ladylush, I do hope you are not inferring that fat people are also 'fick'.

(I am a bit fat, not sure bout the the fick bit).

Actually it was wonderfully quiet in Tesco's on xmas eve, no need for a basket only aisle! But I did go in the afternoon and they had run out of parsnips and streaky bacon. Bet that NEVER would have happen in the Rose.

i love Waitrose and buy some things in there but do a shop in tesco.

it is near my job plus my daughter works there part time. absolutely love it.

went into tesco tonight and it was crowded and horrible in comparison with crates in the way of where i wanted to shop. much prefer Waitrose but cannot afford everything in there. shopping is pleasurable there unlike anywhere else.

Asda?

Round our way Asda's for snobs.

I shop at the Halal butchers on Thornton Heath High street (AKA 'Little Lagos') for my meat and veg, then off to Poundland for my tinned goods and biscuits.

You don't get flirtatious men with entertaining beards and good chat-up lines behind the meat counter at Waitrose I'll vouch.

Grin

When in the queue at Marks and Spencers at christmas they gave out Belgian chocolates and ds got 4 as the lady was obsessed with watching him eat dark chocolate ones with apparant enjoyment, she then dug out all the marzipan ones for him to take home that the other customers had ignored.

i used to love shopping in waitrose until i moved to deep dark cornwall,no idea where our nearest is now.

love everyone saying about morrisons, the one here is beyond grotty although the cheese counter is nice.

The carpark in waitrose is utterly divine. I mean you can park without being cut up by anyone, your can shop without worrying whether there will be a trolley attached to your car when you return, and you can walk to the store in an orderly fashion without worrying about being mown down.

yabu. i love waitrose. i want to move over the bridge into cornwall so i could just shop at waitrose. its so clean and tidy and pretty and light :-)

In fact the car park is what sealed the deal for me, that memorable Christmas Eve. I went with ds, who must only have been 2 or 3 at the time, and said "well ds of course we will not find a parent-and-child space". Well, blow me. If one did not appear like a minor Christmas miracle right in front of us.

The truly sad thing is that as an Ocaco Delivery Pass customer, I get first dibs on a Christmas slot. Do I use it? Do I hell. I ended up in the Tesco Express on Christmas Eve last year buying stuff to make spag bol for Christmas lunch.

Must try harder

Actually, I love Sainsburys - I don't know what DD does, but she always gets free samples of chocolates, pastries and the like - even when they're not supposed to be giving them away.

Mind you she is at optimum cuteness now, so maybe that's why. Still it keeps her quiet all the way round...

Sainsburys all the way (except for when it shuts at 6 - then it's 24 hour Tescos)

Fish counter, LL? You mean like, fresh fish? I think they've got one, I pass it on my way to the freezer section. (You don't want to be my friend any more now, do you?)

I have no loyalty. I will shop wherever I happen to be when I need stuff - when at work this means Waitrose (they absolutely do the best muesli), when at home it's usually Sainsbury's because our local Tesco's has stopped carrying the stuff we like, and when anywhere else it's whatever is closest. I never bring both my kids when shopping, I usually make DH stay at home with one and bring the other, it prevents loud parenting.

Mozzers apparently does a very good fish counter.

What a weird OP. I shop in all the supermarkets. Waitrose is my favourite, except for price. I am just as likely to meet someone in Tesco that I saw in Waitrose the week before-and they may well turn in when I am in Lidl.

Moved from having a waitrose as nearest supermarket to one 72 (yes we've counted) miles away last year. Even the DCs now get excited about a shop there. What have I done to them Confused.

Co-op here is fab, but only if you are happy with a rotation of 5 veg. I honestly went to our local Asda (once) and actually could not get a fresh green veg there. Admittedly they did have frozen though.

kittywise · 01/11/2010 22:27

we do either asda or ocado both by delivery. Ocado is better, by miles.

YABU. I shop at Asda, Waitrose and Sainsburys. All depends how I feel and what I'm buying.
