cor. I haven't done AIBU for an age, but I am I know I am (bu) and need some get some get a grips and bridge rebuilding tips.

For the last 3 years I have donated a decorated Christmas cake to the school Christmas fair raffle.

Last night I get an e-mail asking for its weight as THE PTA POWERS THAT BE have decided to put it into a 'guess the weight of the cake' comp and not in the raffle.

I know, OUTRAGEOUS isn't it? Man they have a nerve.

So I sent a few hoity e-mails.

Then I went to bed and had a lemsip and now have realised I am a giant precious-cake arse.

oo, let's not diss the cake. I would be impressed with any fine looking cake.

FoundWanting · 03/12/2010 16:27

Purple Christmas cake? Hmm Sounds a bit "blue fairy-lights" to me.

Perhaps this is the reason for you demotion. Turn up with a more traditional version and watch them fight to get in on the top tier of the raffle table.

AitchTwoOh · 03/12/2010 16:39

do it on the marzipan layer, as an homage/obituary to alexander mcqueen.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/12/2010 16:50

nooooooooo

you can never have enough purple on a cake

Slubberdegullion · 03/12/2010 16:55

photo up

I think you can baldy.

I failed to follow Sheila (cake teaching guru) 's words that less is more.

rl mate said "I wouldn't buy it for my mother"

nevergoogle · 03/12/2010 16:58

oh it's lovely and purple. i like it.

i'm guessing 5kg.

JudasIscariot · 03/12/2010 16:59

Slubs the cake is lovely.

(bella here btw)

Slubberdegullion · 03/12/2010 17:01

this is all a giant pita as now I have to use one of the Delia's which have considerably more booze in and keep the GoodHouseKeeping purple number for us.

Slubberdegullion · 03/12/2010 17:03

thank you you are very kind.

Friend suggested white (snowflakes) on white. the village is not ready for purple

OP posts:
HuckingFell · 03/12/2010 17:03

it is chavvvy a bit purple. Grin

Make it white with lustre and silver, perhaps semaphore f u on it?

Slubberdegullion · 03/12/2010 17:04

am v tempted with the FU PTA message in marzipan

No one would ever see would they?

SummerRain · 03/12/2010 17:06

oooooooooo that's sooooo preddeeeee >>

It is though, I quite like it Grin

traceybath · 03/12/2010 17:07

Oh its so pretty and sooo purple - had you drank a lot of sloe gin?

It looks a little bit rude in its purple roundness Grin

But honestly - such smooth icing, such pretty artfully placed snowflakes . . .

StealthPolarBear · 03/12/2010 17:08

Can you do a Big Brother type advert?
flash up split second images of the cake onto the school whiteboards between now and the fair?
It is very purple! I like it -

LadyBiscuit · 03/12/2010 17:10

It is very pretty - I bet loads of people will guess the weight for the chance to have a cake that matches their decorations :)

Have you weighed it yet? Can we have a virtual guess the weight competition? I think 6lbs2oz

SamJones · 03/12/2010 17:10

I think a purple christmas cake is fantastic.

Insist that it has to be a No Touchy Guesstimation deal - along with the personal attendants, fanfares, spotlights etc.

Bully Persuade everyone you know to go and take part so that it is the biggest money raising Guess The Weight event EVER.

(You know you are BU, claim delirium due to illness/didn't know what you were writing and/or email hacking and that really you can see why this stall needs saving by your staggering artistry)

JudasIscariot · 03/12/2010 17:11

Do not go making another one.

Just tell the farking PTA that you are making it for the usual raffle.

Anyhow, who does make the cake for the "weigh in" event?

Slubberdegullion · 03/12/2010 17:15

no haven't weighed it yet.

I'll weigh the next one.

SkiingGardeningTwinklyBauble · 03/12/2010 17:16

It's a lovely looking cake, but for some reason the purple shade looks like it should be a blueberry cake.

How about a random dot design around the edge, cunningly hiding F U PTA in Braille?

Could be worse, they could have put it on the coconut shy.

JudasIscariot · 03/12/2010 17:17

It must be costing you a fortune though? Don't do another one just so they can boost their ill gotten gains Xmas Wink

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/12/2010 17:17

yes yes YES do the FU PTA

It's very lovely indeed

Slubberdegullion · 03/12/2010 17:17

Judas I think I must. rl friend's face was NOT a picture of yuletide wonderment as she looked upon it.

Sam I can't big up the weight comp as am stuck in the cellophane stall all afternoon. Cake will be in another room. this is a new event apparently.
