Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

Hello Buddy Benchers! :) Just popping in during a v. busy day.

Lots of good wishes to your friend Cheerful, hope everything goes smoothly and baby is healthy. You must let us know the details once he/she has arrived!

What a lovely job you've done with the Bench, gomummy! :) Still here...still waiting. Her water broke twelve hours ago or so but she's barely dilated, so it's taking awhile. All of us are exhausted and giggly in the waiting room. :)

elmofan · 25/09/2010 19:01

Oooh cheerful, thats very exciting Smile i hope things go well for your friend.

teaandcakeplease · 25/09/2010 20:37

Reminds me of the Friends episode when everyone was waiting for Rachel to give birth. Things work so differently in the UK. LOL very exciting Smile

I have to say Cheerful that is one reason I stay away from those threads as no matter how well I jusified myself, I'd still get flamed I suspect and spend hours on there backwards and forwards. I'm not articulate enough and find it too stressful. Live and let live I say...

The bench looks lovely GoMummy. It's great that over there you'd need people like me, but alas even though we're all joking, I'm not sure I could ever move abroad. I love being near my mum and dad and 4 brothers. No ones is more than 2 hours drive for me and my DCs love love love their cousins.

Went to a mumsnet meet up today. It was so nice to put a face to the name.

Ok have popped in to see your news and you have none yet Cheerful! Would be fun and exciting waiting though! (I waited for one of my Godchildren, mom was induced three times...still took almost three days! Shock)

Oooh a meetup, I am Envy Tea. Am also Envy of your having family. We don't have any family around, or even much at all really. Never bothered me until DS, now wish he had an extended family. Not much you can do about it though!

Curious how it is different in the UK when people give birth? (from the Friends episode?)

Don't blame you for staying away from those threads Tea, I read them, get slightly stressed about it, then hide them, lol!

teaandcakeplease · 25/09/2010 20:56

Well I don't know about other people but certainly all my friends and I generally kept it on the hush when we went into labour and only texted a few close friends but they didn't come to the hospital, until after the baby was born, once you were settled in the postnatal ward. This would usually be the following day, or some people would wait until they were home. There's not much of anywhere to wait around at Watford for people on labour wards. I think the British stiff upper lip etc comes into play a bit maybe? Being dreadfully polite and sensible about it all perhaps Wink Who knows I just do not know anyone to have had groups of friends waiting at the hospital for the birth. They do not want to let you in anyway until contractions are 5 mins apart so a lot of the labouring is done at home to begin with.

However no doubt I'll be proved wrong now by someone else on the thread Grin LOL

Actually it sounds like me, but I'm just ridiculously private about some things. DH did not call anyone until the doctors told him that I would be alright, which was about a day after DS was born.

But I've sat in that excited waiting room a few times for my Godchildren, and it's downright joyous! :)

CheerfulYank · 26/09/2010 01:27

We're just an extremely close group of friends, so it could just be us too. :) We just got back from dinner and you'll be pleased to know that we quoted Friends for about ten minutes straight. We decided we wanted hummus for an appetizer, which naturally evolved into, "Hummus! I got the hummus," and then we were off and running. :o

No baby yet! They said they'll not let her go past midnight, as that's when her water broke last night and they want to see the baby within the first 24 hrs or there's a risk of infection?? It's about half past seven now, so hopefully we'll hear something soon. :) We've all been up since 3 this morning and it's starting to wear on us.

I keep walking past the nursery...I love the chubby little newborns! They are beyond cute; it's giving me raging baby fever!

CheerfulYank · 26/09/2010 03:46

Sigh...still no baby. They're talking about checking in about 20 minutes and if she's made no progress, a C section. She doesn't want that at all, but wants a clear plan of action.

More news later! :)

CheerfulYank · 26/09/2010 07:41

Baby Grace, born at 11:26 p.m. 6 lbs, 12 oz. Most beautiful baby ever after DS :o

CheerfulYank · 26/09/2010 19:49

Oh, do take a little rest tea. I hate having an upset stomach.

We're back at the hospital today before we head home. The baby is soooo precious; I just love her and am sad that she lives two hours away! I'm sure I'll see her at least a few times a month though. I am beyond broody, I'm going to have to get DH drunk and take advantage have a mature and thoughtful discussion with my husband about our future plans when I get home. :o

teaandcakeplease · 26/09/2010 19:51

Oooo Cheerful Smile Could there be 2 bumps on our thread soon? Grin

Starting to feel a little better now, what can I eat for dinner that won't make me feel ill again?

OP posts:
gomummy · 26/09/2010 21:05

Mmmm, lovely apple tart Elmo!

What's your comfort food Tea? Mine would be homemade soup, so that's my suggestion.

Good luck with your "discussion" Cheerful!

Hello MCP! :)

AnyFucker · 26/09/2010 22:18

hi ladies !

congrats cheerfulyank !

my dd's middle name is Grace...I love it

I would have had it as Christian name, but it clashes with my surname

teaandcakeplease · 26/09/2010 22:26

Comfort food here is cake and chocolate, not exactly healthy. I had some toast tonight and a boiled egg. Off to bed as I cannot keep my eyes open. Been looking at the lovely deals on Butlins website tonight and dreaming about a holiday in Minehead next year with DCs.
