Yes, yes it's a thread about threads. Yes it's grumpy. But FFS what is going on MN?? Can we please ban the following on AIBU:

Facebook threads

Threads where the OP is 62 paragraphs long (fair enough if it's emotional with a long back story but when it's about a fight with your MIL over a satsuma - MAKE IT SHORT)

Gender threads - no-one likes their sons more than their daughters ok??

Fabricated dialogue - 'a man in the supermarket told me to remove my dd's filthy little hand from his trolley or he would call security, AIBU to tell him to piss off?'. No he didn't say that. You are making it up. Go away.

Any others?

OP posts:

I've noticed a bit of work martyrdom creeping in recently too, along the lines of "oh I always take work home, that's what professional women do isn't it?" or "i start at the crack of dawn, come home do everything child and house related then start emailing again, that makes me oh so superior and hard working compared to you bunch of skivers" etc.etc.

annec555 · 27/09/2010 20:18

I just looked in the gifted children section. Please tell me that entire section is an elaborate MN joke. It is, isn't it? Isn't it? Someone please tell me some of those threads are not typical of what awaits me at the school gates in 2 years time.

scottishmummy · 27/09/2010 20:19

any mention of employment is quickly met with

gosh, i am so busy sourcing fair trade locally produced ingredients and making glittery cakes and finger painting.that i couldnt possibly leave maximus with the alsations at the local nursery.i mean why have em if you just work and let strangers watch them...

formerdiva · 27/09/2010 20:21

Threads where people moan about having to live on an unbelievably tight budget of about £80,000 a year and may even have to consider relocating to the North!

Threads where people think their 8 year old child is actually more intelligent than their teacher (e.g. "my d.c. is a committed atheist and was offended by his teacher's instruction to write a story about the animals on Noah's Ark. He feels that it is perpetuating an oppressive myth blah-de-blah-de blah). Just do what the teacher tells you ffs!

Threads where people carp on about grammar (I don't care if "I was sat in a chair" offends you. That's how people talk in some parts of the country).

Loving this thread though!

DollyTwat · 27/09/2010 20:29

Threads where someone says 'a man ran over my ds in his 4x4' and everyone goes on for 3 pages asking what the relevance of the 4x4 is

echt · 27/09/2010 20:32

"What do you think to this dress/scarf, etc"

It's of this.

(phrases following statement v carefully),

the attitude to alternative feeding by the BF "enthusiasts" on the breast and bottle feeding threads.

the tendency on said threads by said fanatics enthusiasts to quote boringly reams and reams of reserach artoclies commonly sourced from places like la leche league Hmm

(I BF both of mine BTW just cannot stand some of the judgey attitudes re this issue on here and the tendency to push support all the time even when posters have said emphatically that they HATE BF and it's making them really really bloody miserable)

Ipom · 27/09/2010 20:44

I can honestly say I have never heard of Boden until I came on here.

Anyway, I second the Am I pregnant threads - get a test and find out ffs.

My children are the best threads - good for you now fuck off and play with them and leave us the hell alone while we moan about ours.

I think that if you don't like a thread, ignore it! If people are posting on threads it is obviously of interest to them so why the bitch-fest about what some people want to discuss?! This thread is just making people look nasty and very judgemental about what people want to post about.

pippibluestocking · 27/09/2010 20:45

Agree with you former diva - AIBU not to be able to manage on DHs salary of 150K threats drive me nuts.

Also, threads that confuse poor / lower income with uneducated, or middle income with middle class.

Also REALLY judgey ones about keeping the poor riff raff out of university education as if they lower the tone of the place, or are undeserving or stupid, rather than not being lucky enough to have rich parents or the privilege of a private education with its one to one attention and tiny class sizes.

tethersend · 27/09/2010 20:45

Haven't read the whole thread, so sorry if someone's already mentioned this, but I can't stand it when people don't read the whole thread before posting.

Lazy bastards.

black, Kalo

you call posters bitchfest and then try take some moral high ground. hahaha how does that work?

Alouiseg · 27/09/2010 20:55

Lumping people into generic gender masses.

Women are x

Men are Y.

Very annoying.

missorinoco · 27/09/2010 20:56

Lol Pagwatch!

Po and pm are now entangled in my brain with the Teletubbies and small orange fruit having read through this thread.
