and i am ONLY 30 FFS Angry

never noticed before but i was looking around while waiting for DS (4) to come out and I am definitely the oldest and by quite a bit as well i think.

dammit they all look so young and trendy, they must think i am a right frumpy old thing :( some of them have got 1 or 2 younger ones with them as well.

and no, before anyone suggests it, they are not nannies. no one in my area could afford one :o

Maybe the other 'not gymslip' Mums are working?

Anyway, 30 is young! Enjoy it!!

reikizen · 10/11/2010 15:51

Wow, where do you live, Hollyoaks? I am lucky as at 38 I am nowhere near the oldest mum in the playground. I didn't even have any children at 30!

ChippingIn · 10/11/2010 15:51

(How is your mate - the one that was getting married to the complete twat, has a little girl he wont mind etc?)

MoralDefective · 10/11/2010 15:52

So you were 26 when you had Ds?
I was 28 when i had DD,30 with DS1 and 34 with DS2.
I always felt like i was the oldest but it turned out i wasn't!
Friend is due in January and she'll be 45,so she'll be nearly 50 when he starts school.

UnquietDad · 10/11/2010 15:53

That must be quite unusual! There are a few younger parents on our primary school run but most are 30s/early 40s.

violethill · 10/11/2010 15:53

Agree with chipping - you can't assume that
a) everyone picking up is a mum - could be cm/nanny
b) many mums are probably at work at end of school time

30 is nothing!

cupcakesandbunting · 10/11/2010 15:55

OP is grogeous (yes I've snooped her profile) so the other mums must be look like a line-up for Britain's Next Top fecking Model :( All the mums at my school look like a line-up at a police station Grin

MoralDefective · 10/11/2010 15:55

Maybe they're all 50 but Botoxed/facelifted/full of fillers etcGrin

cupcakesandbunting · 10/11/2010 15:56

*gorgeous, obvs...

MoralDefective · 10/11/2010 15:56

My god you look about 20 Envy

superv1xen · 10/11/2010 15:57

I was 44 when I had DD2 so pushing 50 when she started school. I didn't look the oldest at the school gate but now I'm wondering if some of the old timers weren't the children's grandparents.

superv1xen · 10/11/2010 16:13

i really do think it depends on the area, i have a friend who is 26 and lives in quite a posh area and the other mums are all much older and she feels they look down on her slightly as she was a teen mum and they are all 30's and 40's plus.

Fernie3 · 10/11/2010 16:27

Out of my daughters four friends i am the oldest although admittedly only by a year. I am 27 she is 6 so i was a young mum myself. I don't think i am the oldest In general. It does depend on the area though i was a young un her old school.

Witchcat · 10/11/2010 16:53

30 old lol

My sister is pg with twins and she is 49 so she will be well in her 50's when doing school run.

May be i should teach them to call her Gran just for a laugh [evil grin]

darleneconnor · 10/11/2010 16:57

The oldest Mum at DS's school has just had another at 47 Shock

The youngest is 20.

Hulababy · 10/11/2010 16:58

I am 37y (DD in Y4, aged 8y) and I am definitely not the oldest mum at all. Plenty a fair bit older. Youngest mum in DD's year is 30, or is it 31?

Poledra · 10/11/2010 17:01

I am towards the top end of the age bracket at our school, but I'm pushing 40, and my oldest DD is 6. However, most of the other mums are just a little younger (mid-thirties) - not many teenagers, I have to say (apart from the 18-yo who, it turns out, is dropping off/collecting her little sister Grin).

OutOutLetItAllOut · 10/11/2010 17:06

you are 30??
bloody hell. now i feel inferior, im 30 and look old enough to be your mum.

duchesse · 10/11/2010 17:15

Blimey! Old at 30? What sort of an area do you live in??

TrillianAstra · 10/11/2010 17:19

You had DS aged 26? That's young amongst people I know!

MrsJohnDeere · 10/11/2010 17:20

I don't think there are any mums under 30 at ds1's school.

mumsgotatum · 10/11/2010 17:20

30 is nothing...I will be 37 doing school run with DS1 and 39 with DD2
