over being denied the donkey role. That was the role at her school.

Aw that must be hard, dealing with lots of emotional stuff. Whatever the reason it is hard not to get upset. Have some Eton mess... Literally.

Actually - in honour of the fact I do not need my extra £10 and cupcake et al "would so love an extra £10" I'll happily donate it to you so that you can feel a bit better about yourself. Would suggest you use it to buy a little compassion and remember that compared to many others you are very fortunate. Or donate to the legion of disabled relatives you appear to have who never claim anything Xmas Hmm

pagwatch · 04/12/2010 13:05

That is really tough Riven. It is going to be hard helping her with that. I have no idea what it must be like ( ds is oblivious which is easier in a way )

It really really isn't.

She has a lovely family who adore her though. That is a comfort.

Again with the tax payers v disabled people thing.

Some have paid taxes for many years before they became disabled or gave up work to look after a disabled loved one, some are disabled and also work (I know, its fucking amazing), some even dont work in menial jobs serving the needs of normal people Hmm. I would take a guess that those who have never paid taxes are not the huge majority that is imagined.

Sickness and disability can strike anyone at anytime. Smartarsness is no protection.

Sob story? You cant be talking about me. The suffering and death of my daughter is a fucking tradgedy of epic proportions, sob story doesnt touch it.

We could do without our tenner. But I am not going to feel guilty about getting it. Why should I? I didnt demand it.

There are loads of people out there who get paid far too much for doing far too little in jobs that are unimportant. I expect they feel realllllly guilty everytime they get their paycheck.

RunawayChristmasTree · 04/12/2010 16:08

Can we have broken glass and nails sticking out of the tomatoes?

cupcakebakerer · 04/12/2010 19:35

I have to say I am absolutely appalled by the language and bully boy behaviour that has taken place on this thread. Are people not entitled to an opnion without being shot down, called names and abused? And it seems all those doing it are those who have a sad story to tell...and yet I'm being accused of lacking empathy? What a joke - I wonder if thats how you speak to people in real life? There is so much hatred and venom it's hard to comprehend. Anyhow it seems as though my words have been very much twisted. For the record 1. I do agree with people who need benefits receiving them. 2. I don't agree with people who illegally claim benefits (and believe me I know quite a few) and 3. I don't agree with a 'Christmas bonus' for those on certain kinds of benefits - ten pound seems very little and daft to begrudge but the bill to the tax payer is absolutely astronomical and not what we need as a country in these times of econmic disaster. This is truly the nasty side of mumsnet, which I have found up until now was a place to have reasoned discussion and at times have found real help and support. Reading back through the thread I see some of the more insulting posts have been taken down and I hope the rest are too.

c0rns1lk · 04/12/2010 19:41

have you read back through your own posts cupcake?

cupcakebakerer · 04/12/2010 19:56

Yes. And?

cupcakebakerer · 04/12/2010 19:58

Any swearing? Name calling? Point me in the right direction.

redflag · 04/12/2010 20:06

If you are referring to me, i was actually calling someone else a tosser! But if the shoe fits Grin

kate1956 · 04/12/2010 20:07

Actually the nasty side of mumsnet is having a pop at the most vulnerable in our society and begrudging people a tiny amount of extra money at what is supposed to be a charitable time of the year.

If you want to see where money is wasted why not have a go at vodaphone that has managed, with the help of this disgusting government, to talk their way out of paying the £6 billion of tax that they owe - and this is after HM Revenue and Customs won in court!www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/nov/14/vodafone-tax-evasion-revenue-customs

cupcakebakerer · 04/12/2010 20:15

Kate that link is completely irrelevant to the issue of a benefits Christmas bonus. We could all find thousands of examples of Government wastage but that doesn't make it right. You have no place putting words in my mouth about how I feel about the vulnerable - and you don't know my situation! I think any reasonable person would agree there is no need for swearing, bullying or namecalling. It actually flies in the face of telling me I am nasty and lack empathy.
