Obviously not to playgroups etc, but I've got a baby at home and don't think I can cope otherwise. Is there anywhere we can safely go where there won't be lots of kids/pregnant women?

Whatever people think has gone on, I don't think it is appropriate to make "investigative" comments on the blog. Someone has left a quite challenging comment asking her if she is a troll.
I think the general consensus is that the story about Catherine is true, and agressive comments are therefore potentially an invasion of a grieving mother's personal sanctuary. They may also cause hurt for others who have benefited from her blog.
I know that Susan took the issue to her blog by naming names, but this isn't a situation where tit for tat rules should apply.
I am of the view that Susan not being the real Catherine's mother is the least likely scenario out of all that have been presented here and I think that people should therefore continue to treat her blog with the sensitivity that it deserves, particularly since now that she has been banned from MN it may be her only outlet.

HeftyNorks · 03/10/2010 08:35

I've missed all the discussion about sassysusan/WWC etc. I've read the blog which is either real or not. If not the writer is very very good.

Just wanted to add that as a HV over the past 10 years I have known 2 children who died from complications of chicken pox. One had underlying health issues - the other child did not. Horrible but it can and does happen. I give thanks that my DS came through CP unscathed.

arses · 03/10/2010 09:21

Does anyone know about the chicken pox vaccine? Is it any good? (Anti-vaccine people aside, please)

fizzledrizzle · 03/10/2010 09:33

No problem Goblin and thanks Feenie.

ANyway hopefully she will sort out the address bar for the sake of the other poster.

HeftyNorks · 03/10/2010 10:01

Hello arses - as a HV I have been hearing rumours about the chicken pox vaccine for a while but nothing definite. As far as I know the reason it has not been introduced is that people immunised against chicken pox are far more likely to be susceptible to shingles in later life which can be very painful and in some case life threatening.

In the USA it's part of the immunisation programme which is why it has been looked at here.

There are no plans to introduce the vaccine that I know of - then again the pneumococcal vaccine was introduced with two weeks notice to us!Hmm

VeryStressedMum · 03/10/2010 10:01

No one actually knows what is going on. HQ has said that SS has been banned 4 times, each time she has made up a different persona. We don't know what her other nicknames were only that she was WWC previously.

I'm not a troll so I can't really say what makes people do that, but I would assume it's attention sseeking, and agressive and inflammatory threads would, I suppose, give the attention they crave - but so too would posting on the bereavement threads albeit in a slightly different way.

We can't understand how someone would go to the hug trouble of creating blogs, and personas and fb pages etc, because it would n't cross our minds to do it but some people out there aren't like the majority of us and do things we wouldn't even fream about.

No one actually knows, and I sincerely hope it isn't true because it's horrific really.
But maybe MN knows something that we don't - they know her 3 other previous nicknames which were banned and maybe they have very good reason to do what they are doing.

It's just as horrific that others have been caught up in all of this - people that are genuine and have lost loved ones are have taken comfort from words written on this forum.

arses · 03/10/2010 10:04

I could get in Ireland, you see.. I'd just have to pay, but that sounds quite frightening about the shingles!

mumbar · 03/10/2010 10:09

yes and shingles is... in many cases.... worse than CP. I do say that lightly as this thread has highlighted the extreme dangers of CP. I do think as with this whole thread it is a no win situation.

There are terrible risks to us all daily and we need as a race to limit those and support those who have had the misfortune to meet such tragedies.

HeftyNorks · 03/10/2010 10:10

With regards to the Blog - has anyone read the one blog she follows - strikingly similar.

mumbar · 03/10/2010 10:10

Sorry I do not say Blush

fizzledrizzle · 03/10/2010 10:12

Hefty that would seem like a huge leap, but I will check out the other blog but I think you could upset a great deal of people.

HeftyNorks · 03/10/2010 10:15

Sorry fizzle - will just leave it alone. The blog is beautifully written as is the other one. The writing is excellent and really conveys the feelings well - real or not.

arses · 03/10/2010 10:20

Hefty I think that blog is by another MNer.

deemented · 03/10/2010 10:21

Oh, get you, superslueth heftynorks!!

You do realise, don't you that the other blog you're referring to is written by another bereaved mum from MN? It's written by Caz, as it happens, and it chronicles her life after the loss of her precious baby girl, Belle.

Please, please get you fucking facts straight before shaprening your pitchforks.

EmmaBemma · 03/10/2010 10:22

Christ on a bike! Is it really such a huge leap to imagine that a bereaved mother writing a blog about her bereavement would follow other blogs on the same subject matter?

FWIW, I can see pretty quickly that there's fairly glaring and obvious differences in the writing styles of the two blogs.

Also - I post on another forum which was trolled for a long while. At one point, a long-standing poster was linked to the troll by admin because of her IP address, but eventually it was decided that nothing could be proved by IP address alone.

I know nothing about IP addresses myself but I'm guessing that neither do most of the rest of you, so all this speculation is a) helping no-one and b) possibly doing a lot of harm.

shabbapinkfrog · 03/10/2010 10:23

Well said Dee.

They are very similar, in my opinion, because they were both written by separate BEREAVED MUMS. Those are the feelings of someone who has lost a child.....

Just want to post to express my support for the posters on the bereaved mothers thread, I think it's awful that yet again you've been dragged into a troll-hunting debacle. Possibly those who feel they must do "detective work" could resist the temptation to post about it, as it has the potential to cause enormous hurt to innocent posters.

EmmaBemma · 03/10/2010 10:27

A2363 - well, why even mention it then?

mamadiva · 03/10/2010 10:27

I assumed Hefty meant that if Sassy follows that blog could it be that she has been 'borrowing' some of the feelings that have been put in it, if that makes sense.

Given the circumstances I thought that's what she meant anyway but maybe I am being naive Blush

ApocalypseCheese · 03/10/2010 10:27

Eh ??!!

Why was sassysusan banned ?? Confused
