To be pissed off that the EDL are marching through my town tomorrow..well the march is banned but they are allowed a peaceful protest town is multi cultural and it makes me sad that this will cause unrest

I don't know about that ..all I know is that most of them came in from other parts of the country and the majority that were arrested didn't live locally ..says a lot really

Alice, most people but until their message is illegal then I am afraid they have the right to expouse it, do you want to go down a path where a section of society can be told to "shut up" by those in power.

Usualsuspect, can we really say to someone from sy, London, "you dont have the right to demonstrate in Leicester" or anywhere else for that matter.

Plenty of people did not like the Greenham protesters who themselves caused a lot of financial damage or how about the sufferagettes (sp) they wer demonised by society, the poll tax protesters, or is it only those we agree with who have the right to protest

usualsuspect · 10/10/2010 22:39

You are deliberately missing my point ..so this time I'm really going ..have fun convincing yourself you are right

newwave - you are busted, and well so. Trying to be all reasonable but cloaking your nastiness. Tricks obv. from the BNP, trying to make themselves electable. You are a nasty little racist and shouldn't try to pretend otherwise.

I don't think that newwave has said anything nasty. Just because you disagree with an opinion it is wrong to call someone a 'nasty little racist'

All newwave has done is to say that people have a right to demonstrate. I don't think it matters where demonstrators come from, or are you suggesting that freedom of movement be limited to only those who share your opinion?

I think democracy and freedom has to be protected and that means all people getting to have their say, whether others like it or not.

newwave · 10/10/2010 22:49

Pan, I wont react as I should to your post. I am as left wing as you are likely to find without going into the nutty section of the left wing. I have always until now voted LD or labour (mostly LD).

I have never said I agree with their views in any shape or form I DO however beleive they have a right to their views and to utter them.

This is because if we shut up those we disagree with we are no better (in some respects) than them.

If they stray beyond the law then arrest them.
You will find I have never posted a racist comment thread on this or any other thread.

Forget what I first said you are a fool who cannot have a reasoned debate.

newwave · 10/10/2010 22:53

Alice, where did you get the "most people" from.

Pan · 10/10/2010 22:55

hi karma. Another one coming out as a nasty one. People have a right to protest of course. I did it, and have done for decades. Against your type. The choice of venue and the social unrest designed is obv., to anyone, as utter shite from right wing shites like you.

newwave · 10/10/2010 22:59

So you can protest but others cannot.

Freedom of speech as long as you agree with them.

The EDL are distasteful but also have the same rights as you.

fedupofnamechanging · 10/10/2010 22:59

Get a grip Pan. You know nothing about me. I don't think that defending everyones right to protest makes me a 'right wing shite'.

You seem to be saying that people can only protest if you agree with them.

I think you sound unhinged

Pan · 10/10/2010 23:01

NW - couldn't care less about how you react. I read your posts as they are. Slip in the 'right to protest' arguemnt and your sort have a way in. You, left wing? You are a slimey piece of puss in political terms, and you really don't change.
night.

Pan · 10/10/2010 23:03

my grip is sound. Too tired, and you are too tiresome to go on with.

newwave · 10/10/2010 23:05

Pan, you really are a fool who will only see what you want to see, in fact rather blinkered.

The epitome of a closed mind.

fedupofnamechanging · 10/10/2010 23:07

Well stop talking to me then!

newwave · 10/10/2010 23:10

Pan, then but out. You have a closed mind and maybe an empty one.
