I am so bloody mad! My Nan had a stroke last week, i went to see her today i thought telling the doctors who are looking after her that i have an hereditary thrombophilia, mutation that causes more blood clots, So i went to the nurses station.

The nurse said "hello can i help you?" i said "yes i would like to inform a doctor that i have a hereditary condition that causes blood clots, as my nan has just had a stroke

She sniggered at me!

Aibu to think she should be shot in the head for being such an idiot!!!!

No sorry i lost my cool, AIBU to think nurses should be professional and not laugh at people who are concerned for their relatives, especially when they are attempting to give them relevant medical background?!

SheWillBeLoved, darling, that was brought to my attention once i had began talking on the thread! i assigned myself to thinking she was not as i do hope a nurse would not be so callous and disrespectful!

And as for the net net pretending to be the nurse, you will notice she cant tell me the hospital wont you!

OP. I am sorry about your Nan. I hope she improves soon. I think you are worrying unnecessarily about the thrombophilia though.

Do you know whether your Nan had a thrombotic stroke or a heamorrhagic stroke? If you are studying to be a midwife, you will know that this distinction is very important, and will have been the first thing to be investigated to determine her treatment.

I would be very surprised if hereditary thrombophilia manifested itself for the first time in a lady of your Nan's age. It would be much more likely to have been evident sooner, as in your own case.

I understand that you are bound to be very anxious, about your Nan, and also about your own illness, but I think you have got it all going round and round in your head. What you said to the nurse probably didn't make sense to her - not your fault, you were upset.

Perhaps you could make an appointment to speak to the doctor treating your Nan, and ask them to go through her condition and treatment and reassure you? At least then you would have the opportunity to clarify things?

notinthemoodfordancing · 21/10/2010 22:48

Why would I breach confidentiality on a forum? I am however more than entitled to defend my professionalism from someone who hasn't got a clue what they are talking about and have been downright hurtful.

Sukie1971 · 21/10/2010 22:50

?? Wind your neck in?? You're the one who suggested a nurse should be shot, yet no where on this thread have you suggested that your Grandmother is not recieving the correct treatment. And as for the nurse eating at the desk, maybe it was the only 5 mins in the 12 hour shift that she had to grab a biscuit?

I suggest of you're really annoyed you do something productive and make a complaint to the hospital. However, remember that by dealing with a complaint it takes a nurse away from the ward floor, and that may mean someone dies as a result.

Sukie1971 · 21/10/2010 22:53

Notinthemoodfordancing you have my full support honey. Our job would be great if not for the relatives!.

sulk what year did you get your medical degree?

bruxeur · 21/10/2010 22:54

Want to be a madwife, OP?

Got the attitude right there, no need for training. Just a few weeks to knock the last few manners out of you and you're good to go!

PictureThis · 21/10/2010 22:57

ahem...I'm a midwife and I'm nice Grin

Theincrediblesulk1 · 21/10/2010 23:00

looool it was a joke i dont want to complaine, i have already said, i came on here to blow off steam! i was not intending to get her in trouble, i was left in tears by the woman, partly down to being over emotional because of how frail my nan was.

I was hoping this thread would actually cheer me up, bea bit jokey and would be over.

As apposed to being mocked, Some one joking about my nan's stroke and other people saying they would have laughed in my face too.

I was very distraught yesterday,my nan is so little and helpless, and i was mocked by someone who was supposed to be caring for her, then had to leave her with the woman, didnt make me feel great!

To my pal the nurse telling me what hospital you seen me in is not going to breach any confidentituality! again ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh you dont know!

clemetteattlee · 21/10/2010 23:02

You are being weird.

Theincrediblesulk1 · 21/10/2010 23:02

bruxeur, that is very unfair of you actually, you know nothing of myself! I have been attacked on this thread so of course i am coming off brash! my nan has also been attacked by a poster too.

notinthemoodfordancing · 21/10/2010 23:03

Ermm yes it does actually- stating trust/hospitals etc allows the people being discussed to be identified due to condition/circumstance so maybe you might want to brush up on the NMC code before you even consider becoming a midwife- or in fact apply for McDonalds, after today im starting to wish I had....

booooooooooyhoo · 21/10/2010 23:07

erm, 'attacked' or not, you chose to respond in the way you did. no-one else made you be rude. you are responsible for your 'brash' behaviour.

Theincrediblesulk1 · 21/10/2010 23:08

oh go away! what colour is my hair? better still tell me the ward name! you really are sad, i feel for you! you must actually be really lonely!

And if it is you, how did you know this was about you then? as you were yawning for about 5 mins allegedly?! really! come now lady! go on where are you from then? what accent do you have!?

OP posts:
Theincrediblesulk1 · 21/10/2010 23:09

didnt say they did boooooooyhoo did i! but what did you expect! exactly that! and for once i rose to it!

OP posts:
notinthemoodfordancing · 21/10/2010 23:10

Actually 'YOU WANT FRIES WITH THAT SHAT OUT-YOU LAUGHING AT ME?' sounds too common for even the most unintelligent McDonalds worker

notinthemoodfordancing · 21/10/2010 23:12

As I said I 'believe' I am the nurse involved- I am a nurse in a hospital and had a relative tell me exactly what you said you told this nurse, I also just happened to SNEEZE (and I do have a bizarre sneeze which sounds like a chuckle). May not be you or your Grandmother but its one hell of a coincidence otherwise!

Theincrediblesulk1 · 21/10/2010 23:12

There you go! it was not you! i am very well spoken! haaaaaaaaaaaaaa you nut nut !

OP posts:
booooooooooyhoo · 21/10/2010 23:13

ScaryFucker · 21/10/2010 23:13

Theincrediblesulk1 · 21/10/2010 23:14

OP posts:
kittya · 21/10/2010 23:14

blooming heck, calm down.

Ive just got in from a 12 hour shift myself and I can promise you this nurse would not have been sat on her fat arse eating at the desk. You dont know what 101 things she was doing at the same time as shoving quality streets in her face.

this whole thread is giving me a headache.

Theincrediblesulk1 · 21/10/2010 23:15

why is that! booooooooyhooo you don't ask adult questions ( hang on that sounded a bit wrong there!)

OP posts:
bruxeur · 21/10/2010 23:15

I think the OP's pearls have got snarled up in her alice band. Would explain the unfortunate signal/noise ratio.

OnceUponA · 21/10/2010 23:15

surely if you have a sneeze that you know sounds like a chuckle and a woman looked visibly put out then you would explain at the time that it was a sneeze?

All in all, bizarre thread this has turned out to be. Very strange.

SheWillBeLoved · 21/10/2010 23:16

Nut nut? Monkey? Biscuit
