Why on earth are people objecting so much? Do they really think that the standard method of killing an animal is any less cruel?

Quite mad.

Riven - I guess that they should really be making all meat Kosher then...

Desertgirl because I don't like pandering to religions which want us to pretend to live in the 7th century.

I am very worried about the threat to Europe from vast numbers of Muslims, we are a tolerant country and there are elements which are pushing us into "Britainistan" territory.

I think the tolerant left have underplayed the risk to society about the constant massive influx and pressures Britain faces from fanatics.

I don't have time for any religion to be honest but The most worrying one is Islam.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 03/10/2010 18:22

I don't think they'd dare.

Makes more sense to do that then ;)

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 03/10/2010 18:29

Careful there Riven, you're in danger of shattering Aloise's carefully conctructed bubble of right-wing propaganda, where all Muslims have been shipped in to destroy our "British Ethos".

Of all the risks that Islam may or may not pose, how animals are killed doesn't seem to be one that is right up there.

Benefits to producer of producing all Halal meat - Reduced costs
Costs to producer of producing all Halal meat - none

Benefits to Muslim consumer of producer producing all Halal meat - Reduced costs, increased choice

Benefits to non-Muslim consumer of producer producing all Halal meat - Reduced costs.

The Muslim population in Britain has grown by more than 500,000 to 2.4 million in just four years.

This makes Muslims a minority in Britain, but a very demanding minority who want the rest of the population to do things their way or they'll take great delight in denouncing us as racists.

You can be as laid back and joky as you like about my "right wing" views but we're currently in clear and present danger from Muslim terrorists who enter our borders legally and illegally and plot to destroy Britain as it stands.

Its terrifying and while you can sit around in the spirit of inclusiveness and Blairite claptrap there are suspects who want you and me dead.

How anyone can subscribe to a religion which advocates mass murder is beyond me.

Where did i mention colour???? Thats got nothing to do with anything.

FFS Riven you've started a threat about the current terror escalation. You cant have it both ways.

When the Irish were bombing the crap out of England i was highly suspicious of an Irish accent as were most of my colleagues.

Alouiseg · 03/10/2010 18:55

"Britain?s imperial policy of ?benign neglect? towards radical Islamist groups in the 1980s and 1990s came close to malign complicity in the activities of some of the most determined terrorist organizations ever to emerge in Europe."

Its against the Sikh faith to eat meat that is ritualistically slaughtered.

So not labelling meat is discriminating against the Sikh community. Personally I'm not fussed how as long as its as painless as possible.

I just think that meat should be labelled correctly for others to have a better choice. Heck, I think all food should be better labelled to show where its come from and whether its gm food or not etc.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 03/10/2010 18:57

Oh well at least your bigotry is consistent!

Alouiseg, I live in a Muslim country, and it certainly isn't pretending to be in the 7th century; what a peculiar remark.

There are some nutcases who want lots of people dead. Some of those nutcases are Muslim (though there are nutcases of all flavours....). Islam doesn't want you dead; if that is what you believe you have been misled.

And you'd be surprised how Brits in foreign countries behave, when it comes to having a sense of entitlement and wanting things done their way :) not to mention the perfectly good point that being British and Muslim are very far from mutually exclusive.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 03/10/2010 19:00

You're judging huge groups of people based on the actions of a few, that's bigotry.

OP posts:
desertgirl · 03/10/2010 19:02

Well, some people are criminals, shouldn't you just be "highly suspicious" of anyone who happens to be a person?
