Mitchum, smart solid deodorant for men (what's the difference for women?)

I bought two of these stick deodorants, the deodorant part fell off both of them, making them unusable, when I rolled it up, and no I didn't roll it up too much.

Anyone else?

Moonsand: appalling product, it's a complete lie that it doesn't go everywhere like real sand, it does, but in clumps (and who would have real sand in their house to play with anyway?) Plus you can't make the cute animals or people or whatever, they all look like lumps and then disintegrate.

Clark's Daisy shoe with unnecessary doll/dog in heel: I've had these before and they were ok, but this time around, I've paid £36 for a pair of shoes where the inner sole (not fixed as can lift up to get to doll/dog)is flapping about and ridden down the shoe. Cue paying another £20 out this weekend for replacement paid and it's only October. grrrr. And yes, if I hadn't tried to fix it down with superglue, I could have returned it to the shop and got my money back.

Anything from JML; I am ashamed of myself for being fooled by their hype on more than opne occasion Blush

Never bought one (honest) but those blankets with sleeves in should be banned on principle.

PMSL at hullygully's DH bein hypnotised Grin

Bobble-Off will be my alternative curse of choice from now on!

mummybrained · 11/10/2010 14:36

ditto the ped egg, what a messy powdery nightmare! also on similar vein silkymits were never quite what they promised.

i also feel let down by cillitbang, it's the same as any other spray cleaner (but with a shouty man)

also can i add almost anything by betterware (betterware reps prepare to attack!) i still take the catelogue in and peruse it wondering what i'll waste my money on next, last thing was a spring loaded tin opener which literally sprang apart within 6months

OooeeeoooeeeoooeeEthel · 11/10/2010 14:36

I love toastabags, when we were living in the caravan with only a 2-ring hob and a toaster the toastabags literally made whole meals (fishfinger sarnies, anyway). Never once did they burn and 3 years later they're still going strong. (more than can be said for the caravan - sold it for £50).

I really hate my Vax vacuum cleaner which might as well just hover over the carpet for all the fecking use it is. Replaced it with a Dyson for £20 which is still a bit crap but cheap.

The very most useless object I have acquired is my ginger tabby cat. Sleeps all day, sleeps all night, leaves fur for the shit hoover to miss and periodically craps on the floor when he cant be bothered to use the catflap or the litter tray.

ConnorTraceptive · 11/10/2010 14:37

Any kind of Hot wheels track
Anything from the disney store that is made from plastic

OooeeeoooeeeoooeeEthel · 11/10/2010 14:38

I also peruse the betterware catalogue and make lists of goodies to buy, then throw it away before dh sees and tells me off for wasting good breathing time on the crap they sell.

cakewench · 11/10/2010 14:40

ooh have to say, the best deodorant stick I've ever used is one from the US, Secret Platinum Protection. Pompous name, but fantastic product. Probably giving me armpit cancer from all kinds of non-Euro-approved ingreds, but works so well I still stock up when I visit. :o

As for products that don't work, just about any Oxy-whatever washing powder seems to fit that description. I've tried it. I've tried pre-soaking with it. I've tried pre-soaking with hot water, with cold water, for hours or just adding it to the wash. It does nothing at all.

LynetteScavo · 11/10/2010 14:42

Any eyelash curler...or am I doing something wrong?

Cilit bang is truly rubbish.

Plumm · 11/10/2010 14:57

Dustbusters. Complete rubbish - they don't pick up anything, and my one made a big hole in the wall when DH threw it down the stairs because of it's crapness.

Plumm · 11/10/2010 14:58

And i second whoever said Elefun - it shoots up one butterfly every 5 mins.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/10/2010 15:05

Some horrible little eyebrow waxing strips from superdrug. You heat them between your hands, peel off the strip, press down on the skin, and voila!

If your idea of voila! is having a vivid green stripe of, essentially, non-soluble GLUE over your eyes. It has the texture of copydex bogies from hell and will not come off without scrubbing furiously with alcohol rubs.

And no, don't be silly, of course it doesn't remove hair.

MamaLazarou · 11/10/2010 15:13

I love JML and Huggies wipes.

  • Lancome 'Fatale' mascara (with a stupid comb applicator) - even the Lancome rep didn't know how to apply it.

  • Boots Organic cleansing balm - wants to be an Eve Lom-alike, but does not actually come off once it's on your face, however much you scrub.

tyler80 · 11/10/2010 15:13

"Probably giving me armpit cancer from all kinds of non-Euro-approved ingredients"

Lol, you can get Mitchum gel sticks in the US which are awesome, they aren't sold over here. I've always wondered if it's for the above reason Smile

Trubert · 11/10/2010 15:17

Anything plastic with Peppa Pig on it.

I have I don't know how many cheap plastic items where I have paid an extra £20 for some Peppa Pig stickers, that you stick on yourself, to make it a branded product.

CrazyPlateLady · 11/10/2010 15:18

I love my dust buster!! Its a fab product. I also don't mind dry shampoo though.

I took part in a trial recently for some new roll on deoderant. It was Sanex.

Bloody fantastic. Not sure if it is out yet but I will be buying some when it is. It wasn't even the no white marks one, but it left no white marks. It also is stored upside down so you get everything out of it and doesn't smell over powering.

heathermumof3 · 11/10/2010 15:23

A double buggy hardley ever used looks good but rubbish for shops as the are too big. I have probably used it 3 times my youngest is now 7 month.

heathermumof3 · 11/10/2010 15:30

also one of them travel cot mattresses from mother care. It is rubbish just like a quilted cover child can't sleep on that.

satonthesofa · 11/10/2010 15:37

Ready bed, child gets hot, sweaty and transforms into a turtle during the night!

SiriusStar · 11/10/2010 15:40

Ikea duvet with stripy edges, so that if you have a white or pale cover, you can see the navy stripes.
Ikea duvet cover that doesn't fit the Ikea duvet and doesn't have poppers or buttons to stop the duvet poking out the bottom.
Crappity crap.

Tokyotwist · 11/10/2010 15:42

Dead sea scrub and moisturiser. Got suckered into paying £50 for both by one of those "can I have a look at your hands" people. Still smarting at how stupid I was.

CrunchyFrog · 11/10/2010 15:46

Cilit Bang has the nasties smell ever, can't bear it.

Yankee candles. Hates them we does. Yes.

Tokyotwist · 11/10/2010 15:46

plumm pmsl, I once tried the same stuff for my legs. Equally useless and painful to remove Grin.
